When you love the performance of a particular coupe, it's not often that you get to hop in the convertible version and say to yourself, "So... you mean I can have the same thing with the top down?" But in between the tight and relentless esses of Monterey's Carmel Valley Road, that's what we found ourselves debating. What we settled on was this: While the handling envelope of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/dbs">DBS coupe</a> is excellent, the envelope of the DBS Volante is, well, excellent. Follow the jump for our thoughts.<br />

Aston Martin DBS - Click above for high-res image gallery</small><br />
</strong></em></div>
<br />
It may be too soon to say, but word has it that Aston Martin is working on an even more extreme version of its lightweight DBS super-GT. Rumors have been circulating around the Nurburgring, where Aston Martin has been seen testing new aerodynamic elements for the current Bondmobile of choice, fueling speculation that a more focused package could be on the way, potentially comprising a revised suspension, an updated body kit and some mild performance enhancements.<br />
<br />
For reference, it's worth noting that after the Vanquish - the effective predecessor to the DBS - was on the market for three years, Aston Martin released the upgraded Vanquish S. The faster version upped the 5.9-liter V12's output from 460 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque to 520 and 425, dropping the 0-60 sprint from 4.4 seconds down to four flat while increasing the top end from 196 to 204 mph. Improved aero and bigger brakes were also part of the package, and if Aston follows the same route with the rumored DBS upgrade, we could have a real bahn-stormer on our hands.<br />

<div align="center"><small style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Jeremy Clarkson waxes euphoric about the Aston Martin V12 Vantage - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/04/breaking-i-top-gear-i-not-dead/">Click above</a> to watch the video</small></div>
<br />
Internet rumors are a funny thing. Back during the last presidential campaign, 10% of voters polled thought Barack Obama was a Muslim... until his campaign staffers came out and denied he was a Muslim. Then 14% of us thought he was a Muslim. And you can see the same thing happening with another bout of "<em>Top Gear</em> is dead!" rumormongering. Seriously folks, the <em>"TG</em> is dead" gossip that accompanies the end of every single season is getting just as old as "Will Brett Favre come out of retirement?" Both have surpassed the point of story and are now borderline ritual. Actually, it's looking like this year, Favre's staying on the farm down in Mississippi. Which makes the <em>Top Gear</em> rumors even more annoying.<br />
<br />
The last segment of the last episode of Season 13 showed an uncharacteristically toned down Clarkson waxing extra-poetic about the Aston Martin V12 Vantage and how he fears that because of environmental worries, the busted global economy and the particularly British "War On Speed," that the days of the supercar are finished. As a result, he seems a bit sad. So sad, in fact, that many around the globe (and especially those at their keyboards) started in with the inevitable, "<em>Top Gear</em> is dead" refrain. Well, that and James May might have been seen crossing a street not wearing any shoes. But guess what? Everyone's favorite car show is coming back for a 14th season.<br />
<br />
According to both <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/2569646/Jeremy-Clarkson-Top-Gear-will-return.html"><em>The Sun</em></a> and some website called <a href="http://transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2009/08/03/the-end-of-top-gear/"><em>Top Gear</em></a>, Jezza, Hammond and May are going no where. Says Clarkson, "I can assure everyone I'll be back in November doing <em>Top Gear</em>. We're filming the next series and already have several things in the can. I couldn't think of anything I'd want to do more." So you heard it here first - <em>Top Gear</em> Season 14 starts in November. Amazing what a bit of research can do, no? <br />
<br />
Speaking of which - we unearthed Clarkson's <a href="http://www.topgear.com/us/features/more/driven-hard-aston-martin-v12-vantage/">actual review</a> of the V12 Vantage. And much unlike the three sentences he said about the car for the now infamous segment, Jeremy didn't like Aston Martin very much at all. See, Jeremy thinks that the real top Aston is the DBS. But it costs $269,000. Now, the V12 Vantage goes for $209,000, but is the new car 99% of the DBS for $60,000 less? Says Jezza, "I was pondering this earlier on today while blasting down a sun-flickered Cotswold road in my wife's 4.7-liter V8 Vantage convertible. And then the obvious answer hit me: The car I'd buy is the one I was in." Indeed. For those interested parties, the notorious video is posted <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/04/breaking-i-top-gear-i-not-dead/">after the jump</a>.<br />

<br />Aston Martin makes some of the most visually appealing cars on the road today. Their latest offerings, the DBS Volante and the V12 Vantage, continue the company's tradition of elegant styling combined with V12 power. We generally can't get enough photos of either car, and fortunately for us, Aston has released a plethora of new pictures of both cars. Check out both high-res galleries below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/">Aston Martin V12 Vantage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/05_astonv12vantage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/01_astonv12vantage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/02_astonv12vantage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/03_astonv12vantage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-v12-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/04_astonv12vantage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/">Aston Martin DBS Volante</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/01_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/02_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/03_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/04_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/05_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Aston Martin]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/10/pics-aplenty-aston-martin-v12-vantage-dbs-volante/">Pics Aplenty: Aston Martin V12 Vantage, DBS Volante</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 10 Jul 2009 12:59:00 EST. <br />The curiously shaped <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-aston-martin-revives-lagonda-to-questionable-affect/">Lagonda revival</a>, absurdly potent <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-preview-one-77-is-aston-martins-700-hp-tour-de-force/">One-77 supercar</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-aston-martin-v12-vantage/">V12-powered Vantage</a> were not the only new vehicles that Aston Martin brought to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>. Last but certainly not least is the DBS Volante, which is Aston-speak for a droptop version of James Bond's favorite ride. Powered by a 6.0-liter V12 that's shared with the standard DBS, the new Volante delivers 510 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque to its 6-speed rear-mounted gearbox, available in either standard manual shift or in sequential Touchtronic forms. It's a stunning package to be sure, and with a 0 to 60 run of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 191 miles per hour, it's got plenty of toupee-lifting performance to match. See our gallery of live shots below and the official press release after the break.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/">Geneva 2009: Aston Martin DBS Volante</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-gen-09-dbs-road-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-gen-09-dbs-road-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-gen-09-dbs-road-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-gen-09-dbs-road-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-gen-09-dbs-road-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/">Aston Martin DBS Volante</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/01_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/02_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/03_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/04_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/05_dbsvolante_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geneva 2009: Aston Martin DBS Volante drops its top</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-aston-martin-dbs-volante/">Geneva 2009: Aston Martin DBS Volante drops its top</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 12:58:00 EST. Your English-manor-garden variety Aston Martin DBS has 510 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The 6.0-liter V12 that powers it will pull the coupe to 60 in 4.3 seconds. It costs $305,000, and it is a special car. But we drove one that was even more special. We drove one of the Aston Martins that was in <em>Quantum of Solace</em>, driven by the man who plays <em>The</em> Man. We didn't even have to break into some supermax-like vault-within-a-vault to get to it. Aston Martin delivered it to us for a day of spy play, yet that didn't make the experience any less thrilling. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/04/q-car-autoblog-drives-james-bonds-dbs-from-em-quantum-of-sola/">Follow the jump</a> for the story.<br />

Agent 007 returns with an Aston Martin DBS as his daily driver and a beautiful woman on his arm, per usual. The new girl's name is Camille, and she's played by Olga Kurylenko. Her job is to make James forget about that Vesper girl, and she'll be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/14/ford-ka-makes-an-appearance-new-bond-movie/">sharing scenes</a> with Ford's recently redesigned Ka while doing it.<span style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span><br />Ford plans to make good use of the Ka's starring role next to Olga, and is sponsoring a slew of Bond girl events including a special on MTV that will take an ordinary Jill and give her four weeks of Bond training with Ms. Kurylenko. Other events include a behind the scenes look at the Camille character on E! Entertainment and full coverage from the red carpet premiere. We dig the cute little Ka, but we're guessing Olga will garner much of the spotlight during the efficient little hatch's big screen debut. