Depending on where you live, you might be able to get a new 2010 Lotus Exige Stealth or 2010 Lotus Exige Scura, but not both, and neither unless you get crackin'. In anticipation of its official coming out party at the Tokyo Motor Show, Lotus just dropped the deets on a new special edition blacked out Lotus Exige alternatively known as the Stealth or Scura (Italian for 'dark') depending on market. Whatever they call it, it is one badass car. Only 35 will be built worldwide and none of them appear headed to the States unfortunately.

This newest Exige special looks menacing with its matte black paint, contrasting gloss black stripes and carbon fiber highlights. It's powered by the 260-hp version of the ubiquitous supercharged 4-cylinder and comes standard with launch control, traction control and 2-way adjustable Ohlins dampers. And thanks to the prodigious amount of carbon fiber inside and out, this featherweight flyer drops another 10kg, allowing it to do the 0-60 sprint in 4 seconds flat. It should also reach 100 in less than ten seconds on its way to a top speed of 152 mph. Brits who hustle over to their local Lotus shoppe will have to plunk down £45,000, while EU customers can expect to pay around €61.000. Check out the gallery of high-res pics below and a long press release after the jump.

Click the image above for a high-res gallery of the Citroen 2CV by Hermes

There are a lot of big birthdays in the car industry this year, and the Citroen 2CV joins GM and Land Rover in the candle-blowing crowd. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the deux-say-vay, Hermes created a special version of a 1989 Citroen 2CV6 Special for the Paris Auto Show. If you saw the Bugatti Veryon by Hermes you know what to expect, with hand-stitched swathes of Hermes trademark gray-beige leather contrasted with white on the front and rear benches. Of course the Hermes treatment is worth as much as the car itself, but anything the 2CV lacks in luxury is more than made up for by character. Check out the press release after the jump and the gallery of high-res photos below.

Gallery: Paris 2008: Citroen 2CV by Hermes

Continue reading Paris 2008: Citroen 2CV by Hermes

Paris 2008: Citroen 2CV by Hermes originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 04 Oct 2008 18:35:00 EST. In addition to versions by StudioTorino, Diesel and Abarth, not to mention a convertible and an F1-themed run of 12, Fiat is making a special edition 500 to celebrate the car's appearance in the movie Lupin III: Green vs Red.

The Japanese anime film itself celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Lupin III series of movies, which began in 1979 when gentleman thief Lupin III used a yellow Fiat 500. While the film is out now on DVD, the special edition Fiat 500 in yellow livery and graced with Lupin's image won't come around until the latter half of 2009, and probably only in Japan. If Fiat keeps this up, it might just challenge the Ford Mustang for the title of Most Gratuitous Special Editions Differentiated by Inconsequential Details. Thanks for the tip, catgirlshyla!

[Source: Fiat 500 News]
Fiat creates special edition Fiat 500 Lupin III originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 01 Oct 2008 08:59:00 EST. First of all, the Triple White Beetle Convertible does not have a white top, which is what we theorized when the initial press release came out. For it to be truly "triple white" the roof boot must be fitted when the top's down. Another nice detail is the embossed Beetle Convertible icon on the driver and passenger headrests.

The two Fahrenheit editions are nicely done, with their namesake colors (orange for GTI and yellow for the GLI) appearing on door, dashboard and steering wheel inserts, as well as in the contrast stitching on the leather wrapping the handbrake, steering wheel and shifter boot. The insert on the bottom steering wheel spoke is emblazoned with the Fahrenheit logo and shows which number of the 1,200 cars made you're sitting in.

Finally, the Wolfsburg Edition Jetta looks just like a fairly nicely appointed Jetta. Heavy-duty floormats, leatherette seating, and open-spoke five-star wheels are the package highlights, so-to-speak, but if this wasn't wearing the Wolfsburg badging, it wouldn't stand out from any other 2.5L Jetta.

So while we'd pass on the Jetta Wolfsburg, we'd gladly welcome either Fahrenheit into the driveway. And while Triple White (with the roof boot on) Beetle ragtops clearly aren't for everyone, this attractive package is sure to appeal to Beetle aficionados. VW was obviously looking for a way to mix things up a little, and for the most part, we like the results.

Check out the photo gallery after the jump for all the new pics.

Related Posts:
