Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe bought at charity auction for $1.6 million

Giving to charity is a good thing, no doubt, but what better incentive is there for budding philanthropists than dangling the keys to a brand new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe in front of their compassionate eyes? One guy took the bait and dropped £800,000, or a little over $1.6 million, at the 9th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball's charity auction for a new Drophead Coupe. His cash will go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, while the Drophead Coupe will arrive in exchange later this summer. A new RR Phantom Drophead Coupe costs "only" £260,000, but in comparison to what the undisclosed auction winner paid, that's beginning to sound like a bargain.

PowerAIDS: unique Lambo Versace Roadster raises $500k

It's only cool when Lamborghini does it. Other carmakers can try, but it's only cool when Lamborghini does it. It may amount to chopping off the roof, cranking up the engine or simply slapping some decals on the side, but when the Raging Bull rolls out a special edition, it's show-stopping.

When Lamborghini teamed up with Versace to produce a special edition Murcielago LP640, they only built ten of the ultra-exclusive fashion accessory to beat all other fashion accessories. But now they've topped it with a one-off open-air version. Based on the new LP640 Roadster, Lamborghini painted this one black (the ten hard-tops were white) for Versace, who auctioned it off at a star-studded event in Beverly Hills to honor the late founder Gianni Versace. The one-of-a-kind Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Versace Roadster raised $500,000 for the Elton John AIDS foundation.

MINI: Diesel edition

No, it's not powered by diesel fuel, it's powered by DIESEL cool. The MINI Cooper pictured was designed by MINI and Renzo Rosso, founder of the Italian clothing label Diesel, for Europe's biggest AIDS benefit, the Life Ball. It sports a blue and white "lived-in" denim convertible top, along with copper accents to replicate copper rivets seen on Diesel jeans. Look for it on Ebay June 20-30, where it will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Life Ball 2006. If you look closely you'll also see the MINI's sheetmetal has been "aged" just like those $300 pairs of jeans crazy people buy.
