Vehicles manufactured by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/volvo/">Volvo</a> are the subject of two different recalls newly announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA). The recalls, both involving problems with fuel systems, cover more than 140,000 vehicles manufactured within the past decade.<br />
<br />
The first recall is directed at 136,100 2001-2005 model year <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/s60">S60</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/s80">S80</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/v70">V70</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/XC70">XC70</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/XC90">XC90</a> vehicles sold and operated in warmer climates. According to NHTSA, the fuel pump can develop cracks in its flange when exposed to hot temperatures (and thermal cycling) combined with varying fuel quality. A compromised flange may leak fuel and/or result in a fire. Owners are instructed to bring their vehicles into the dealer for inspection. If the part is defective, Volvo will replaced it with modified flange at no charge. The recall campaign is scheduled to begin in January 2010.<br />
<br />
The second recall is directed at 5,253 2010 model year <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/xc60">XC60</a> vehicles. According to NHTSA, a fuel line rail cover designed to protect the fuel lines on the XC60 may be improperly attached, thus exposing the lines to damage. The damaged pieces may leak, possibly resulting in a fire. Owners of the affected models are asked to bring their vehicles to the dealer for inspection and/or a repair at no charge. The recall campaign is scheduled to begin in January 2010.<br />
<br />
Owners are asked to contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or visit <a href="http://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV">www.safercar.gov</a> for more information. The full text from both recall notices is after the jump.<br />

It's also home territory for the loved and loathed Red Sox. There's plenty of cars plastered with "B" stickers, license plates and trinkum. Long a sponsor of Red Sox baseball, Volvo's rolled out a special edition of its stubby C30. The Kammback hatch comes with a factory-fitted Team logo stuck to the glass of the rear hatch, fender badges and a distinctive shade of red. This regionally pimped Volvo is a limited edition, with only 107 examples being produced. <br /><br />If baseball (or just the Red Sox) isn't your thing, Volvo's got an Ocean Race Edition that spans the V70, XC70 and XC90 models. Ocean Race cars have been available a couple of times before, sporting Ocean Blue paint and nautical detailing, and the new Ocean Race themed cars continue to tie in with the actual sailing event. New this time around is the availability of Ocean Race models in Electric Silver as well as Ocean Blue. Interior details are more evocative of sailing, and new wheels draw inspiration from the undulation of the ocean. Volvo expects to shift 9,000 of these maritime units, which should make it easy enough to find a limited production Volvo, even if you miss out on the baseball themed C30. <span style="font-style: italic;">Ocean Race press release after the jump<br /></span><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/">Special Edition Volvos</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/green_monster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/fender_badge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/center-stack_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/3490_2_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/special-edition-volvos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/3491_2_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Volvo]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/06/bats-and-boats-special-edition-volvos-for-bo-sox-fans-and-sai/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bats and Boats - Special edition Volvos for Bo' Sox fans and sailors alike</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/06/bats-and-boats-special-edition-volvos-for-bo-sox-fans-and-sai/">Bats and Boats - Special edition Volvos for Bo' Sox fans and sailors alike</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008 08:57:00 EST. The newly released second-generation S80 won't see any major changes, nor will the new 70-series wagons, the C70, or the C30. The S40's going to bid us adieu, as there's price overlap with the S60, and the S60's not much larger than the S40. The C30's going to serve as the entry-level Volvo, while also angling at MINI's territory of cutieified premium small cars. The S60, while handsomely drawn, is becoming long in the tooth. A redesigned S60 will bow in 2010, and it will be smaller than the current model in an effort to differentiate it from the S80, as well as still serve those customers who would have gone for the S40. <br /><br />While Gothenburg's losing a sedan offering, it'll be adding a CUV in early 2009 when the XC60 hits the streets. With the CUV market currently on fire, a smaller Volvo 'ute to go after X3 shoppers is a shrewd move. The basic hardware's already been piled together as the Land Rover LR2, which we suspect offers a decent preview of the XC60 experience. Basically, what we see happening is the phasing out of the P2 platform that Volvo developed in the '90s for the original S80, and a migration of all vehicles to some flavor of the EUCD platform. <br /><br />[Source: Automotive News - Sub Req'd]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/04/volvo-shuffles-its-lineup/">Volvo planning major lineup changes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 04 Sep 2007 10:01:00 EST. With tuning skills derived from racing experience, the changes are more than cosmetic. Heico has developed suspension, brake, and exhaust upgrades that enhance the reflexes of the wagons. The restrained bodykit bolted to the EUCD platform cars is the most visible change. It's tasteful, though the ultra low profile tires and overkill-diameter rims look awkward to us. The interior gains extremely attractive two color seats and various aluminum trim pieces embossed with the Heico Viking helmet logo. We'll take the low and mean looking V70, though it'd be tough to go wrong with the more chromed-out and higher-riding XC70, as well. <br /><br />[Source: Carscoop]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/">Heico Sportiv XC70 and V70</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/carscoopheicov70_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/carscoopheicov70_6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/carscoopheicov70_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/carscoopheicov70_10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/heico-sportiv-xc70-and-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/carscoopheicov70_11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/25/heico-sportiv-takes-on-the-volvo-v70-and-xc70/">Heico Sportiv takes on the Volvo V70 and XC70</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 25 Aug 2007 09:28:00 EST. Volvo touts the V70's interior space and increased payload capacity of 724kg (up from 539kg in a standard model) as reasons why bobbies in the UK favor the V70, telling us that these features "ensure that the vehicle can safely transport all the equipment necessary for modern policing, including heavy firearms when the situation demands." Boo-yah. So don't go approaching any V70s that look like this in the UK if you're itching for a fight. Chances are they're packing a lot of heat in their rear underfloor lockable storage area.