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for high-res gallery of the 2008 Aston Martin DBS</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<p>Aston Martin has a whole slew of new flagships on the way. The<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/14/aston-martin-one-77-already-sold-out-and-then-some/"> One-77 supercar</a> has yet to be fully revealed, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/01/spy-shots-aston-martin-rapide-spotted-with-glass-roof/">Rapide four-door</a> is in the pipeline, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/24/spy-shots-aston-martin-v12-vantage-rs/">V12 Vantage is undergoing testing</a>. But before any of those hit the market, Aston Martin is preparing to unveil a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/21/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/">convertible variant</a> of its current top-of-the-line model, the DBS. However reports suggest that the niche automaker is still undecided as to what name the drop-top <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/30/quantum-of-solace-trailer-shows-little-bit-of-aston-lot-of-movi/">Bond-mobile</a> will carry.</p>
<p>Traditionally convertible Astons - four-seaters, particularly - have carried the Volante nameplate, as the DB9 currently wears, while the open-top version of the two-seat V8 Vantage carries the sportier Roadster nameplate. The DBS is based on the DB9 but does away with the rear seats (unless the customer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/aston-martin-dbs-gets-touchtronic-tranny/">asks nicely</a>), leaving it somewhere in the middle, and leaving Richards, Bez and company scratching their heads. Have any suggestions for the Aston Martin management? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.</p>

And he isn't limited to driving on the street. Aston has made its test track available to the faux agent. Craig must be quite the Ambassador to the brand to be granted such special privileges. Unfortunately, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/james+bond">Mr. Bond</a> seems to have no intentions of actually going out and purchasing one for himself, saying, "I could drive it faster and more furiously [on the track] than anywhere on the road. That's the reason all of on the Autoblog staff don't own Astons too... nowhere to park.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/craig%20lands%20aston%20martin%20driving%20deal_1084103">Contact Music</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/21/daniel-craig-gets-free-pass-to-drive-astons-for-life/">Daniel Craig gets free pass to drive Astons for life</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 21 Oct 2008 19:02:00 EST. <p>The people behind the latest Bond films seem to have a knack for destroying perfectly good Aston Martin DBSs. First they rolled one (repeatedly) in shooting <em>Casino Royale</em>. Never missing an opportunity to total a perfectly good Aston, they <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/27/enough-is-enough-bond-crashes-aston-dbs-into-wall/">crashed another one in a rock quarry</a> for the opening sequence of the upcoming<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/video-quantum-of-solace-trailer-2-oh-yeah/"> <em>Quantum of Solace</em></a> sequel, but not before a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/19/bond-stunt-driver-takes-plunge-into-lake-in-aston-martin-dbs/">factory test driver tanked another one into Lake Garda</a> in northern Italy. And while you might figure a totaled Aston would, naturally, be worth less than a new one, you've evidently underestimated the clout of the 007 mystique.</p>
<p>Daniel Craig, the latest actor to take up the James Bond mantle, has revealed that the tanked DBS was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/23/video-bonds-dbs-extracted-from-the-drink/">extracted from the Italian lake</a> and sold to a collector for an outrageous &pound;200,000, some 60,000 thousand pounds sterling more than the &pound;134k price of a brand new (and functional) example of the top-of-the-line British supercar. Somebody evidently needs to explain to said collector that the DBS in question was not a working example of the submersible Lotus from <em>For Your Eyes Only</em>. Rinspeed's got that one <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/05/geneva-2008-rinspeed-squba-submergible-absurdity/">covered</a>.</p>

