<br />Toyota has announced official pricing for the five (!) trim levels for the 2010 Prius, due to hit dealers in the States sometime in late May. The bare-bones version (which must be pretty bare, since Toyota hasn't divulged what's included) will be just $21,000. On the other end of the spectrum, the top trim level starts at $27,270 (add $750 to both prices for delivery), and the most you can pay for the new Prius this spring will be $32,520 for the V trim equipped with the Advanced Technology Package (ATP). Full details are available after the jump, but note that you can't get the ATP, which includes the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the Pre-Collision System, Lane Keep Assist, and Intelligent Parking Assist, if you want the solar roof option.<br /><br />As <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/04/21/toyota-to-take-on-insight-by-cutting-prius-base-price-to-21-000/">mentioned earlier</a>, the $21,000 base price is important, since it is only $1,200 more than the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/HondaInsight/">Honda Insight</a>. The current, second-generation Prius <a href="http://autos.aol.com/cars-Toyota-Prius-2009/overview">starts at $22,000</a>. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for more images of the 2010 Toyota Prius</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />An "insider" at LLN has it on good authority that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/11/toyota-seriously-considering-separate-prius-brand/">oft-rumored Prius brand</a> is, in their words, "a go." According to their source, the goal of the spin-off is to create cheaper hybrid models that would command a marginal premium over their standard, hybrid-free counterparts.<br /><br />The rumormill pot gets stirred a bit more with the claim that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/16/confirmed-this-is-the-2010-toyota-prius/">2010 Prius</a> could achieve up to 80 mpg. Combine that with the rumblings about a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/22/current-prius-rumored-to-get-price-cut-to-compete-with-insight/">Prius price cut</a> and it's starting to look like the Volt will have it's work cut out for it. Informed speculation also says that the reworked Prius may be joined by an upscale five-door Prius model in the $28-30,000 range and that Toyota could be planning a four-door "Baby Prius" expected to sell in the mid-teens, utilizing a nickel metal hydride battery pack and coming to market in 2013. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/">Confirmed: 2010 Toyota Prius</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/00_priusspyshots_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_2010_toyota_prius_realorrender_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_priusspyshots_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_2010_toyota_prius_realorrender_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rendered-or-real-2010-toyota-prius/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_priusspyshots_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.leftlanenews.com/prius-brand-a-go-for-toyota.html">LLN</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/30/prius-rumors-abound-separate-brand-80-mpg-3-different-models/">Prius rumors abound: Separate brand, 80 mpg, 3 different models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 17:59:00 EST. Five years on, it's still the most popular way to conspicuously consume under the guise of saving the planet. Toyota hasn't been resting on the success of its green badge of targeted consumerism, so we're going to see a new Prius at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in January, according to Toyota President Watanabe. The 3rd-generation Prius will grow in size, and engine displacement will be bumped to 1.8 liters to increase performance. Despite the increase in size and sprightliness, weight will reportedly hold steady. Further changes are in store after the launch, with plug-in and Li-Ion updates to come.<br /><br />The nameplate will also move beyond a single model and become a sub-brand during the reign of Prius the III. More body styles are coming, and if you think the Prius is a roachy-looking thing, the concept hints Toyota has given us are possibly even weirder. The sub-1,000 pound <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/10/tokyo-2007-preview-toyota-1-x-pronounced-1-xth/">1/X</a> might offer a glimpse at another type of Prius, though more realistically, the sad-eyed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/06/geneva-auto-show-toyota-hybrid-x-concept-is-the-uber-prius/">Hybrid X</a> vannish concept suggests the way things are headed without the ridiculous pronunciation of its featherweight companion. If things go according to Toyota's plan for world domination, the Prius will become one of the pillars upon which the marque is built, next to the Corolla and Camry institutions. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/">Review: 2007 Toyota Prius Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/07priustouring_abgar_apn_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/abgar_prius_anunez_hi21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/abgar_prius_anunez_hi32_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/abgar_prius_anunez_hi24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-toyota-prius-touring/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/abgar_prius_anunez_hi12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoobserver.com/2008/04/toyota-prius-ne.html">Auto Observer</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/29/next-gen-prius-coming-in-january-with-more-power-efficiency/">Next-gen Prius coming in January with more power, efficiency</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 11:29:00 EST. Look for their next high-efficiency space capsule to bow in 2008 with significant tweaks and tweezes. The body shape remains familiar, though in actuality it's totally changed. Width is expected to grow an inch, while length will shrink the same amount. The artist's rendering depicts a nose that looks inspired by Lamborghini, while the shape of the greenhouse and rump retain their aero-friendly profile. We can understand not making drastic changes, it's not like the Prius's look is dated. Heck, some of us <em>still</em> can't get used to it. You know what it is when you see it, though, and Toyota's hard wind-tunnel work probably doesn't leave a ton of room for form variation. <br /><br />More exciting than the sheetmetal is what's underneath. The Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder will increase in displacement from 1.5 to 1.8 liters. That should help with long climbs in the hills and other situations where the battery pack is out of the loop. Toyota's way ahead of everyone else with their Hybrid Synergy Drive's software and calibration, and they intend to stay there. Changes to the HSD system along with new battery technology are rumored to bump city mileage to 80mpg. Solar panels in the roof for passive recharging as well as plug-in options are also being considered. We're curious how Toyota intends to nearly double the city mileage number, especially in light of the new EPA guidelines coming for 2008. Series Hybrid, perhaps? I guess we'll have to wait and see; rest assured that execution will be fastidious. <br /><br />[Source: worldcarfans]<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/21/spy-shots-2008-prius/">Spy Shots: 2008 Prius</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 21 Jan 2007 12:18:00 EST.
