</small> <br />We managed to track down most of the Ford concept pickups on our last day at SEMA. Hidden across the street, right in the front of the outdoor lot, just under the huge "Built Ford Tough" sign, there they were. We saw the Performance West <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/sema-preview-performance-west-goes-smaller-with-f-150-striker-r/">Striker R F-150</a> and it's bigger brother <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/20/sema-preview-performance-west-group-ford-f-350-striker/">Striker F-350</a>, as well as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/30/sema-preview-ford-bringing-four-f-150s-to-sin-city/">Street Scene Equipment Lariat</a> that sort of reminded us of a certain bike-branded Ford truck. The F-150 Striker was reminiscent us of the Saleen S331 we sampled last year, and the F-350 was much the same only, uh, more so. We even came across an older Performance West version of the Striker sitting on the main sidewalk in front of the central hall.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/">SEMA 2008: Ford pickup concepts</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsematrucks---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsematrucks---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsematrucks---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsematrucks---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concepts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsematrucks---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/10/sema-2008-ford-pickup-concept-gallery/">SEMA 2008: Ford pickup concept gallery</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 08:01:00 EST. </small> <br />With Halloween behind us and most of the spooks and spectres returned to their natural realm, the Ghostbusters gang had some time to kill and headed over to the Las Vegas Convention Center to check out the excitement of SEMA. Fortunately for them they were given a prime parking spot right outside the hall. (We had to park half mile away or catch a cab.) The Ecto-1 attracted a lot of attention throughout the week, possibly because of the Ray Parker, Jr. soundtrack blaring from its stereo. It was a fan favorite for sure, and one of ours as well.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/">SEMA 2008: Ecto-1 in Vegas, baby</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ecto1---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ecto1---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ecto1---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ecto1---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ecto-1-in-vegas-baby/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ecto1---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-ecto-1-scares-up-plenty-of-attention-in-vegas/">SEMA 2008: Ecto-1 scares up plenty of attention in Vegas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 20:02:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of the ThunderFlite Thunderbird</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />Suzie and Dean Arnold dreamt of building a show car that would evoke the spirit of the dream cars that manufacturers used to build in the '50s and '60s. They decided to use a 1961 Thunderbird as the base vehicle and got long-time collaborator Don Johnson to finalize the design. Then Dean got to work building it. The result is the car you see here. To most of the people passing it at SEMA this week, they probably thought it was a vintage dream car rather than a modern custom. It certainly <em>looked </em>like it had just been dusted off and shined up after sitting mothballed for the past 40 years. Every detail seems period correct, and we particularly liked the Batmobile-esque double-bubble roof. <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of the Hennessey Ford GTs</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />Hennessey is perhaps more closely associated with Dodge Vipers to most people, but they also do work on Ford's late, great supercar, the Ford GT, too. What Hennessey does with the GT is sort of up to you. One option they can do is a swap, wherein the factory supercharger is removed and a pair of turbos are fitted. With additional modifications, that car can reach more than 235 mph. If it strikes you as a sacrilegious thing to do to a rare factory-supercharged car, you can keep your blower and simply add the twin turbos as well. They call that one the Ford GT1000 for the metric tonne of horsepower it produces. It can squirt from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and cover the quarter in 10.6 on its way past 240 mph. The company had one of each on hand at SEMA this year in front of the duPont Registry trailer. Decisions, decisions. We'll take one of each.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey Ford GTs</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-hennessey-shows-a-pair-of-turbocharged-ford-gts/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey shows a pair of turbocharged Ford GTs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 18:34:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Carbonite SL</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />If you were <em>this close </em>to purchasing an SLR but recent events concerning a guy named Lehman severely reduced your amount of disposable cash, then allow us to introduce you to the SL Carbonite. For the price of a 2003-2008 Mercedes SL, plus $47,400 for Carbonite's hood, fenders, front and rear fascias, lowered suspension and Mandrus 20-inch wheels, you can have an SL(R) for a song that's a lot less pricey