Audi wants you to be able to identify its brand without looking, and a consistent sonic signature is key to that. In that spirit, the company has undertaken an extensive sound capture, catalog and research program to ensure that the soundwaves drifting into your ears from the commercial playing in the next room are instantly identifiable. It extends beyond advertising, too. Even the voices and microphones used to record voicemail prompts were exhaustively auditioned for just the right sonic character.

The Audi Sound Studio effort may seem quite obsessive, but at least they've produced a cool video filled with the tastiest in high-end audio gear. Sound geeks who like to brand-spot should be on the lookout for Neumann, API, Focusrite Reds and the deified U47. The rest of you can just watch as a uniformed team of recordists swarms all over Audi vehicles on a track and in an anechoic chamber to capture all the sounds an Audi could possibly make. Being an advertising effort, the most important sound all of this effort can lead to is the "ka-ching" of a vehicle purchase. Video posted after the jump.

A leopard chills in his Audi TT - Click above to watch the video

You've pretty much achieved Tony Montana status when you can keep a big cat as a pet. But how do you transport Fluffy around when it's time to venture beyond that "The World Is Yours" statue at the homestead? Apparently, the preferred method of this particular leopard-owning baller is to simply load the kitty into the passenger seat of an Audi TT, roll down the window, and head out on the town. (Perhaps a Mercury Cougar would be more appropriate? Maybe a Jaguar?)

Leopards apparently like this as much as a yellow lab enjoys squinting into the wind from the bed of a pickup truck. Seriously. Follow the jump to see for yourselves. Thanks for the link, Charlie!

We know it's wildly expensive for a small four-door sedan, but deep down inside, we can't help lusting after Audi's awe-inspiring RS4. If you aren't yet convinced that this car is the best thing to happen to pavement so far this year, Audi has produced a promotional film that might win you over.

Starring six-time Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx and his daughter Vanina (who is racing for Audi in the German DTM touring car series), the short film shows the duo hot-lapping the Paul Ricard racetrack in France in a pair of RS4s. Even though the dialog is in French, the sound of the RS4's V8 is all you really need to hear. You can watch the film at the Audi France website, here.
