4Radio controlled airplane can fly for 10 hours on 500 grams of hydrogen

The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) has built and demonstrated a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that can fly for up to ten hours using 500 grams of liquefied hydrogen fuel. The hydrogen is the energy carrier which appears to provide electricity to an electric motor via a fuel cell. At this time, the plane is piloted from the ground using radio control, but the team says that they are close to implementing an automatic pilot system, meaning that the machine would not

15R/C car going for 200mph speed record

It's hard enough to get a full-sized vehicle slurping gasoline and sitting on 10-inch wide rubber to reach 200 mph, so imaging trying to reach the lofty speed with a home made remote control car powered by a 29.6-volt electric motor and running on foam based tires. The current R/C land speed record is held by R/C enthusiast Nic Case, who managed 134.4mph.

7VIDEO: Scale-model R/C off-roading

We like offroading vids as much as anyone, because they show just how much many of the SUVs we roll in are actually capable of. We're also suckers for cool toys, and the video that follows the jump combines both of these interests to great effect. Pretty cool stuff...enjoy.

4Time waster of the day: Stupid-fast RC car

For those of you who haven't kept up with radio-controlled car technology since the days of the original RC10 and Tamiya Grasshopper, well, things have changed just a bit. Thanks to lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries and inexpensive brushless DC motors, RC enthusiasts now have access to more power than we could dream about just a few years ago.