than the Mercedes-McLaren. Carbonite has also said it will only build 20 of these cars per year, which means your money could get you even more exclusivity than the real thing. Of course, what your money can't do is erase the fact that you don't actually have the real thing -- but that hasn't stopped so many others... <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of K.I.T.T. and the Mio GPS</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />There were a lot of movie and TV-themed vehicles at SEMA this year, but one of our favorite entertainment tie-ins had to be the Mio Knight Rider GPS system. We told you about this way back in June, played with it when the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/02/in-the-autoblog-garage-kitt-shelby-gt500-kr/">K.I.T.T. visited the Autoblog Garage</a>, and messed with it some more in Vegas. It sounds exactly like you'd hope it would. "Michael, you're going the wrong way, you ninny," isn't in the regular playlist, but it did have some attitude. Even better than laying hands on the Mio, however, was the fact that K.I.T.T. ( no, not the Mustang) was actually in the Mio booth selling the product. It was almost too much to handle. As we told you in June, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/20/knight-rider-themed-gps-system-with-authentic-kitt-voice/">Mio Knight Rider GPS unit</a> uses the voice the one-and-only William Daniels, the original voice of K.I.T.T., and asks cordially "Hello Michael, where do you want to go today?" when powered up. The 4.3-inch LCD display is also flanked by a series of red LEDs reminiscent of K.I.T.T.'s nose-mounted lights. It's available for sale now at about $270. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/">SEMA 2008: K.I.T.T. helps sell GPS systems</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/kittformio---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/kittformio---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/kittformio---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/kittformio---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-gps-systems/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/kittformio---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-k-i-t-t-helps-sell-knight-rider-gps-for-mio/">SEMA 2008: K.I.T.T. helps sell Knight Rider GPS for Mio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 12:20:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of the Factory Five GTM</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />Factory Five is one of those companies that you may have heard of but probably don't know where. If you happen to correctly relate them to the car world, you might remember them as a kit car company, one of dozens of Cobra re-creators out there. Well, a few years back they decided to do something a little bit different. They created their own unique design rather than copying someone else's work. The result was the Factory Five GTM.<br /><br />Some see Ford GT40, others see Corvette and still others think it's an Ascari, Nobel, Rossion or even a Carrera GT. While it may somewhat resemble some of those other great shapes, it is truly something unique. Well, sort of. Like the <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/corvette-based-anteros-hits-the-market/">Anteros</a> we just told you about, there's a bit of Corvette in the mix. It uses a bespoke chassis, but is powered by an LS7 V8. Weighing in at just 2,350 lbs. it has the power-to-weight ratio of a Rolex Grand-Am prototype. It can get to sixty from a standstill in 3 seconds and cover the quarter in 11 flat. We saw one in Vegas at SEMA and when people asked about it in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-supercar-sightings/">supercar gallery post</a>, we decided it might need a little extra attention. Enjoy the gallery and if you decide you'd like one, you're in luck. Factory Five is offering $2,000 off the kits.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/">SEMA 2008: Factory Five GTM looks good in copper</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/factoryfivegtm---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/factoryfivegtm---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/factoryfivegtm---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/factoryfivegtm---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-good-in-copper/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/factoryfivegtm---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-factory-five-gtm-looks-slick-in-copper/">SEMA 2008: Factory Five GTM looks slick in copper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 10:30:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of the Charger Coupe</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />We had heard rumors that there was going to be a Dodge Charger Coupe at SEMA this year. We had hoped it would be something like the Charger show car from several years ago, the black one that looked a lot like the bad guy's car in Bullitt. In fact, that car was supposed to be made and shown at SEMA, but we never tracked it down. What we did find was probably just as good. If it wasn't going to be black, it might as well have been orange, and orange it was. Orange with a black confederate flag on the roof and a big "01" on the doors. Yep, it was the General Lee. In a year when we saw a Fast and Furious real Charger, a Bullitt movie Mustang, the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, and a smart fortwo that had made a trip to the Batcave, it was probably inevitable that we would find the General amidst all of the Challengers and other MOPARS on display. Not that we're complaining or anything.