<br />During both our first drive and in our full review, we concluded that the 2010 Ford Mustang has raised the bar for modern day pony cars. The sculpted body, finely tuned suspension, higher quality interior and additional horsepower make it one of the best Stangs to ever come from the Blue Oval's stable. With a flood of aftermarket variants sure to come, we couldn't help but wonder if the new Mustang would provide an even better platform to work with, or if tuners might struggle to improve on an already excellent product. We now have the answer.<br /> <br /> Roush, who were given inside access to the 2010 Mustang by Ford for their own product development, were first to market with their 427R Mustang that was unveiled back in March. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to get behind the wheel, and recently spent a full week with the 427R. Was Roush able to use their five years of experience with the S197 platform to capitalize on the upgrades and refinements made available in the 2010 Mustang? Read on to find out.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/">Review: 2010 Roush 427R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/roush427r2010fd_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/roush427r2010fd_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/roush427r2010fd_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/roush427r2010fd_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-roush-427r-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/roush427r2010fd_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong style="font-style: italic;"><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/review-2010-roush-427r-raises-bar-for-mustang-tuners/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2010 Roush 427R raises bar for Mustang tuners</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/review-2010-roush-427r-raises-bar-for-mustang-tuners/">Review: 2010 Roush 427R raises bar for Mustang tuners</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 11:57:00 EST. Naturally, a host of changes have been made which differentiate the Trak Pak from the standard 427R. The 427R's plenty powerful (435 hp/400 lb.-ft.), but to make it really track-ready, Roush bestowed the Trak Pack with improved cooling, enhanced chassis rigidity, a fully-overhauled suspension, upgraded 6-piston brakes, and a new aero kit with an optional adjustable rear wing (as shown above). New 18" wheels, extra-sticky rubber, and unique graphics cap off the 427R Trak Pak's imposing look. The interior is similarly upgraded with a performance gauge package, shift light, short-throw shifter, leather sport seats, and aluminum pedals. Roush expects many buyers to use the 427R Trak Pack as a daily driver in addition to flogging it on a closed course, hence the presence of the comfort items like the leather seats. Pricing's been set at $58,245 and production will be limited to 100 cars, which will start becoming available later this summer. Follow the jump for the complete skinny from Roush, which calls the 427R Trak Pak its best-handling Mustang ever.<br /><br />[Source: Roush]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/roush-427r-trak-pak/low/">Roush 427R Trak Pak</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/roush-427r-trak-pak/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/427r_trakpak_hi002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/roush-427r-trak-pak/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/427r_trakpak_hi001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/roush-427r-trak-pak/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/427r_trakpak_hi003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/20/roush-caters-to-weekend-racers-with-the-427r-trak-pak-mustang/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ROUSH caters to weekend racers with the 427R Trak Pak Mustang</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/20/roush-caters-to-weekend-racers-with-the-427r-trak-pak-mustang/">ROUSH caters to weekend racers with the 427R Trak Pak Mustang</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 20 Jul 2007 10:32:00 EST. After decades of rehashed Fox-platformed Mustangs that could barely get out of their own way, the new DEW98-derived DC2 'Stang promised so much more. At just over $25,000 for a 300hp GT, it delivered big time in the bang for the buck category. With such a low entrance fee, the platform really allows for things to be taken up a notch or two. Seems everybody and their mother are offering tuned Mustangs with body kits, wheel and tire packages, and enough underhood goodies to make that 300 hp look positively anemic. <br /><br />We've already profiled several of these and have even had our grubby little hands wrapped around the steering wheel of a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-roush-427r/">Roush 427R</a> for a week. While we're still waiting for Ford's own super 'Stang, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/31/sema-fords-builds-a-gt500-for-street-strip-and-scary-track-dri/">GT500</a>, to find its way into the AB garage, specialty manufacturer <a href="http://www.saleen.com/">Saleen</a> stepped up to offer us a sampling of their current lineup. Although our first choice <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/13/new-york-auto-show-2007-saleen-parnelli-jones-limited-edition-m/">Parnelli Jones limited edition</a> was previously spoken for, we know that we will get one soon. In its place we were able to park a <a href="http://www.saleen.com/s281_sc_convt.htm">2006 S281 Supercharged convertible</a>. With 435 hp under its lightweight hood, we figured it might be an acceptable substitution. <br /><br />And we weren't disappointed. This sucker is fast. And fun, if you can define fun as having dozens of strangers speed up to get a pic of you on the freeway, giving you thumbs up at a stop light, fielding questions from bright-eyed young ladies at every (frequent) gas stop, and being able to light up the tires at will in almost any gear at almost any speed. Those are a few ways we usually define fun, so it seems we have a winner here. But is living with one for a few days as much fun as it seems? Read on for the whole story.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/12/in-the-autoblog-garage-saleen-s281-supercharged-mustang-convert/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>In the Autoblog Garage: Saleen S281 Supercharged Mustang Convertible</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/12/in-the-autoblog-garage-saleen-s281-supercharged-mustang-convert/">In the Autoblog Garage: Saleen S281 Supercharged Mustang Convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Jan 2007 14:58:00 EST. Enter the ROUSH 427R: the most powerful Roush Mustang to date. This new fire-breather is based on the already-impressive <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/27/roush-unleashes-stage-3-mustang/">ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang</a>, but improves on that car's power numbers as it tacks on an additional 12 horses for a total of 427, hence the name.<br /><br />The requisite body kit is standard, as are chromed 18" wheels, a stripe package and exclusive badging. In addition, the 427R gets an all-new suspension tune. Buyers can work with Roush to fully personalize their rides by choosing from an assortment of Roush accessories ranging from items like a gauge package to full leather seating.<br /><br />All we know is that we want one in the Autoblog Garage post-haste.
