The dealer-installed accessory features a ruggedized touchscreen tablet computer running Windows XP Professional with wireless broadband, and workers on the go can purchase additional accessories like GPS navigation, a printer, digital camera and credit card scanner for taking payments on the spot. The package is the result of collaboration between Ford, Microsoft and mobile solutions company Azentek. Word from Ford is that the system will cost around $3,000, though prices may vary depending on the dealership.

(Ford's full press release can be found after the jump)

[Source: Ford] Thanks for the tip, RJ!
Continue reading PC on the go: FordLink mobile office goes on sale

PC on the go: FordLink mobile office goes on sale originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 01 Sep 2006 10:58:00 EST.
Best Buy Corporation is exchanging its ranks of Geek Squad Volkswagen New Beetles for something a little faster in preparation for the release of Windows Vista. With an expected deluge of work brought about by the new operating system, the black and white VWs favored by Geek Squad cadets are being dispensed with in favor of a fleet of Lamborghini Countaches.

According to an official spokesman, the company anticipates being "'...busier than a spyware-saddled 486 processor... once that first Vista security patch hits the streets six to eight hours after launch, it's going to be like the Indianapolis 500 out there...'"