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/">SEMA 2008: General Lee Charger Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/08/sema-2008-charger-coupe-shows-up-in-general-lee-trim/">SEMA 2008: Charger Coupe shows up in General Lee trim</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 08 Nov 2008 19:06:00 EST. </small> <br />While most of our focus at SEMA was on the cars and products, we don't want yo to think that bikers are left out of the party. There were dozens of great bikes all over the convention halls. Some were custom designs, others modified street bikes and still others were concepts showcasing new technology. This year we saw everything from an electric and a hybrid, to a lift-off body bike and a Craftsman-themed cycle. Starting off with a Chevy Avalanche, the team layered on some BASF paint and added a ProCharger blower, Corsa exhaust, Superlift suspension, GWG 20-inch wheels wrapped in Toyo tires, Katzkin leather interior, custom bodywork and grille, auxiliary lights and brush guards and a whole bunch of A/V equipment. Oh, and there's a guitar; drumsticks; fog machine; laser lighting; airbrushed graphics of Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Bun E. Carlos; band vinyls and a Rockband video game, all to remind us that this is, after all, the Cheap Trick Dream Police Tactical Vehicle. Our absolute favorite touches include the checkerboard wheels and interior trim and those <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/1143077/">sweet sideview mirrors</a> (look closely). This Budokan baddie is the ultimate reunion tour crowd control vehicle. We'll just call it That '70s Truck.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/">SEMA 2008: Cheap Trick Dream Police Tactical Vehicle</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cheaptricktruck---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cheaptricktruck---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cheaptricktruck---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cheaptricktruck---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cheaptricktruck---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-cheap-trick-dream-police-tactical-vehicle/">SEMA 2008: Cheap Trick Dream Police Tactical Vehicle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 15:54:00 EST. </small> <br />As much as we love its tires, we are really upset with Michelin. Where is the annual supercar lovefest that has been the Michelin SEMA booth? <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/01/sema-2007-michelin-supercar-display/">Last year's display</a> was an incredible assortment of stock, tuned and race vehicles from Audi, Chevrolet and Porsche. The year before that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/03/sema-gallery-greatest-supercar-display-ever-from-michelin/">Michelin booth</a> had a Caparo T1, Koenigsegg, RUF, Saleen S7, McLaren F1, Bugatti Veyron and Pagani Zonda. Those are tough acts to follow for supercar fans, so Michelin just decided to stop trying and didn't show this year. In all fairness, a lot of companies are absent or here with a much smaller setup. Something about the economy. Although it's a little tougher now, it's still possible for a SEMA showgoer to get a healthy dose of supercar exposure, though. It just takes a little more shoe leather or a click of your finger to see some of this year's supercars in our gallery below. In it you'll see cars from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144035/">Mosler</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144037/">Spyker</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144038/">Ferrari</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144033/">Lamborghini</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144043/">Chevy</a>, Factory Five, Porsche, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144039/">Aston Martin</a> and more. There were also quite a few race cars scattered around the halls this year that we thought you might like to see, as well.<em> Check out the huge gallery by clicking on any image.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/">SEMA 2008: Supercars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/">SEMA 2008: Racecars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-supercar-sightings/">SEMA 2008: Supercar sightings from show floor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 14:58:00 EST. </small> <br />What would <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/SEMA/">SEMA</a> be without all of those outrageous graphics and paintjobs? There are thousands of vehicles here and many sport wild hues and stripes to attract attention. With our coverage of the 2008 SEMA Show winding down, we've collected a gallery of some of the ones that really caught our attention. While many are incredibly distasteful, some are just very unusual color choices while others are merely cool or interesting graphics. Some we like, some not so much. You'll likely have some favorites and supreme faux paus, as well. Check out the gallery below to judge for yourself.