<br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/detroit-2009-production-fisker-karma-debuts-for-2010/">Fisker Karma</a> is on its way, and Henrik Fisker wants the world to know about it. The company bought two one-minute spots during the Oscars telecast, and they happened to play just before two of the evening's most hyped celebs did their turns on the crimson shag. You don't learn much about the car during the spot, and frankly it looks a little like something that should be Spike TV late at night, but hey, the word is out. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/24/video-fisker-runs-commercials-in-l-a-before-oscars/">Follow the jump</a> to see it for yourself. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/">Detroit 2009: 2010 Fisker Karma</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/production-karma-naias-2009-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/production-karma-naias-2009-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/production-karma-naias-2009-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/production-karma-naias-2009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-fisker-karma/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/production-karma-naias-2009-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://blog.wired.com/cars/2009/02/fisker-karma-ma.html">Wired</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/24/video-fisker-runs-commercials-in-l-a-before-oscars/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Fisker runs commercials in L.A. before Oscars</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/24/video-fisker-runs-commercials-in-l-a-before-oscars/">VIDEO: Fisker runs commercials in L.A. before Oscars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 24 Feb 2009 18:00:00 EST. There are many reasons for the move away from big dollar media, including decreased TV viewers and online ads soaking up some of the budget, but perhaps the biggest reason is that cash isn't spewing out of SUV tailpipes any more.<br /><br />Audi is one company that isn't high-tailing it out of the high rent district. The German automaker won't be cutting its 2008 ad budget, and instead, will be pumping more money into big-ticket campaigns. You'll see Audi touting the A4 at events like the Academy Awards and Sunday Night Football, along with its recent spots during the Olympics and last year's Super Bowl. Audi's goal is to bust misconceptions that it is a near-luxury brand by selling its cars as bigger, faster, and more efficient than the competition.<br /><br />Audi is in a huge hurry go expand to 1.5m global sales per year <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/01/audi-bullish-on-itself-raises-sales-goal-for-2015-after-record/">by 2015</a>, and it has no intentions of letting something like a massive auto market downturn get in the way of its goals. To reach that goal, Audi will have to fare better in North America, and great products alone won't cut it if the word never gets out.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://adage.com/article?article_id=130588">Ad Age</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/28/audi-bucks-trend-beefs-up-ad-budget/">Audi bucks trend, beefs up ad budget</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 Aug 2008 08:58:00 EST. The cancellation of GM Style is part of the General's goal to free up $15 billion in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/gm-to-cut-20-in-overall-white-collar-costs-cut-truck-productio/">cuts and asset sales</a> by 2009. Considering the automaker pays B- and C-list celebrities and sports figures to attend, there's some money on the table here. The event has actually been a big hit the past two years with attendees like Kid Rock and Jay-Z, Carmen Electra, Jeff Gordon and the some well known fashion designers from around the world. GM also used the bright lights and catwalk to show the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-at-the-gm-style-event/">Camaro Convertible Concept</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/18/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008-music-fashion-and-cars/">Corvette ZR1</a> for the first time.<br /><br />The death of GM Style comes right after the automaker decided to <a href="http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/news/agency/e3ie2e24571645310cbe5c1ac18cbb3da47">pull its advertising</a> at the Emmy Awards and next year's Academy Awards broadcast. GM has been the largest advertiser of the Academy Awards over the past 10 years, with $97.1 million spent on the awards show since 1998. GM will still advertise at the Golden Globes, Grammys, and Country Music Awards in 2009.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/">Detroit 2008: GM Style 2008</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-108_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-36_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-119_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/">Detroit Auto Show: Cars and Stars - GM Style Event</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9418_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9410_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9409_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9408_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9407_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080819/BIZ/808190338/1148/AUTO01">Detroit News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/gm-style-event-nixed-from-2009-naias-activities/">GM Style Event nixed from 2009 NAIAS activities</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 15:58:00 EST. <font size="2">
<p>The slow roll to the red carpet at tonight's Academy Awards is likely to be a quiet one for many of the
night's biggest nominees. Oscar-intenders like Joaquin Phoenix and George Clooney are slated to arrive curbside
in Toyota hybrids, as part of the company's fourth annual "Red Carpet, Green Cars" marketing shtick.
Given the massive amounts of traffic (vehicular and human) 'round the event, expect a near-silent processional as
the company's parade of hybrids will likely arrive in full-electric mode.</p>
<p>For their part, the Ford Motor Company is finally starting to get into the pre-Oscar eco-promotional sweepstakes,
as Cathy Schulman (producer of <em>Crash</em>) will exit a Mercury Mariner Hybrid, and Jake Gyllenhaal of <em>Brokeback
Mountain</em> fame is set to roll up with his homies in a biodiesel Ford Excursion. </p>
<p>Wither the General? GM will forgo all the green posturing, and instead bring the bling, with a fleet of 50
Cadillacs, largely 2007 Escalades. </p>
<p>No word on if Michael Moore will be attending, and if so, what his 'Whip du jour' will be. (Sorry 'bout the pic, we
couldn't resist)</p>