<br /><br />[Source: Volvo]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volvo-v70-uk-police-car/low/">Volvo V70 UK Police Car</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volvo-v70-uk-police-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/53506vol_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volvo-v70-uk-police-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/53506vol2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volvo-v70-uk-police-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/53506-a-vol_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volvo-v70-uk-police-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/53506-a-vol2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/14/new-volvo-v70-police-car-in-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Volvo V70 Police Car debuts in UK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/14/new-volvo-v70-police-car-in-uk/">New Volvo V70 Police Car debuts in UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 14 Aug 2007 15:34:00 EST. The tailgate and rear lamp styling are such that they increase interior volume and offer a nice, clean shut line. This video leads you through some eye candy of the EUCD V70. The quick overview gets the wagon freaks among us pumped up for the new Volvo estate. Still shots of the car don't do the styling justice, as the vertical and horizontal elements really come together nicely and shots of the car pulling away from the camera show off the inherent motion in the taut lines.<br /><br />There are also those among us who yawn and ask what's changed. We'll give them that, it's still a Volvo wagon, so you won't wet yourself like an excited puppy (until the R gets here, that is), but for those who love wagons, there's not too many cars that are as versatile and well thought out as a Volvo five-door. The current P2-based V70s are nice enough drivers, but they're on the brink of being dynamically obsolete, so we're hoping the EUCD platform makes the driving experience that much better. You can be certain that the interior will be a comfortable, well appointed place to spend time, all wrapped in a clean Scandinavian design ethos. Follow the jump for your viewing pleasure.<br /><br />[Source: Carscoop]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/05/video-volvo-gives-a-new-rear-end-to-the-customer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Volvo gives a new rear end to the customer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/05/video-volvo-gives-a-new-rear-end-to-the-customer/">VIDEO: Volvo gives a new rear end to the customer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 05 Feb 2007 19:04:00 EST. Looking for all the world like, well... an S80 station wagon, the new V70 sports a new skin keeping in step with the brand's design language that only makes a passing gesture to the slab sided boxes of yesteryear. The rear of the V70 sports Volvo's trademark vertical taillamps that extend upward from a wide base, and the rear glass shape hints ever so slightly at the unique shape of the C30's hatch, itself an homage to the original <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_P1800">P1800</a>. Interior space have apparently grown in every which way thanks to a body that's larger in every metric. <br /><br />[Source: AutoWeek.nl, <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/volvo/volvo%E2%80%99s-new-v70-wagon/#gallery/volvo/v70/v70_back_side.jpg">Motor Authority</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/">2008 Volvo V70</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/08volvov7011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/08volvov7015_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/08volvov7008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/08volvov7003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-volvo-v70/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/08volvov7012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/volvos-new-v70-surfaces-on-web/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Volvo's new V70 surfaces on web</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/volvos-new-v70-surfaces-on-web/">Volvo's new V70 surfaces on web</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 11:27:00 EST. Models affected include the 1999-2000 C70 coupes and convertibles, S60, S70, S80, V70, V70XC and XC70.<br /><br />And just as Chrysler is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/08/rumor-mill-chrysler-pacifica-being-cancelled/">getting rid of</a> the Pacifica, it'll be seeing 127,928 of them coming back for new fuel pumps and powertrain control module software. The affected crossovers were built from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, 2004. DaimlerChrysler is also sending Jeep Compass owners updates to their cars' manuals. NHTSA said the books omitted a required rollover warning. We imagine the folks over at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/01/ttac-names-twat-winners/">TTAC</a> could think of a few more warnings NHTSA could have included in the Compass manual.<br /><br />[Source: NHTSA via The Associated Press via Yahoo Finance]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/23/volvo-ford-chrysler-recalling-thousands/">Volvo, Ford, Chrysler recalling thousands</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Nov 2006 12:05:00 EST. The car looks a lot like the recently shown <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/30/holy-geneva-2007-volvo-s80-revealed-in-advance-of-swiss-debut/">S80</a>, rather than the S60 that usually matches the V70 in the midsize slot at Volvo. And with the V50 creeping up towards the midsize range, does this mean Volvo might be consolidating the lineup?