<em><br /></em><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/">SEMA 2008: Randomly outrageous paintjobs and graphics</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/outrageouspaint---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/outrageouspaint---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/outrageouspaint---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/outrageouspaint---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/outrageouspaint---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><strong><br />Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-randomly-outrageous-paintjobs-and-graphics/">SEMA 2008: Randomly outrageous paintjobs and graphics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 13:27:00 EST. Below is a gallery that highlights some of that flotsam and jetsam for all of you to see. It's the kind of random madness that makes SEMA, well, <em>SEMA</em>: Tribute cars, skyscraper lift kits, cartoonish body kits, Technocolor paint jobs, and, of course, the outrageously inappropriate wheel and tire upgrades. Granted, most of the vehicles on display here in Vegas are designed to attract attention, but if they scare people away, we don't know if they're really serving any purpose. Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and most of these projects have hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours in them, so we don't want to be too critical. One man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say. Just seems we've hit the jackpot here.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/">SEMA 2008: Random acts of madness</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/randommadness---001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/randommadness---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/randommadness---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/randommadness---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/randommadness---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Brad Wood, Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-random-acts-of-madness/">SEMA 2008: Random acts of madness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 11:57:00 EST. <p>Ford apparently brought the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/sema-2008-ford-ready-to-go-drag-racing-with-fr500cj-cobra-jet-m/">FR500CJ Cobra Jet Mustang</a> to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/SEMA/">SEMA</a> straight from one of its testing sessions, because there was still plenty of shredded Goodyear rubber lining the fenders behind the rear wheels. The graphics package looks fantastic in person, and we're jealous of the 50 lucky owners who have already placed their orders for the car. </p>
<p>Many of you have been wondering, and we've asked the question ourselves, why the Cobra Jet is "only" rated at 400 horsepower. After all, the GT500, which also features a 5.4L supercharged V8, puts out 500. We asked around at Ford and found that the Cobra Jet has been de-tuned to meet specifications needed for NHRA's AA Stock class. The official horsepower figure has yet to be finalized, but expect it to be right around 400 as quoted before. </p>

<p>With the exception of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/DodgeChallenger/">Dodge Challenger</a>, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/NissanGTR/">Nissan GT-R</a> seems to be the vehicle of choice for SEMA. In addition to the numerous Nissan tuners, it seemed that nearly every wheel and tire manufacturer had Godzilla manning its booth. We were determined to see all the different variations, and did our best to photograph everyone we came across. We've assembled <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-top-ten-nissan-gtrs/1143931/">our ten favorite GT-Rs</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-nissan-gtrs/">put together a huge gallery of all the GT-Rs</a> at this year's SEMA show. <br /></p>

</small> <br />Toyo Tires has one of the coolest booths at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a> this year. We already showed you the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-tetsu-gtr-needs-to-stay-in-vegas/">Tetsu Bentley</a> they have on display, but they also have a sweet Evo and GT-R, a custom Cayenne and this beautiful hot rod. It's based on a 1931 Studebaker Model 54, but features a few modifications... to put it mildly. Motivation comes courtesy of a Chevy 350 with an Edelbrock intake, three, two-barrel carbs with open stacks, and a "Zoomie" open header exhaust system. The custom chassis rides on an equally custom air-ride suspension and Centerline smoothies wrapped in Toyo Proxes. As you can probably tell from the pics, it also has a totally customized body and interior that makes it one of the most attractive cars at the show. <em>Check out the gallery for a bunch of high-res pics.<br /><br /></em><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/">SEMA 2008: Choppin' Block '31 Studebaker Model 54</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/31studebaker54---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/31studebaker54---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/31studebaker54---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/31studebaker54---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/31studebaker54---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-choppin-block-31-studebaker-model-54/">SEMA 2008: Choppin' Block '31 Studebaker Model 54</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 18:02:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.goprocamera.com/">GoPro</a> Hero digital videocamera is like creating SpeedTV for the masses... without the non-stop NASCAR coverage. The three-megapixel Hero is the world's smallest on-board camera, and it sticks to anything without fuss. It has 16 MB of internal storage, but you can blow that out to 2 GB, good for about 56 minutes. It's got a self-timer, a USB and RCA cable included, works on PC and Mac, and because of its nifty plastic case, you can use it in the rain. And unlike a SpeedTV production, the Hero will only cost you $180. Can we get an "amen!"