The three-door hatch does have a Prius-esqe front end, as we noted earlier, though it's more inspired by the Toyota hybrid's design than outright aping it. Otherwise, the design of the Shooting Sport is an exercise in restraint compared to many concept designs we've seen come out of China in the past few years. We particularly like the car's very tidy rear end, which locates the stop lamps up and to the side of the hatch glass. This leaves the sheetmetal below smooth and free of interruptions, much like the back end of the soon-to-be-cancelled Ford Focus ZX3 hatchback.<br /><br />This is also our first glimpse of the Shooting Sport concept's interior. While we're no fans of the pea green accenting, the overal design is simple and appears to have a lot of production potential. The concept car's white leather interior, however, will likely never the see light of a showroom.<br /><br />It's extremely important at this year's Shanghai Auto Show that Chinese automakers prove they can design vehicles that appeal to the aesthetic taste of the European and North American markets. The Shooting Star is one such vehicle, and a trip through the gallery should be proof enough for anyone. <br /><br /><strong><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/">Gallery: Chery Shooting Sport Concept</a></strong><br /><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/219235/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/dsc00460_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/219247/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/dsc00457_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/219246/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/dsc00456_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/219250/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/dsc00467_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept-2/219248/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/dsc00461_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/20/shanghai-auto-show-live-shots-of-the-chery-shooting-sport/">Shanghai Auto Show: LIVE shots of the Chery Shooting Sport</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2007 16:01:00 EST. An attractive three-door with a particularly Prius-esque look up front, the Shooting Sport appears to be production-ready save for some of the more concept-like elements inside the passenger cabin. For example, the fancy gauges, abundant white leather, green trim, and yellow mood lighting would likely go in favor of more conventional-looking, less costly materials. That said, the basic shapes of the console and IP are not unorthodox and could likely carry over. Power 8-way seats, a normal-looking DVD navigation system, and a 60/40 split back seat are among the other features on the concept that would probably transfer to a future production car. Save for the "inspired by" Toyota face, the rest of the car looks like something that wouldn't be out of place with a European marque's badge on the hood, and that's no bad thing, aesthetically. We'll have more on the Shooting Sport, including, we assume, powertrain info, when the Shanghai Motor Show gets rolling.<br /><br />[Source: Chery via Autoblog Chinese (<a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A//cn.autoblog.com/2007/04/16/shanghai-auto-chery-shooting-sport/&amp;hl=en&amp;langpair=zh|en&amp;tbb=1&amp;ie=UTF-8">Translated</a>)]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/16/chery-shooting-sport-concept-revealed/">Chery Shooting Sport Concept revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2007 15:05:00 EST. Our sister site, Autoblog Chinese, has sketches of one of the most anticipated: the Shooting Sport. From the looks of it, the automaker is readying a stylish three-door compact wagon, much in the same vein as the <strong><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/07/geneva-motor-show-renault-clio-grand-tour-concept/">Renault Clio Grand Tour Concept</a></strong> that made its debut earlier in the year at Geneva. Expect heavy dose of European style with a modern interior when the car officially breaks cover. Autoblog Chinese will have full coverage, of course. <br /><br />[Source: Autoblog Chinese]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/">Chery Shooting Sport Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/shootingsport001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/shootingsport002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/shootingsport003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/shootingsport004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chery-shooting-sport-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/shootingsport005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><span style="" onmouseover="_tipon(this)" onmouseout="_tipoff()"></span><span onmouseover="_tipon(this)" onmouseout="_tipoff()"></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/01/chery-to-unveil-shooting-sport-concept-at-shanghai-auto-show/">Chery to unveil Shooting Sport Concept at Shanghai Auto Show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 01 Apr 2007 14:33:00 EST.
