<br />By now, we've all seen plenty of images of the production <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/chevy+volt/">2011 Chevrolet Volt</a>. Up until this point, though, all of the shots that General Motors have let out have been of the car in a happy shade of silver. Not any more, as our friend John McElroy from Autoline Daily <a href="http://www.autolinedetroit.tv/daily/?p=4383#more-4383">managed to score</a> the world's first shots of what he says is the final production design of the Volt in stealthy black paint. The shady motif is broken up somewhat by a chrome accent that runs down each side of the car and flips back near the side-view mirrors and the large faux grille, which still bears a patterned appearance that mimics the look of a standard opening.<br /><br />McElroy also got the chance to spend some time behind the wheel of GM's latest Cruze-based Volt mule, and he plans to add his initial thoughts to <a href="http://www.autolinedetroit.tv/journal/">his Journal</a> later today. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/09/autoline-daily-provides-first-look-at-production-chevrolet-volt/">Hit the jump</a> to watch the video after the break.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/">2010 Chevy Volt - Final Production Design</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/06/voltfinaldesign002_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/06/voltfinaldesign000_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/06/voltfinaldesign001_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/06/voltfinaldesign004_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-volt-final-production-design/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/06/picture-8_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autolinedetroit.tv/daily/?p=4383#more-4383">Autoline Daily</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/09/autoline-daily-provides-first-look-at-production-chevrolet-volt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Autoline Daily provides first look at production Chevrolet Volt in black [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/09/autoline-daily-provides-first-look-at-production-chevrolet-volt/">Autoline Daily provides first look at production Chevrolet Volt in black [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Jun 2009 15:30:00 EST. Last week we brought you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/28/reader-spy-chevy-volt-caught-from-the-beltline-up/">spy video and images</a> of what appeared to be a production Volt on the set of <em>Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</em>, and while General Motors has since revealed that what we saw was not necessarily the series hybrid's final form (and that it was actually <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/09/03/transformers-2-volts-secret-identity-revealed/">a rebodied, gas-powered Malibu</a>), it nonetheless proved that the Volt's design is nearing the end of its gestation. Today GM revealed to <em>Automotive News</em> that the production Volt will, in fact, be unveiled this month as part of the automaker's 100-year anniversary celebration. The main events for the celebration are Monday, Sept. 15th and Tuesday, Sept. 16th, so we expect the car to be unveiled on one of those two days. <br /><br />Ford Motor Company celebrated its centennial in 2003 and used the occasion to debut an equally exciting yet very different vehicle: the Ford GT. Fast forward five years and the hottest vehicle on everyone's mind is not a supercar, but a series hybrid. Times have certainly changed.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/">Production Chevy Volt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/voltfrontxg7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/volt-t2-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/005_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/003_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/001_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080904/ANA02/809049951/1128/rss02&amp;rssfeed=rss02">Automotive News</a>, sub. req'd]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/04/gm-production-chevy-volt-will-be-unveiled-this-month/">GM: Production Chevy Volt will be unveiled this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 04 Sep 2008 14:29:00 EST. In 2006, he noticed that an image of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/24/cadillac-peak-on-60-minutes-turns-out-to-be-next-cts/">Bob Lutz lifting the veil</a> on one corner of the yet-to-be-released 2008 Cadillac CTS could be easily manipulated in Photoshop to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/27/introducing-the-2008-cadillac-cts-courtesy-of-photoshop/">reveal the car's entire front end</a>. GM recently gave us a similar peek of the production Chevy Volt on a segment that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/inside-the-volt-in-video/">aired on ABC News</a>, and Michael C has once again used Photoshop to give us a very clear view of the production Volt's front end. <br /><br />Yesterday, of course, we got our fill of the production Chevy Volt when <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/28/reader-spy-chevy-volt-caught-from-the-beltline-up/">video of it on the set of <em>Transformers 2: Revenge</em></a> of the Fallen hit the web and a spy shot of the car's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/28/spy-shot-chevy-volt-interior-maybe/">iPod-like interior</a> surfaced. While screen grabs from that video showed us an overall view of the Volt from a distance, this is the first time we have an idea of what the car looks like from point blank range. The front end is ultra slippery, a far cry from the concept's unaerodynamic face, but the general look is similar. We're not too far off from GM's official reveal of the production Volt, which could happen as soon as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Paris-Motor-Show/">Paris Motor Show</a> in October. Check out a higher-res version by clicking the pic above, along with all the images we've collected of the production Chevy Volt so far. <em>Thanks for the pic, Michael!</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/">Production Chevy Volt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/voltfrontxg7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/volt-t2-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/005_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/003_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/001_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/29/photoshop-voodoo-gives-close-up-view-of-chevy-volt/">Photoshop voodoo gives close-up view of Chevy Volt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 29 Aug 2008 12:29:00 EST. We've pasted a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/17/video-larger-of-view-of-production-volt-debut-at-centennial/">video of the presentation</a> and slide show after the break, and in it Boniface notes how the concept's straight lines and tight corners have been smoothed over and rounded out in an effort to reduce turbulence. This streamlining improves the Volt's fuel mileage, range on electricity and the amount of regenerative braking that can be captured. Also seen for the first time is a rear shot of the Volt, showing a pronounced "vertical fin," and a new rear spoiler design. Likewise, the side-view mirrors' mounting arrangement was revised for reduced aerodynamic drag. These changes, along with countless others which have not been fully revealed, have allowed the Volt's engineers and designers to increase EV-only range by six to seven miles. <br /><br /> While we're salivating over all the little tidbits of information on the Volt, we look forward to its official debut expected in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/18/production-trim-chevy-volt-to-be-shown-in-paris/">Paris</a> at the Motor Show this October. However, recent rumors indicate that the extended-range electric-vehicle could be seen at GM's Centennial celebration on September 16. <span style="font-style: italic;">Thanks for the tip, Emil</span>!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/">Production Chevy Volt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/voltfrontxg7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/volt-t2-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/005_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/003_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/production-chevy-volt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/001_voltspyprod_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Sources: <a href="http://gm-volt.com/2008/08/14/exclusive-interview-with-chevy-volt-chief-designer-about-the-production-car/">GM-Volt</a>, <a href="http://www.greenfuelsforecast.com/ArticleDetails.php?articleID=565">Green Fuels Forecast</a>, <a href="http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080818/BUSINESS01/808180328">The Detroit Free Press</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/18/video-larger-of-view-of-production-volt-debut-at-centennial/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Larger of view of production Volt, debut at centennial?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/18/video-larger-of-view-of-production-volt-debut-at-centennial/">VIDEO: Larger of view of production Volt, debut at centennial?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 18 Aug 2008 15:30:00 EST. Channel 4 reports that we can expect to see the U.S. production-spec Volt on display in the City of Lights. That's big news in and of itself, and we're wondering if GM will use the occasion to tell Europe when they can plan on getting an Opel-branded E-Flex ride of their own. Hmmm... An official Camaro unveiling this summer and now the production Volt in <em>Paris</em>? Color us intrigued about what GM plans to blow everyone away with in Detroit next January.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.channel4.com/4car/news/news-story.jsp?news_id=17499">Channel 4</a> via <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05/18/paris-preview-chevy-volt-to-be-seen-in-production-form/">AutoblogGreen</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/18/production-trim-chevy-volt-to-be-shown-in-paris/">REPORT: Production-trim Chevy Volt to be shown in Paris</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 18 May 2008 18:39:00 EST.