? <br />The first word that came to mind when we saw the Knight XV was this: warthog. Sure, there are other words you could use, but consider this: it's not attractive, it's ridiculously tough, it's called in to deal with nasty situations and it kills things, all of which tend to be the traits of vehicles that earn the moniker "warthog." Based on the <a href="http://www.aavi.com/">Gurkha</a> military vehicle, the 10,000-pound, Ford F-350 Super Duty-based Knight XV is armored to an unspecified degree, but looks like it will stop more than a pea-shooter. It's got a 6.8-liter V10 that packs 400 hp and 500 lb-ft to keep you moving, and inboard ABS brakes to get you stopped. Those tires are 40-inchers wrapped around 20-inch aircraft-grade wheels. Oh, and it also runs on E85, which means it's more environmentally friendly than any other warthog. Except the hairy one. Check out the specs after the jump, and the gallery of high-res photos below featuring details shots and images of the interior, as well.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/">SEMA 2008: Knight XV Armored Vehicle</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01knight_kv_av_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02knight_kv_av_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03knight_kv_av_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04knight_kv_av_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-vehicle/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05knight_kv_av_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-suv-lets-you-take-your-undergound-l/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Knight XV armored SUV lets you take your undergound lair with you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-knight-xv-armored-suv-lets-you-take-your-undergound-l/">SEMA 2008: Knight XV armored SUV lets you take your undergound lair with you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 17:06:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ChevroletCamaro/">Chevrolet Camaro</a> may be the "official" vehicle of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/SEMA/">SEMA</a>, but you can't walk more than a few feet without tripping over the Pentastar's new pony car. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/DodgeChallenger/">Dodge Challenger</a> is a ubiquitous presence on the floor this year, only matched by the number of mediocre booth babes and the appropriately cheap parts they're paid to shill. <br /><br />With so many Challengers lining the halls, it's almost impossible to get the details on each coupe, but we've assembled a list of our favorites, ranging from Mopar's own offerings to the mom-and-pop shops that have made the Challenger the <em>un</em>-official muscle car of SEMA.<br /><br />Click the button below to start wading through Challengers, and note that the name of each vehicle links to either our post on the car or to more high-res images.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-10-challengers-worth-loving-or-loathing/1143469/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semachallengers_opt.png" alt="" /></a><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-10-challengers-worth-loving-or-loathing/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: 10 Challengers worth loving or loathing</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-10-challengers-worth-loving-or-loathing/">SEMA 2008: 10 Challengers worth loving or loathing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 16:36:00 EST. While he is one of the men generally acknowledged for creating the original Batmobile, he hasn't shown anything with those trademark wings since Joel Schumacher almost ruined the franchise. And then we passed this in the North Hall at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/SEMA/">SEMA</a> today. Maybe it was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/1143397/">Catwoman</a> standing next to it, but the Batsmart instantly takes us back with those trademark <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/1143162/">high-mounted rear wings</a>, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/1143161/">rear jet exhaust</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/1143163/">roof-mounted flutes</a> and vertical doors. We don't have many details, but we really don't need them. Just look at it - it's a smart fortwo wearing a Batmobile costume for Halloween! <br /><br />Maybe gas has risen to $11 a gallon in Gotham and this is the best Bruce Wayne can do. Who knows? We've actually heard that 40 lucky Bat fans will be able to get their hands on one of these in the near future. The standard package won't include the roof flutes or rear chutes and exhaust, but they will be available options. Keep your eye on smart42parts.com website for updates. Meanwhile, we don't think our modern day Caped Crusader has any plans to replace his Tumbler with this toddler. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/">SEMA 2008: Barris BatSMART</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/batsmart---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/batsmart---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/batsmart---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/batsmart---14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-barris-batsmart/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/batsmart---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-batsmart-by-barris/">SEMA 2008: The Batsmart by Barris</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 15:25:00 EST.
