<br />
Stonehenge, Rosebud, The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd - all have confounded us with their hidden meanings. And to that list we now add the logo for the Dodge Viper. Somehow it has eluded us for years that, when turned upside down, the Viper logo turns into what appears to be... Daffy Duck. Or, as some other folks have mentioned, perhaps it's Duck Dodgers, or Darkwing Duck. Someone else thought it was "a gator with a volcano in the background," but we have no idea how that happened...<br />
<br />
Regardless of which name that foul goes by, it's quite a revelation to make this late into the Viper game. If there were any meaning intended from the inversion, we'd expect it to be a swan, not a duck. But what does it all mean? History might know. For now, it's just another one of those quirks that is the Dodge Viper, and yet another reason we'll miss it <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/04/chryslers-5-year-business-plan-the-product-breakdown/">when it departs in 2011</a>. <em>Thanks to everyone for the tips!</em><br />

Driven onstage by NEXTEL Cup driver Kurt Busch, the new Viper SRT-10 dons the brass knuckles to throw down with the Corvette Z06, over which it now holds a 100-horsepower advantage because, you know, 500 horsepower is so<em> pass&eacute;</em>. The new snake improves upon itself with a revised 8.4L V10 that now dishes out 600 horsepower and 560 lbs of torque. That, in turn, facilitates 0-60 time of under four seconds and a 0-100-0 time that comes in at under twelve ticks. Let the horsepower wars continue! This is fun to watch.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/129763/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/dodge-viper---07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/129771/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/dodge-viper---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/129784/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/dodge-viper---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/129780/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/dodge-viper---14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/129778/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/dodge-viper---15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" /></a><br /><br /><strong>For our comprehensive listing of everything from Detroit, click <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/detroit-auto-show-debuts-and-galleries/">here</a>.</strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/09/detroit-auto-show-2008-dodge-viper-with-extra-bite/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit Auto Show: 2008 Dodge Viper -- with extra bite!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/09/detroit-auto-show-2008-dodge-viper-with-extra-bite/">Detroit Auto Show: 2008 Dodge Viper -- with extra bite!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Jan 2007 13:18:00 EST. As many already know, <a href="http://www.mclarenperformance.com/eportal/">McLaren Performance Technologies</a> (the U.S. company, not the <a href="http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/homepage.htm">German one</a> associated with Mercedes-Benz) assisted Dodge in massaging the V10, though one could still argue that with 8.4-liters of displacement, the Viper's engine is still not reaching its full potential. <br /><br />The only change to the car's exterior is the new hood with six vents that will help dissipate the crazy amount of heat coming from below. Of course, heat will likely waft off the new Viper pretty fast considering its owners will be able to reach 60 mph even faster, sometime in the mid to high 3-second range, and return back to 0 mph in less than 100 ft. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/117927/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/12/dg008_015vp_250_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/117970/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/12/dg008_016vp_250_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/117929/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/12/dg008_008vp_250_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/117924/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/12/dg008_020vp_250_thumbnail.jpg" /><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/12/dg008_013vp_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><br /><br />There's lots more to learn about the new Viper, so check out more info and the full press release after the jump, and don't forget to gander at our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10/"><strong>mega high-res gallery</strong></a> of Dodge's updated halo car with a total of 22 pics you can use as your desktop wallpaper. <br /><br />[Source: Dodge, Jalopnik]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/28/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10-breaks-cover-ahead-of-schedule/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 breaks cover ahead of schedule</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/28/2008-dodge-viper-srt-10-breaks-cover-ahead-of-schedule/">2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 breaks cover ahead of schedule</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 Dec 2006 03:08:00 EST. <p>This video is an excellent example of Newton's Third Law. For every action (inexperienced or unknowledgeable driver spends $45K on 505 horsepower Dodge Ram SRT-10, looking forward to many days of enjoyable driving) there is an equal and opposite reaction (takes it to the drag strip on day one and destroys it!) Having spent time in many of these trucks on comparison drives while working at Ford SVT, I can tell you from experience that they must be driven with respect and finesse or many days at the track will end just like this poor guy's! Unfortunately he learned about 8 seconds too late that sometimes it is better to just lift and try again another day.</p>