<br />The ultimate Aston Martin is only a year old, but it's already getting some updates including a new automatic transmission. The DBS will receive an optional automatic transmission dubbed the TouchTronic 2 for the 2009 model year, a re-engineered version of the ZF six-speed unit equipped in the DB9. Given the DBS' more harder attitude over the DB9, the transmission has been tuned for faster, more aggressive shifts in order to maintain the same acceleration capabilities as the manual transmission version and giving drivers the choice of swapping their own cogs via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. When the situation is more relaxed the driver can enjoy some tunes over the new 1,000-watt Bang &amp; Olufsen stereo system. For those inclined to occasionally punish a couple of friends, Aston is now offering a pair of +2 rear seats. The company claims this is at the request of customers, but frankly, customers who make such silly requests should probably be sent elsewhere anyway. The automatic DBS commands a $4,000 premium over the three pedal variant and starts at $273,000.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/">2008 Aston Martin DBS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/54305ast_bond_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_lightningsilver_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_casinoroyale_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_infa_bridge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_amrg_26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.newspress.co.uk/DAILY_LINKS/arc_sep_2008/56129ast.htm">Aston Martin</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/aston-martin-dbs-gets-touchtronic-tranny/">Aston Martin DBS gets Touchtronic tranny</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Sep 2008 07:59:00 EST. Bang &amp; Olufsen worked with product developers at Aston Martin to create the BeoSound DBS audio system that is specifically tuned to 007's cabin. Thirteen speakers -- five tweeters, five midrange, and three woofers -- are located in ten places around the cabin. Of course a sound system for the DBS is not just about sound -- it is just as much about looks. Two of the tweeters are mounted on the dash and ascend when the car is started. Loudspeaker grilles are finished in contoured aluminum. And all that hardware is controlled by B&amp;O's Digital Signal Processing system that is matched the DBS interior and adjusts to changing acoustic conditions. All of this means you'll be able to hear the next Bond theme song, "Another Way to Die," like never before...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.newspress.co.uk/DAILY_LINKS/arc_sep_2008/56033ast.htm">Aston Martin</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/15/aston-martin-gets-the-bang-and-olufsen-treatment/">Aston Martin gets the Bang &amp; Olufsen treatment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 17:31:00 EST. So if you're going to be driving 007's ride, you're going to need a Bond-esque watch to go with it. While 007 sports an Omega, Aston Martin's official timekeeper has come out with a watch complete with the kind of high-tech features that would make even Bond take notice.</p>
<p>Like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/13/own-an-aston-martin-dbs-get-a-watch-for-another-34-500/">the first one</a> we reported on a year ago, the second DBS watch from Jaeger LeCoultre integrates a transponder that can open and close the doors on the Aston Martin supercar it's designed to accompany. The device took some 18 months to develop, but operation is simple: touch the glass between 8 and 9 o'clock to open the doors, between 3 and 4 to close them. The watch has been redesigned to incorporate more DBS styling cues, with a silver DBS logo below 12 o'clock over a movement designed to mimic the brake calipers on the top-of-the-line Aston. Still, <em>Casino Royale</em> was so good that we figured we'd give it the old innocent-until-proven-guilty treatment. Well, now we've seen the trailer, and it looks so bloody good we're all <em>verklempt</em>. We clapped at the end. And then we watched it again. <br /><br />There's so much action in the trailer that we don't know how there's going to be room for story unless it's as long as <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/benhur/"><em>Ben Hur</em></a>, but right now we don't much care. There's only a brief glimpse of the DBS in the trailer at the very end, but whatever it's doing it looks suitably Bond-ish. We'll even admit that the 2-minute clip is good enough to forgive wrecking <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/19/bond-stunt-driver-takes-plunge-into-lake-in-aston-martin-dbs/">this Aston DBS</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/24/second-crash-at-bond-filming-proves-mi6-hates-alfas-too/">this Alfa</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/27/enough-is-enough-bond-crashes-aston-dbs-into-wall/"><em>another</em> Aston DBS</a> during filming. Now you'll have to excuse us while we go watch the trailer a third time. Come on, November 7. Unfortunately, these newest shots from the set are <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/12/the-details-and-pictures-on-bonds-crashed-aston/">further proof</a> that the writers and producers have absolutely no regard for the hotness that is the Aston Martin DBS. To their credit, the death of the DBS was deliberate, as 007 is chased through a rock quarry by a handful of villains piloting Alfa Romeos. The 15-minute scene will make up the pre-credit sequence that is the staple of any good Bond film (they're always our favorite), right before they cue the cheesy retro-pop and cut to blacked-out babes wielding heavy artillery.<br /><br /><em>Thanks for the tip, Miguel!