<br />
<a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> is reportedly working up a customer service campaign regarding steering issues with certain <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai/sonata">Sonata</a> models. The Korean automaker told <em>Consumer Reports</em> that the campaign is for sedans equipped with 18-inch wheels, built between September 2010 and May 2011.<br />
<br />
According to <em>Consumer Reports</em>, Hyundai dealerships will inspect and adjust the Sonata's entire suspension and make adjustments as necessary. If that doesn't do the trick, the struts will be replaced and the electronic power steering will be reprogrammed.<br />
<br />
Both the naturally aspirated and turbocharged Sonata SE models ride on 18-inch wheels, so those will be the only vehicles affected by this customer service campaign. Head over to <em>Consumer Reports</em> for <a href="http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/08/hyundai-announces-fix-for-sonata-steering-pull-issue-alignment-tsb.html">the full details</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/16/hyundai-issuing-tsb-for-sonata-steering-issues/">Hyundai issuing TSB for Sonata steering issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 16 Aug 2011 08:28:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford">Ford</a> has issued a dealer Technical Service Bulletin for a clutch issue on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/21/2011-ford-mustang-gt-coupe-and-convertible-review-road-test/">2011 Mustang</a>s built before April 25, 2010. <br />
<br />
Affected models with less than 10,00 miles might experience a clutch pedal stayout condition, where the clutch will remain on the floor even after it's released during high RPM shifts, something that sounds like both an annoyance and a potential safety issue. According to the TSB, the repair takes less than an hour. <br />
<br />
It is not clear if the clutch issue will eventually precipitate a recall, but there have been no rumblings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to suggest that it will. Have a look at the details after the jump or speak to you're dealer if you're not sure if your pony car is covered.<br />

<br />
If we weren't car guys, we could understand the attraction of a bare-bones car with a sticker price coming in at a fraction of a conventional car's. Heck, we <em>still</em> do. But we know as well as you do that in order to get the pricing that low, corners probably have to be cut somewhere. And when you're dealing with a metal cage in which you sit surrounded by glass, propelled by a controlled series of explosions and managed by a complex mess of wires and electronics, you don't want to be cutting corners.<br />
<br />
So we can't say we're entirely surprised with news of early problems with the Tata Nano. The vehicle that's anticipated to mobilize India has been launched in its domestic market prior to being exported overseas, but three customers have already reported small fires spontaneously igniting inside the vehicle, causing the automaker to launch an investigation. <br />
<br />
The problem reportedly stems from faulty wiring in the ignition switch that has, in these three cases reported so far, caused smoke and certain parts around the steering column to melt. Two of the customers have returned their Nanos to their respective dealerships, which have repaired the problem at no charge. One buyer, however, has yet to bring his car in for repairs and has lodged a complaint with law enforcement officials. <br />
<br />
So far, Tata isn't issuing a recall notice, but it is conducting a "pre-delivery audit" of the car's electrical systems for those still in their possession and offering to inspect those units it has already sold.<br />

<br />
For the past ten years, Ford has been doing a dance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and consumers over the issue of leaking cruise control switches in certain company vehicles. As of 2008, it had recalled some 9.6 million vehicles to repair a faulty Texas Instruments cruise-control deactivation switch, and now after a NHTSA investigation, the Blue Oval has added 4.5 million more Ford and Mercury vehicles to the recall.<br />
<br />
The latest action covers these vehicles: <br />
<br />
1992-2003 Ford Econoline<br />
2000-2003 Ford Excursion<br />
1995-2002 Ford Explorer<br />
1993-1997, 1999-2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty<br />
1994 Ford F-53 chassis <br />
1995-1997, 2001-2003 Ford Ranger<br />
1995-2003 Ford Windstar<br />
1995-2002 Mercury Mountaineer<br />
<br />
According to NHTSA, the switch can leak and overheat, which can lead to smoking and, in some cases, fire. In fact, <em>The Detroit News</em> notes that the switches have been faulted in more than 550 fires - some of which led to fatalities - many of which have led to lawsuits. A Ford statement declared, "Aside from the Windstar, the additional vehicles addressed in this action have different system parameters and do not pose an unreasonable risk to safety. However, Ford is taking this action on all of these vehicles to address possible ongoing customer lack of confidence in vehicles with the affected switch."<br />
<br />
The recall begins on October 26. Anyone with an affected vehicle can take it to a Ford dealer and have the switch repaired with a fused harness. Owners can get more information <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm">directly from NHTSA</a> by calling the government agency's hotline at <span class="navSub">1-888-327-4236</span>. <em>Thanks to everyone for the tips!</em><br />

