The GT3-spec LMS racecar wasn't the only Audi R8 to grace the show floor in Essen. PPI Design brought their latest version of the Audi supercar dubbed the Razor GTR. The standard version of the Razor made its debut at the show last year, featuring an additional 40 horsepower, 19-inch wheels, custom leather interior, and a full carbon fiber aero kit. The GTR takes the R8 to yet another level, with more power, reduced weight, and improved aerodynamics.

PPI has fitted a supercharger to the 4.2L V8 which now puts out 580 horsepower and 443 lb-ft torque, good for a 3.7-second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of 206 mph. The widebody kit is constructed completely of carbon fiber and feeds cool air to the brakes and radiators, while the engine cover, also constructed of the lightweight material, includes integrated ram air inlets. The wider body also allows for wider rims and tires -- lightweight MAG11 forged wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber. Other performance upgrades include a KW coilover suspension, and larger brakes: 15-inch discs with six-piston calipers in the front, and 14-inch discs in the rear. Carbon fiber also coats the interior, alongside custom leather seats and a PPI steering wheel. Follow the jump for the PR from PPI, and be sure to indulge in the gallery below.

We loved what PPI did with the Audi R8, so we expected nothing less when they got their hands on the new Audi TT. This package for the second generation Audi coupe, dubbed the PS, features a wide range of upgrades to the body, suspension, engine and exhaust. Starting with the exterior, PPI developed new pieces with aerodynamics in mind. The new front fascia, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler all improve the air flow around the car, and carbon fiber trim pieces are also available. The 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 has been massaged to 245 bhp at 5,100 rpm and an impressive 270 lb-ft torque that is complimented by a new exhaust system with quad tailpipes. Other mods available include sport springs, PPI Formula wheels, sport steering wheel, and a big brake kit that is currently under development. While not as over-the-top as Abt's TT-R, we appreciate the PS TT's subtle OEM look, too.

German design company and Audi specialists PPI have released some new details on their aftermarket program for the Audi R8 that will make its public debut at the Essen Motor Show in December. Carbon fiber components are used throughout the entire car, including a front lip spoiler, more aggressive front air dam, side sills, rear diffuser, adjustable rear wing, and matte side blades that are all available in the lightweight material. The exterior pieces are fully functional, improving airflow around the car, feeding cool air to the brakes, and deflecting engine heat away from the car. Lightweight MAG9 wheels are composed of a carbon fiber wheel rim and magnesium spokes wrapped with pavement-gripping Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Even more carbon fiber can be found in the interior, including a handbrake, sill plates, instrument panel, and components of the steering wheel.

Power upgrades are available as well, including an optimized engine management, high flow air filter, and a stainless steel exhaust that results in an additional 40 horsepower and 26 lb-ft torque. Follow the jump for the press release from PPI to see all the details about the car.

No doubt it will still win customers with its combination of expensive looks and performance above and beyond what traditional utes offer. Still, the aftermarket loves to tinker and the Q7 is a willing canvas. The newest body kit to be offered for Audi's SUV is the PS Q7 by PPI, a German tuning company you might remember for the single-frame grilles they sell for last-gen Audis and the monster 600-hp Audi A8 Executive sedan.

The PS Q7 is adorned with aggressive cosmetic enhancements that include a new front bumper with large air intakes, four small fog lamps, and a matte carbon fiber splitter below the big Audi grille. The new bumper also reportedly reduces lift on the front axles at speed. Side sills with small exhaust vents behind the front wheels take up residence on the Q7's flanks while a new rear bumper with two cutouts for PPI's 4 pipe stainless steel exhaust dress up the rump. A tasteful rear spoiler is also located above the rear window.

PPI placed 22-inch one-piece alloy wheels at each corner, which are tucked under each fender thanks to the PPI sport module, a chip that allows the Q7's air suspension to go lower than stock. A big brake kit has also been installed to scrub off speed that the PS Q7 accumulates from its various stages of tune. The top Stage II package increases the power of Audi's 4.2-liter V8 all the way up to 600 horsepower, just like the A8 Exec express.

[Source: Fourtitude]
Continue reading Audi's SUV gets a makeover by PPI

Audi's SUV gets a makeover by PPI originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 27 Nov 2006 17:01:00 EST. The rolling stock is upgraded with 20" alloys and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport2 rubber. If you don't want the stock trim detracting from your dubs, PPI also offers a chrome delete package that replaces the trim with either carbon fiber or a matte black finish.

Aesthetics are all well and good, but it's what's under the hood that counts. Power upgrades to the stock, 4.2-liter V8 come in two flavors - naturally aspirated and blown. The NA option will produce 420 HP with a retuned ECU and exhaust upgrade. However, the real power comes when PPI straps on a twin-screw supercharger, a revised intake manifold, an air-to-air intercooler and programs a Motronic ECU to create 600 HP and 638 ft.-lbs. of torque. All those ponies can be sent through a reprogrammed transmission that will enable the 4,200-pound sedan to reach 60 MPH in 4.5 seconds.

Slowing down that considerable mass is left to 380 mm, cross-drilled rotors, matched with eight-piston calipers and an option to upgrade the discs to ceramic if your pocketbook allows. Vehicles equipped with Audi's air suspension will also receive a reprogrammed computer, which will reduce the A8's ride height by one and half inches.

We didn't compile a listing of what all this high-power, high-tech wizardry will cost, but we'd expect you could buy a brand new GTI if you decided to keep your A8 stock.

[Source: World Car Fans]
600 HP, PPI tuned Audi A8 originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 05 Oct 2006 12:25:00 EST.