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articles/bond_22_prod_diary32.php3?t=qos&amp;s=qos">MI6</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/27/enough-is-enough-bond-crashes-aston-dbs-into-wall/">Enough is Enough: Bond crashes Aston DBS into wall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 19:27:00 EST. The problem apparently stems from suppliers who aren't able to deliver Aston with the one-off parts necessary to complete the DBS. As such, coupes are sitting unfinished at Aston's plant, but sources within the automaker say that they're willing to hold off on deliveries to ensure that all the parts are top-notch. The film's executive producer, Anthony Waye, said that the scene was being shot in the pouring rain, and although the DBS didn't survive it's unplanned excursion into the water, the driver sustained only minor injuries and was released from the hospital earlier this afternoon. MI6 declined to comment on the incident, but a spokesperson for the agency remarked that the submersible kit for the Aston was under development. The roofless version of Bond's chariot will get to 100 KPH in just over four seconds, and will run you something like $300,000 in the States, and probably the same amount in euros.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE: </strong><em>Daylight pictures added to gallery.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/">Aston Martin DBS Volante - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/w_dbsvolante_jan08_2_priddy2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/w_dbsvolante_jan08_2_priddy3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/w_dbsvolante_jan08_2_priddy5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/am_dbs_volante_spy_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/am_dbs_volante_spy_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/21/spy-shots-aston-martin-dbs-volante/">Spy shots: Aston Martin DBS Volante</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 12:02:00 EST. Speculation over. Aston Martin announced today that its flagship DBS would return to play the hero car alongside Daniel Craig as 007 in the still-untitled film (Bond 22 is the working title). Since Ford still has one flick left on the three-picture deal it signed with the producers, we expect to see cars from the Oval populating the screen as well. In any case, we're glad that Bond's keeping his wheels. They suit him. <br /><br />[Source: Aston Martin]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/">2008 Aston Martin DBS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/54305ast_bond_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_lightningsilver_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_casinoroyale_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_infa_bridge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_amrg_26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/11/0james-bond-keeps-his-aston-martin-dbs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>James Bond keeps his Aston Martin DBS</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/11/0james-bond-keeps-his-aston-martin-dbs/">James Bond keeps his Aston Martin DBS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 08:56:00 EST. Thanks to some recent updates over on Aston Martin's media site, we now know what color we're ordering ours in after <a href="http://www.nylottery.org/ny/nyStore/cgi-bin/ProdSubEV_Cat_337581_SubCat_337583_NavRoot_300.htm">Yolanda Vega</a> pulls that crucial sixth matching number out of the lottery contraption. The color is Racing Green -- specifically, <em>Aston Martin Racing</em> Green. This is the same shade developed by DuPont for Prodrive's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/17/tivo-alert-the-24-hours-of-le-mans-is-over/">Le Mans-winning</a> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-le-mans-24-hours/280187/">Aston Martin Racing DBR9</a>, and with those dark gray wheels, all that's missing is the yellow or orange "lipstick" around the radiator grille for maximum effect. Incidentally, the other colors announced for the DBS are <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/512374/">Lightning Silver</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/512365/">Infa Red</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/512369/">Casino Royale</a> (heh). For good measure, we'd also snag a Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06 to bolster the GT1 wing of the mythical Autoblog Super Garage. Yeah, we tend to daydream a bit on Fridays. <br /><br />[Source: Aston Martin via EGMCarTech]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/">2008 Aston Martin DBS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/54305ast_bond_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_lightningsilver_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_casinoroyale_color_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_infa_bridge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-aston-martin-dbs-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/dbs_amrg_26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/30/thanks-dupont-aston-martin-dbs-now-available-in-racing-green/">Thanks DuPont: Aston Martin DBS now available in Racing Green</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 30 Nov 2007 10:57:00 EST.
