Back in 2008, Continental AG introduced its Accelerator Force Feedback Pedal as a safety device. The idea was that sensors in the car would know when the vehicle was getting into dangerous situations, and the pedal would then vibrate a little to warn the driver to take action. At the time, there was talk about the pedal also being useful to save fuel by vibrating when the driver was accelerating too hard. Conti is now studying the green aspect of the AFFP a little more seriously.
