According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, cars with the company's 2.0-liter inline-four may have driveshaft cover plates that weren't manufactured properly, with the consequence that their screws may not be torqued correctly. If the screws back out, drivers may experience a knocking sound while in motion. In the extreme, the driveshaft could conceivably detach from the gearbox, which could cause all kinds of problems that might lead to a crash.<br /> <br />Owners of 2006-2009 Jettas with the 2.0-liter engine should contact their VW dealer for a free inspection and/or replacement of the screws. Affected parties can also contact Volkswagen directly at 1-800-822-8987 to learn more. The recall is set to officially begin on June 19, 2009. All 5,000 <a href="http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/03/nhtsa-4812.html">2008 R32s</a> are being called home to replace a valve in the evaporative system. Left unchanged, the fuel tank vent valve may creep open when ambient temperatures are high, and driving conditions are just right. The misbehaving valve could lead to fuel winding up in the evaporative emissions system, possibly even getting into the charcoal canister, which could lead to driveability issues. The fix is a new valve, available at the VW dealer, free of charge. <br /><br />The other recall involves nearly <a href="http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/03/nhtsa-4813.html">6,000 CC</a> models. A misrouted wiring harness related to the right front seat's seatbelt buckle could lead to wire damage. If the harness suffers damage, it will disable the passenger's airbag, while also lighting a warning lamp in the dash cluster. With a disabled airbag, crashes are potentially more injurious, so buyers are encouraged to head to the dealer, where they'll look for the problem and replace whatever parts are needed. <em>Thanks for the tip, Oliver. </em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/03/nhtsa-4812.html">usrecallnews</a>]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/">Review: 2008 VW R32</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vwr32_0408_cjt---16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vwr32_0408_cjt---20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vwr32_0408_cjt---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vwr32_0408_cjt---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-vw-r32/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vwr32_0408_cjt---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/02/vw-recalls-all-5-000-2008-r32-hot-hatches-some-cc-sedans/">REPORT: VW recalls all 5,000 2008 R32 hot hatches, some CC sedans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 09:29:00 EST. The automaker has issued a recall for 510 MY 2008 vehicles because an incorrect adhesive may have been used to attach the roof spoiler to the car. If that's the case, the spoiler could become loose and either fall off the car or potentially fly off it while moving and become an airborne projectile on the highway. The recall begins February 29th, and VW dealers will replace the roof spoiler, which should avoid any lawsuits from people assaulted with an aerodynamic aid. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsummary.cfm?rcl_campaign_id=08V036000&amp;prod_id=288633&amp;moduletype=VEHICLE&amp;make=VOLKSWAGEN&amp;model=NEW%20BEETLE&amp;veh_model_year=2008&amp;searchtype=DrillDown">NHTSA</a> via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/02/volkswagen-recalling-new-beetle-special.html">Carscoop</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/15/spoiler-alert-vw-recalls-new-beetle-triple-white-for-loose-spoi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spoiler Alert!
