AddNissan to build EVs at its Oppama assembly plant in Japan

As Nissan gets ever closer to Job 1 for its new dedicated battery electric vehicle, the question arises: Where does it get built? That question has now been answered with the announcement that its Oppama factory near Kanagawa will be the initial source of its EVs. Production will start in the fall of 2010 with low volumes that will initially go to various commercial and government fleet customers. Over the following two years, production will be ramped up toward full retail availability in 2012.

AddNissan to get UK government help for EV production

Most of the news regarding Nissan's electric vehicle efforts of late have revolved around signing agreements with governments around the world to build out public charging infrastructure. Today, British Business Secretary Lord Mandelson is visiting Nissan's Sunderland factory to announce government aid to the plant so that it can actually, you know, build electric vehicles. A memorandum of understanding between regional authority One North East and Nissan is being signed that will see 4,000 jobs
