Jeep JT planned for SEMA debut in November

Chrysler's Skunkwerks is really nothing more than a bunch of folks who use their spare time to make the kinds of vehicles they'd really like to build. That makes them just like a lot of us -- except that they have the full resources of Chrysler to pull from. One of their latest creations is the Jeep Wrangler JT, which is the Jeep pickup we've all been dreaming of. Built on a Wrangler Unlimited platform, keeps the Wrangler's engine and suspension, and adds a 5-foot bed, a 3-inch lift, a winch, and 35-inch tires. It will be making an appearance at SEMA later this year.

Autoblog got to drive it (around the parking lot), along with a few other cars sprung from the minds of Chrysler's gearheads. Look for a report and pics of the JT in Moab soon. And if you're wondering just what color that JT is, it's called Hearing Aid Beige. Really.

Nutha SEMA sled: Chrysler's SEMA Sebring

UPDATE: Added more info
UPDATE #2: Hi res pic below (click it) and more details from press release

Following yesterday's peak at the Chrysler 300C Pullman, we've learned of another concept (the third from the Chrysler Group by our count) that will be loaded onto a transport this weekend and shipped off to Las Vegas for the SEMA show. The SEMA Sebring improves upon the original front-wheel drive sedan by throwing out the filigree that overcomplicates the standard car's design. The most welcome deletion is the ribbed hood that was obviously meant as a visual nod to the Crossfire coupe, but comes across looking more like the top side of a wooden boat. In contrast, the SEMA Sebring's hood is glassy smooth save for a center rib and two large air vents that sweep back into the windshield. Underhood is reportedly a 4.0-liter V6, probably the same one found in the Pacifica that produces 253 hp and 262 ft-lbs. of torque. If that's the case, it's nice to know the 4.0-liter fits in the Sebring's bay. A mesh grille, new front bumper, side skirts and a rear diffuser round out the new exterior attributes.

Chrysler will have six SkunkWerks vehicles at the SEMA show this year. As we said before, we've already seen the Dodge Nitro Panel Wagon and Chrysler 300C Pullman, so three down and three more to go.

Just got more details from Ray at Jalopnik:
  • Builders: DaimlerChrysler vehicle build shops
  • 4.0L makes 285 horsepower and 295 lbs.-ft. of torque