This scenario is just one of the complaints being lodged against Toyota's 2001-2003 RAV4 as owners complain about the Japanese automaker's reluctance to acknowledge a fault with the so-called cute-ute's electronically-controlled transmission.<br /><br />According to the reports (more than 120 complaints have been lodged to the NHTSA so far), the engine control module (ECM) may fail and send mixed signals to the transmission. Once the tranny starts to misbehave (noticed through rough or missed shifts), the ECM needs to immediately be serviced to avoid major transmission damage. Long story short, owners are miffed that Toyota has internally confirmed the issue (a TSB was issued to dealers in March of 2006), but has failed to notify consumers who are facing costly repair bills to replace transmissions when all many needed was a simple electronic module.<br /><br />A spokesman for the NHTSA says the agency doesn't like to open investigations unless the problem is identified as a clear safety issue, but they "are watching it very closely." Toyota, meanwhile, is studying the issue to determine whether to extend its warranty on the parts in question.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/26/toyotas-reaction-to-transmission-woes-draws-customers-ire/">NYTimes.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/28/reports-of-toyota-rav4-gearbox-woes-mount-as-owner-anger-grows/">Reports of Toyota RAV4 gearbox woes mount as owner anger grows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Aug 2009 09:00:00 EST. <br />A potential fault with the side airbags fitted to 2008 BMW 1- and 3-Series cars has lead to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Apparently, possible fitment of the wrong crimp connector can cause the airbag not to properly deploy. <br /><br />In a separate recall, 2009 model year BMW X5 and X6 crossovers are also being called back to dealers, as they may have been fitted with rear brake discs that don't meet specifications. In extreme cases, the flaw could cause the rear disc to break, which would obviously then hurt the vehicle's ability to stop.<br /><br />Unusually, the number of vehicles possibly covered under the actions has not been released, and BMW has not yet released the protocol for either repair. In any case, you can contact the company or NHTSA for more information. Complete information can be found in the NHTSA notices after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots">BMW 135i Official Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: NHTSA -- <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V257&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">1-Series / 3-Series</a>, <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V255&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">X5 / X6</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/bmw-recalling-2008my-1-and-3-series-plus-2009my-x5-and-x6-mode/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW recalling 2008MY 1- and 3-Series; plus 2009MY X5 and X6 models over safety concerns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/bmw-recalling-2008my-1-and-3-series-plus-2009my-x5-and-x6-mode/">BMW recalling 2008MY 1- and 3-Series; plus 2009MY X5 and X6 models over safety concerns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 15:58:00 EST. <br />General Motors may have already buried its Pontiac division, but the brand's recent passing isn't stopping a posthumous recall campaign by the automaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<br /><br />The action, which covers some 35,038 Pontiac G8 sedans from the 2008 and 2009 model years, stems from two potential issues: <br /><br />1) The brake pedal position switch may be incorrectly programmed, which NHTSA says could lead to the brake lamps operating in a constant state of illumination, leaving trailing motorists unable to tell whether the G8 driver ahead of them is stepping on the binders or not. The defective taillamps could therefore contribute to an accident.<br /><br />2) In another programming issue, certain G8s make have tire pressure monitoring systems loaded with incorrect values, which could result in the system failing to identify under-inflated tires, potentially leading to reduced handling abilities and/or tire failure.<br /><br />According to NHTSA, Pontiac dealers will reprogram the brake position sensor and the remote control door lock receiver to remedy both issues. G8 drivers can expect the recall to begin by June 5, and anxious owners can call GM at 1-800-620-7668 to learn more. <span style="font-style: italic;">Thanks for the tip, Peter!</span><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp">In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/pontiacg8gxp_abg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/pontiacg8gxp_abg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/pontiacg8gxp_abg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/pontiacg8gxp_abg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/pontiacg8gxp_abg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><font size="1">Live photos copyright (C)2008 </font></strong><a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/"><font size="1" color="#660066"><strong>Drew Phillips</strong></font></a><strong><font size="1"> / Weblogs, Inc.</font></strong><br />[Source: <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V172&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">NHTSA</a>]<br /><br /><br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/22/burying-the-dead-pontiac-g8-faces-recalls-over-faulty-taillamps/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Burying the Dead: Pontiac G8 faces recall over faulty taillamps, tire-pressure sensors</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/22/burying-the-dead-pontiac-g8-faces-recalls-over-faulty-taillamps/">Burying the Dead: Pontiac G8 faces recall over faulty taillamps, tire-pressure sensors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 22 May 2009 17:58:00 EST. When the insulation is worn through because of that chafing, the system can short out and the car won't start (or continue running if the motor is already going). Dealers will reroute the positive cable to fix. <br /><br />15,393 2009 model-year Traverse crossovers are being recalled for a parking brake cable link that is not to federal specifications. According to the official press release, the parking brake pedal may cause the cable link to snap. Dealers will replace the cable link connector for free.<span style="font-style: italic;"></span> Oddly, the recall does not make mention of GM's other Lambda-based three-row crossovers, which include the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook.