<br />The introduction of the 2008 Saturn Vue is the latest element of the Saturn's ongoing product overhaul. In the wake of the Sky, Aura, and Outlook, we had high expectations for the all-new Vue. Gone are the outgoing model's clunky styling, cheesy faux grille, plastacular body panels and ho-hum street presence. In its place, we're given a smart-looking, well-packaged Opel Antara clone that's positioned as an obvious step up from its predecessor. Sure, the old Vue had some things going for it -- after its last facelift it had a decent-looking interior, and despite its outward visual shortcomings, it offered plenty of useful cargo room -- but it just wasn't very exciting in the grand scheme of things. Its departure is decidedly unlamented, and we eagerly accepted the keys when GM entrusted us with a spanking-new Vue Red Line for a week. Read on to see how well the newest Saturn lives up to the hype.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2">Review: 2008 Saturn Vue Red Line</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/vueredline_cut002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/vueredline_cut003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/vueredline_cut000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/vueredline_cut001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/abgar_vuerl_an004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>All photos Copyright (C)2007 Alex N&uacute;&ntilde;ez / Weblogs, Inc.</small> </strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/17/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-saturn-vue-red-line/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2008 Saturn Vue Red Line</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/17/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-saturn-vue-red-line/">Review: 2008 Saturn Vue Red Line</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 12:01:00 EST. The last VUE Red Line was loved by owners, though there weren't that many. For 2008, Saturn at least has a better canvas with which to work thanks to the European market Opel Antara that's the basis for this new VUE. GM's 3.6L VVT V6 producing 257 HP and 248 ft-lbs. of torque at a low 2,100 RPM doesn't hurt, either. While the design is still very boy racer, at least it doesn't look comical like the last VUE Red Line. The best way to tell you're looking at a Red Line rather than a normal VUE is that front bumper, which on a Red Line version incorporates a very large lower grille flanked by two more smaller intakes with integrated driving lights. This bumper ups the aggressive factor of the little CUV, but also lowers its ground clearance to that of a sedan. A six-speed automatic does dividing duty in the VUE Red Line, while your choice of front- or all-wheel drive is available. Pricing starts at $27,395, though if sales don't immediately eclipse the old model, we bet an incentive or two might be placed on the hood. <br /><br />We've got a 2008 Saturn VUE Red Line in the Autoblog Garage as we speak, so look for a review and more live shots of the vehicle soon.<br /><br />[Source: General Motors]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1">2008 Saturn VUE Red Line</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/x08st_vu061_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/x08st_vu054_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/x08st_vu064_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/x08st_vu060_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-saturn-vue-red-line-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/x08st_vu065_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/20/new-gallery-2008-saturn-vue-red-line/">New Gallery: 2008 Saturn VUE Red Line</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 20 Sep 2007 15:03:00 EST. Normally we're traditionalists and like our vehicles in shades of white, black or red, but the excellent photography really shows off the best side of this new color, especially when it's in the sun. <br /><br />Saturn has also released all available information on the VUE's specifications for each model. The ute will be available in XE and the aforementioned uplevel XR trim level, as well as Red Line and two Green Line versions. There will be three engine choices, including a 2.4L Ecotec producing 169 horsepower and 161 ft-lbs. of torque available with the XE FWD model. A 3.5L V6 producing 222 horsepower and 219 ft-lbs. of torque is available with the XE AWD. Step up to the XR model and your VUE will be provided by GM's best six-cylinder, the 3.6L V6 that produces 257 horsepower and 248 ft-lbs. of torque. This same engine also powers the high-performance VUE Red Line, which will be augemented with a more aggressive exterior and other go-fast hardware to improve handling and braking. While the Ecotec four-cylinder is mated to GM's Hydramatic 4T45 four-speed automatic, all V6 models get the Hydramatic six-speed auto. <br /><br />There's more info after the jump, along with Saturn's new press releases for the 2008 VUE. Both models clearly carry the shape of the Opel Antara currently being sold in Europe, but we're told the Saturn versions will carry very distinct front fascias. The Vue Red Line also sports a deep front air dam with embedded projector beam fog lights and larger wheels. <br /><br />Edmunds is reporting that the Honda-sourced 250-hp, 3.5-liter V6 currently being used in the Vue will likely be replaced by GM's own 3.6-liter V6 slated for use in the larger Outlook and detuned for duty in the Vue. We should expect the world premier of the new Vue to happen at the L.A. auto show later this year. <br /><br />Follow the link to see more pics and video footage of the 2008 Saturn Vue in Death Valley.<br /><br />[Source: Edmunds]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/08/spy-shots-video-2008-saturn-vue-and-vue-red-line/">Spy Shots/Video: 2008 Saturn Vue and Vue Red Line</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 08 Aug 2006 15:03:00 EST.
