19Plymouth Barracuda still looks great at 50

April 17, 2014 is the fiftieth anniversary of the Ford Mustang. This isn't just the year of Ford's legendary pony car, though. It also marks the fiftieth anniversary of the debut of Chrysler's entry into the pony car wars - the Plymouth Barracuda.

13Petrolicous torques about 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S

There are classic muscle cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, and then there are rare classic muscle cars – vehicles like this 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. Walk down Metro Detroit's Woodward Avenue on the third Saturday of August, and even in that sea of Americana that is the Woodward Dream Cruise, you'd be hard pressed to find many Cudas. 20Hurst Hemi Under Glass drag racers to be auctioned

Remember those mid-engine Plymouth Barracuda coupes that popped wheelies high enough to warrant under-car advertisements? The vehicle's bones will likely be shared with Alfa Romeo, which means a turbo four-cylinder may show up behind

9John Herlitz, designer of '70 Barracuda, '71 GTX, dead at 65

John Herlitz packed a lot of memorable MOPAR into his 35 years with Chrysler. He graduated from college and started with the company as a designer in 1965. In just three years, Herlitz became manager of the Plymouth Intermediate Car Studio and didn't waste much time making his mark on the lineup.