<br /><br />Finally, 27,189 GM SUVs and pickups are being recalled due to potential faults with their fuel system control modules. The modules might have a seal problem that allows water in, which could then cause a short- or open- circuit, a development that could potentially trigger a host of warning lights or render the vehicle inoperable. Dealers will install a new fuel system control module unit at no cost. You can read all of the notices after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: NHTSA - <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V155&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">Camaro</a>, <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V153&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">Traverse</a>, <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V154&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">GMT900</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/12/gm-recalls-camaro-traverse-suvs-pickups-for-various-faults/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GM recalls Camaro, Traverse, SUVs/pickups for various issues</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/12/gm-recalls-camaro-traverse-suvs-pickups-for-various-faults/">GM recalls Camaro, Traverse, SUVs/pickups for various issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 12 May 2009 15:40:00 EST. According to the <em>Atlanta Journal-Constitution</em>, out of some 1.4 million SUVs produced, more than 200 complaints have been filed with the government agency regarding transmission issues: 11 owners have said that the vehicle will go from park to reverse on its own, and 61 have said that the gearshift mechanism has failed when trying to get the SUV into or out of park. <br /><br />NHTSA's action isn't a full-on investigation, and there is no recall - it is a "preliminary evaluation... to assess the scope, frequency and potential safety consequences of the alleged defect and any relationship of the alleged gearshift lever mechanism failures to the alleged vehicle rollaway incidents." For its part, a Ford spokesman has said, "We do not see a safety risk and we will be fully cooperating with the government with the investigation."<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.ajc.com/business/content/metro/stories/2009/04/29/suv_investigation.html">Atlanta Journal-Constitution</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/30/report-nhtsa-investigating-if-2002-05-ford-explorers-mercury-mo/">REPORT: NHTSA investigating if 2002-05 Ford Explorers/Mercury Mountaineers can slip out of park </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 13:30:00 EST. We're not entirely clear on why this warrants a full-blown safety recall (perhaps to avoid the possibility of road debris), but in any case, NHTSA reports that ten incidents have been filed and the recall is moving forward. Overall, only 39,100 clamps are suspected to be flawed, but Toyota is notifying all 121,000 Highlander owners in case they bought the add-on exhaust finisher at their local dealer's parts counter. <br /><br />You can read the full press release after the jump, and contact your dealer for an inspection and fix if necessary.<br /><br />[Source: Toyota]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/28/toyota-recalling-nearly-40k-highlanders-fitted-with-optional-sta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota recalling nearly 40k Highlanders fitted with... optional stainless exhaust tip?!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/28/toyota-recalling-nearly-40k-highlanders-fitted-with-optional-sta/">Toyota recalling nearly 40k Highlanders fitted with... optional stainless exhaust tip?!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 17:27:00 EST. <br />The hotly-awaited Mazda3 is only now filtering into U.S. dealerships after hitting other markets, but there's already a snag - more than 25,000 units are being recalled. <br /><br />According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the safety concern stems from a small tolerance issue: the clearance between the underside of the engine and the starter motor housing is apparently too narrow, which could result in a short circuit, leaving the car at risk of stalling and perhaps being unable to kick over again. As a result, NHTSA has issued a recall for the 25,400 new Mazda3s in the United States to have a simple clip installed and, if necessary, to have the problematic engine harness repaired. <br /><br />Full details are available in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6">2010 Mazda3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_2010mazd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_2010mazd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_2010mazd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_2010mazd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mazda3-6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_2010mazd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V126000&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=rss">NHTSA - Office of Defects Investigation</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/20/mazda-recalls-over-25-000-2010-mazda3s-for-potential-wiring-harn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>25,000+ 2010 Mazda3s recalled over potential wiring harness fault</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/20/mazda-recalls-over-25-000-2010-mazda3s-for-potential-wiring-harn/">25,000+ 2010 Mazda3s recalled over potential wiring harness fault</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 09:25:00 EST. Additionally, the 2002 and 2003 Jeep Libertys sold in New England and much of the Midwest are susceptible to a loss of lubrication in their front ball joints due to salt. The remedy for both recalls is a trip to the dealer, who will inspect and make any necessary repairs. The Ram's windshield wiper motor isn't adequately protected from water, so it could fail completely due to water intrusion. Initial numbers suggest 72,138 Rams are affected. The fix is a stop at the dealership to have some vented wiper motor housings installed.<br /><br />Some 16,852 Dodge Journeys that <span style="font-style: italic;">do not</span> have the optional 115-volt auxiliary power outlet are also being recalled. The unused electrical connector for that optional component could potentially cause a fire. It's the second <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/17/2009-dodge-journey-recalled-for-possible-engine-fires/">fire-related recall</a> for the Journey, and akin to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/14/2009-models-lead-nhtsas-latest-recalls-including-mazda6-town/">unused connector issue</a> that affected the Town &amp; Country and Grand Caravan. Dealers will remove the fuse and reroute the wiring. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is working with the Japanese automaker to recall some 39,711 vehicles that may have problems with their brake boosters. <br /><br />According to NHTSA, "Incorrect material composition of the brake booster check valve may cause the check valve to stick closed when the engine is shut off." As a result, when affected vehicles are re-started, there may not be enough power assist to effectively operate the brakes (particularly in slow-speed situations), increasing stopping distances and the risk of an accident.<br /><br />Affected vehicles will have their brake booster check valves inspected and replaced free of charge. The recall is expected to begin next month, and owners can contact Mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037 to learn more. <br />The 2006 and 2007 model <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/07/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-liftback/">Toyota Yaris</a> is being recalled over a seat belt problem. In severe frontal crashes, a foam pad could reportedly ignite. The recall affects 1.3 million Yaris units (Yarises? Yarii?) worldwide, with 134,900 of those residing in the States. <br /><br />Toyota is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to administer the recall. The fix evidently takes an hour at the dealership, and affected owners should begin receiving letters next week. According to Toyota officials, NHTSA has logged no reports of pad ignition in an actual consumer crash.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door">Review: 2008 Toyota Yaris 3-door</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/yaris_012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/yaris_007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/yaris_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/yaris_015_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-toyota-yaris-3-door/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/yaris_0013_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090128/AUTO01/901280448/1148/rss25">Detroit News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/28/toyota-recalls-1-3m-yaris-models-which-begs-the-question-what/">Toyota recalls 1.3M Yaris models, which begs the question: What's the plural of Yaris?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 13:59:00 EST. Due to an incorrect torque setting on the front and rear suspension upper and lower ball joint nuts, Maserati is recalling 7,912 vehicles in the U.S. They include the 8Cs that have made it over here (thought to number 88), as well as GranTurismos and Quattroportes from the 2008 model year. <br /><br />If unchecked, the ball joint nuts will come loose, and that will cause problems ranging from steering wheel vibration to separation of the steering arm. That, unsurprisingly, "could result in a loss of steering capability," which usually leads to a crash. The recall should begin next month, and you can get in touch with Maserati to find out more at 1-201-816-2600.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2">2009 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/061025_ar_8c_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/061025_ar_8c_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/061025_ar_8c_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/061025_ar_8c_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/061025_ar_8c_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=140406">Edmunds</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/25/alfa-romeo-8c-competizione-being-recalled-over-ball-joints/">Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione being recalled over ball joints</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 25 Jan 2009 15:36:00 EST. According to affected owners, when the manual transmission was in third gear, it would occasionally pop into neutral and occasionally grind into place. Honda originally didn't recognize the problem and still isn't issuing a recall, but they have put out a TSB and are offering to correct the problem free of charge to owners who take their vehicle into a dealership. The documentation for <a href="http://automotivetech.org/at/6spdtsb.pdf">Honda</a> and <a href="http://automotivetech.org/at/acutsb.pdf">Acura</a> is now available (PDF warning) and you can hit the jump to see which vehicles are included in the TSB.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.automotivearticles.com/123/article_258.shtml">AutomotiveArticles</a> via <a href="http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2008/05/honda-owners-fo.html">KickingTires</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/honda-issues-tsb-for-third-gear-issue-fix-is-free/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda issues TSB for third-gear issue, fix is free</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/honda-issues-tsb-for-third-gear-issue-fix-is-free/">Honda issues TSB for third-gear issue, fix is free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 18:27:00 EST. When something is wrong or your ride needs a check-up, a technician can set things right. Of course sometimes doctors make mistakes like taking off your left foot when they're supposed to amputate the right one, and things don't always go as planned in the hands of a trained tech. One Scion xB owner took his modified baby to the dealer for a Technical Service Bulletin, and it ended up engulfed in flames. The fire completely destroyed the little xB, but the good news is that the dealer has taken full responsibility for the problem and is giving the owner a new ride for his troubles. <br /><br />We had auto shop in high school, but we can't seem to remember any reason a car should blow up when being worked on. We don't know what Scion xB TSB was being done, but if trying to fix it could blow up your car, that's probably not good. Check out the gruesome pics in the gallery below <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire">Scion xB after fire</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/xb-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/xb-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/xb-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/xb-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/scion-xb-after-fire/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/xb-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=218047">Scion Life</a> via Motive Mag]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/08/scion-xb-spontaneously-combusts-during-dealer-service/">Scion xB spontaneously combusts during dealer service</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 08 Apr 2008 08:33:00 EST.
