At least three of us Autobloggers are in love with this car. McTaylor prefers to keep his daily driver looking fairly understated, with only the really cool 2.3 fender badges giving a little bit away. Even then, it's only those in the know that will even pay attention to such details. As it is a daily driver, the mods aren't too wild. The boost has been pumped up to 18 psi by means of a manual boost control valve tricking the wastegate a bit. Premium is a must with that much boost, but we're betting it's a real hoot in the colder weather now gripping the nation (if it's not planted in a snowbank). The rest of the drivetrain remains stock, from the clutch, through the notchy goodness of a T5 to the Traction-Lok rearend. Factory alloys made of Unobtanium have been swapped out for a set of custom-drilled Kosei K1R's wrapped in BFG rubber.<br /><br />More after the jump<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/04/rr-of-the-day-1986-mustang-svo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>RR of the Day - 1986 Mustang SVO</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/04/rr-of-the-day-1986-mustang-svo/">RR of the Day - 1986 Mustang SVO</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 04 Dec 2006 10:09:00 EST. On today's episode, the intrepid Christopher Paukert and
myself go over Audi's ostentatious debut of its new TT coupe, observe a moment of silence for the industry's loss of
MPH Magazine and finally, we get all green up in this thing talking about my experience with a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta
TDi that runs on grease from a dumpster. Good times... hope you enjoy.<br /><br />Get the podcast<br />[<a
href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=">iTunes</a>]
Subscribe to the podcast directly in iTunes (MP3).<br />[<a href="http://podcasts.autoblog.com/rss.xml">RSS</a>] Add the
Autoblog Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically (MP3).<br />[<a
href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/podcasts/auto20060406_0028.mp3">MP3</a>] Download the show (MP3).<br />[<a
href="http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=1708">Vote</a>] Vote for us in Podcast Alley!<br /><br
/>Hosts<br />John Neff and Chris Paukert<br /><br />Producer<br />John Neff<br /><br />Length<br />34:08<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/07/autoblog-podcast-28/">Autoblog Podcast #28</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Apr 2006 12:25:00 EST. Unlike <a
href="http://www.biodiesel.org/resources/biodiesel_basics/default.shtm">biodiesel</a>, which is produced by chemically
modifying vegetable oil so that it can be used in a diesel vehicle with no modifications, SVO requires a second fuel
system for the vegetable oil in addition to the standard diesel fuel system. Also, one doesn't operate and fill
up an SVO vehicle like a normal petrol or diesel car. It sounds like a lot of work, so why are more and more people
kicking up the veggie quotient of their diesels' diet? We decided to look into it.<br /><br />No automaker offers
an SVO-powered vehicle in its line-up, so tapping a press fleet for a quick evaluation was out of the question.
Fortunately we stumbled upon Chuck and Tom Norton, a pair of sibs who run <a
href="http://www.turtleplastics.com/">Turtle Plastics</a>, an eco-friendly plastics business in Lorain, OH.&nbsp; The
Norton boys recently had a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDi converted to run on SVO. Though Tom's the primary driver,
Chuck was happy to hand over the keys to their "Vega Jet" for a spin last week and helped us understand
what it's like to own and operate a vehicle that eats out of a dumpster. Let us explain...<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/04/in-the-autoblog-driveway-2003-vw-jetta-svo-straight-vegetable/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>In the Autoblog Driveway: 2003 VW Jetta SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/04/in-the-autoblog-driveway-2003-vw-jetta-svo-straight-vegetable/">In the Autoblog Driveway: 2003 VW Jetta SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 04 Apr 2006 12:13:00 EST.
