The Indian release of the new car indicates just how important the emerging markets are to automakers, though the A-Star is likely to be available in most every country besides North America. Looking over the shots, evidence of cost-cutting is rather obvious, especially in the hard plastic interior. Still, for its intended market, the low price and relatively good looks will likely be more than enough to make this a successful platform for Suzuki.

[Source: Team BHP via Jalopnik]
Spy Shots: Production Suzuki A-Star spotted in India originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 23 Jun 2008 17:28:00 EST. What viewers will see is a concept car called the Kizashi. It's likely to be a preview of a 2010 production model designed for global markets, probably including the U.S. Long seen as merely an economy car and SUV automaker, this model could help Suzuki further entrench itself into the mainstream.

Vehicles like the XL7 and SX4 have shown that people will buy Suzukis at slightly higher price levels, but this new concept will challenge the heart of the market. Styling, performance, and quality (nevermind that last recall) have all improved lately at Suzuki, so we're excited to see how this model shapes up. We wish we had pictures to show you now, but Suzuki itself has released nothing, not even a teaser image.

[Source: MotorAuthority]
Continue reading Suzuki readies Kizashi sedan concept for Frankfurt

Suzuki readies Kizashi sedan concept for Frankfurt originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 07 Aug 2007 14:58:00 EST. The Splash is the Suzuki version of the vehicle that will also be sold as the new Opel/Vauxhall Agila by General Motors. Built on a shortened Suzuki Swift platform and sporting different front and rear-end treatments than the Agila, the Splash design team focused specifically on the European market's tastes as it worked toward the final product shown here. It will be formally introduced to its target audience in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

European sales begin next Spring, and three engines will be available to customers: a 1.0-liter 64-horsepower 3-cylinder, a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder with 84 horses, and a 73-horsepower 1.3L 4-cylinder diesel. The compact 5-seater will be produced in Hungary alongside its GM-badged mechanical twins. From what Suzuki's shown so far, it's a nice-looking little car, with a simple, straightforward interior design. We're looking forward to seeing it (and its Agila sibling) in person come September.

Press release follows after the jump.

[Source: Suzuki]

Gallery: 2008 Suzuki Splash

Continue reading Suzuki releases new Splash pics and details

Suzuki releases new Splash pics and details originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 05 Jul 2007 09:33:00 EST.
We couldn't figure out why John was sending us pictures of a toy car from the Paris Motor Show until he filled us in that this is actually the very cute, very small Suzuki Splash concept. The little jellybean in Lagoon Blue is what Suzuki dubs a "clinic model," or the first step towards a new production vehicle.

The marketing guys at Suzuki say that it's a car for everything and anybody for every kind of trip, but we've heard that one before -- we peg this more as a driving machine for the young and cash-strapped, as well as senior citizens looking for something small and fun.

The exterior, Suzuki says, is inspired by the youthful quality one might find in a splash of water. LED lights abound, and the lines are fun and cartoonish. Check out the floating-look chrome A-pillar and the wraparound tail lights. The side mirrors incorporate cameras that feed into the center console display on the inside.

The interior is no small shakes either. The car is tall and the roof is glass, making it seem huge considering its small size. The floating look is evident in the instrument panel as well, where the gauges sit, bubble-like. Blue leather trim finishes off the look.

John snapped some great shots of the concept -- follow the jump and have a look.

The sneak peek comes at a price, however, particularly for those who suffer from epileptic seizures. Too many jump cuts made this blogger throw up in his mouth a little and fall of the chair. We were going to laboriously screen capture each image for you, but we're not sadists and found that our sadist friends over at Jalopnik had already done it, so head over there for a gallery of shots that just stay still and don't move. As for us, we'll wait until we arrive in Paris to pick you up some live shots of the Suzuki Splash from the show floor.

[Source: Suzuki Global via Caradisiac]
Suzuki gives us glimpse of Splash concept originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 14 Sep 2006 16:05:00 EST.
