Beginning with the 2009 season, the new series sponsor will be Camping World, a company that already has major ties with the racing community.

The deal is good for seven years and stipulates that all NASCAR Truck races will be televised on either SPEED or FOX, which provides Camping World with an estimated $100 million worth of exposure and makes us wonder what the sponsorship deal cost the privately-held company that's based in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The first race with the new sponsorship will take place next year at the Daytona International Speedway on February 13th. See the press release after the break for more.

[Source: NASCAR]
Continue reading Camping World takes over as NASCAR Truck sponsor

Camping World takes over as NASCAR Truck sponsor originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 24 Oct 2008 07:28:00 EST. This announcement should hardly come as a shock as Dodge made the decision to run just one factory-backed racer for 2008. That lone truck was being run by Bobby Hamilton Racing and we have no details on what the team plans to do for '09. The fact that Dodge has pulled support for the NASCAR Trucks has many pondering if the beleaguered automaker will do the same for the automotive side of the racing series. According to Dodge Motorsports senior manager Mike Delahanty, there are no reasons to jump to conclusions. We'll keep our collective ears to the ground. Thanks for the tip, Hernando!

[Source: Bleacher Report / Photo: Bo Nash]
Dodge leaving NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2009 originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 17:01:00 EST.
America's two most popular spectator sports - football and stock-car racing - are about to cross paths as the New England Patriots' star wide receiver Randy Moss has announced plans to launch his own NASCAR team. Perhaps after losing Super Bowl XLII to the New York Giants back in January, Moss is really starting to think about what to do with his time after this whole football thing runs its course.

His new team named Moss Motorsports will begin competing at select races in this year's Craftsman Truck series in preparation for a full-on assault in the 2009 season at the same level. Details like drivers, sponsors and an engine supplier have yet to be announced, but Moss, who has long been involved with urban youth programs, plans to incorporate his racing team into his social projects.
