<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche/">Porsche</a> rolled out the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/05/la-preview-porsche-reveals-new-lightweight-boxster-spyder-w-vi/">2010 Boxster Spyder</a>, the third model in the Boxster lineup, for its world debut at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/la-auto-show/">LA Auto Show</a>, with an entirely new look and - we are led to believe - a driving personality nearly on par with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/16/frankfurt-2009-porsche-911-gt3-rs-goes-180-mph-before-coming-to/">911 GT3 RS</a>.<br />
<br />
Hidden deep and low in the belly of the Spyder is a tuned version of Porsche's 3.4-liter flat-six, rated at 320 hp (ten more than the Boxster S). While the added horses are welcome, it's the 176 pounds of mass lost that really raises our interest. To achieve these savings, Porsche has fitted the Spyder with a lightweight carbon fiber-ribbed soft top, unique rear decklid, low side windows, aluminum door skins and interior door panels with straps swapped from the 911 GT3 RS. Air conditioning, cupholders and an audio system have been left back on the factory floor (don't worry, Porsche will let you add them back for a price). With a curb weight of just 2,811 pounds, it is the lightest model in Porsche's lineup. With a power-to-weight ratio rivaling the Carrera S, the Boxster Spyder with a dual-clutch PDK transmission will now rip to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.<br />
<br />
However, that's only part of the enthusiast-oriented story. Porsche replaced the dampers with an all-new sport suspension, riding 20 mm lower than the other models, to drop the center of gravity and improve handling over the standard <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/boxster">Porsche Boxster</a> and Boxster S. Fitted with a standard limited-slip differential and lightweight wheels, the package looks just fine to us. As expected, the pure driving enjoyment of the Porsche Boxster Spyder won't come cheap - base pricing starts at $61,200 when it arrives in February 2010.<br />

<div align="center"><em><small><strong>Click above for a high-res gallery of the W3 Triposto </strong></small></em></div>
<br />Living in Montreal, you spend most of the year indoors dreaming up what you're going to do with those few weeks of summer when the skiing is bad. Now that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/au-revoir-montreal-fia-cancels-canadian-gp-for-2009/">Grand Prix isn't around</a> anymore, Canadian gearheads are looking for other ways to get their kicks. And when a retired engineer and a racing driver are penned up together in a snowstorm, this is what you get: the W3 Triposto.<br /><br />The brainchild of Clyde and Hugh Kwok, the W3 Triposto takes a Porsche 911 and turns it into a unique speedster. Its open-air cockpit features 1+2 seating, like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/31/mclaren-f1-fetches-record-2-530-000-at-rm-london-auction/">McLaren F1</a>, wrapped in pseudo-retro bodywork reminiscent of the 1958 Porsche 718 RSK (albeit one realized in carbon-Kevlar and aluminum). The flat-six has been tuned to deliver 300 horsepower, which propels the W3 to a face-shredding claimed top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 miles-per-hour). Kwok and Son prefer working with 90's-era Carreras, but will gladly perform the conversion on any 911 for a princely $250,000, or $300k for a turn-key model. You'll just have to wait until the snow melts to take it for a spin.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/">W3 Triposto</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/w3-tripost0-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/w3-tripost0-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/w3-tripost0-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/w3-tripost0-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/w3-triposto/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/w3-tripost0-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.w3triposto.com/En/Main.html">W3 Triposto</a> via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5125214/w3-triposto-porsche-is-a-study-hall-sketch-come-to-life">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/w3-triposto-summer-days-driftin-away/">W3 Triposto: Summer Days Driftin' Away</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:58:00 EST. <br />On paper, the <a href="http://autos.aol.com/cars-compare?cur_page=details&amp;v1=USB80PRC021B0&amp;v2=USB80PRC021D0&amp;v3=USB80PRC021E0">Boxster RS 60 Spyder</a> might seem nothing more than a limited-edition Boxster with some interior upgrades, a slight horsepower bump over the S model and a name picked from the company's rich racing history. <br /><br />Let's first take a look at the car's historic name. In 1960, Porsche's mid-engined <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_718">718 RS 60</a> won both the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Hours_of_Sebring">12 Hours of Sebring</a> and the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Targa_Florio">Targa Florio</a>. Historic pictures show it as a silver car with a red leather interior, much like the 2008 Boxster RS 60 Spyder I took around Barber Motorsports this week. <br /><br />Continue reading after the jump and visit our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/">high-res gallery</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/">First Drive: Porsche Boxster RS 60</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/porsche_rs60_cjtab061208---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/porsche_rs60_cjtab061208---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/porsche_rs60_cjtab061208---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/porsche_rs60_cjtab061208---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-porsche-boxster-rs-60/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/porsche_rs60_cjtab061208---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Chris Tutor / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/first-drive-2008-porsche-rs-60-spyder/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Drive: 2008 Porsche RS 60 Spyder</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/first-drive-2008-porsche-rs-60-spyder/">First Drive: 2008 Porsche RS 60 Spyder</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Jun 2008 14:58:00 EST. <p>For the last race of the ALMS season at Laguna Seca, the P1, P2, and GT1 championships had already been wrapped up since Petit Le Mans. Still, the Audi team was out to better the Penske camp for the second race in a row after a close victory at Petit Le Mans. GT2 was the most exciting class, with the driver, team, and manufacturer championships all up for grabs. Risi Competizione came in as a heavy favorite, needing only to finish 70 percent of the race to clinch the team title.</p>
