<div align="center"><em><strong><small>SMS 570X debut - Click above for a high-res gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Under the bright sunlight of the Javits Center's Crystal Palace atrium, Steve Saleen took the covers off of his latest creation, the SMS 570X. The Dodge Challenger-based muscle car registers a few rungs above the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/17/sms-570-challenger-has-a-coming-out-party/">570 that we first viewed at its Orange County unveiling</a> in January. Where that car was fitted with a 5.7-liter V8, the 570X utilizes a 6.0-liter engine, reportedly good for 700 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque - plenty of gumption to roast those wide and flat 20-inch meats. <br /><br />The engine includes lots of forged bits (pistons, crankshaft, con-rods, etc.) lurking beneath new CNC-ported aluminum heads. In addition, the 570X receives a SMST six-speed manual transmission and a high-performance cooling package. The heart of the car is a production version of the SMS 296 supercharger, the firm's new blower co-developed with Lysholm. Like Mopar muscle of yore, this system features a Six-Pack too - only in the SMS' case, it refers to a brace of cylindrical intercoolers. <br /><br />While the supercharger comes as part of the 570X package, it will also work on other Chrysler LX products including the Charger, Magnum, and Chrysler 300C. SMS also promises that "aftermarket fitments" are in the works for both Ford and General Motors products.<br /><br />Aesthetically, the X is nearly identical to the original 570, which is a good thing, because it looks sensational. From its "Red Butterfly" side-induction hood to its flared, vented fenders and new front fascia, the basic form looks spot-on. With its lowered stance, details like its GTX-style grille, fender vents, carbon-fiber splitter and side skirts, and rear spoiler, the 570X is at once classic Motown muscle and a thoroughly modern tuner car.<br /><br />As this car was just a prototype, there were some unfinished bits (off-kilter badges, hood fitment, etc.), but officials promise to get the production car right. No word yet on official pricing and availability, but well-heeled Mopar fans would do well to reach out to SMS straight away.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/">New York: SMS 570X</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-steve-saleens-sms-570x-ups-the-ante-with-700-supercha/">New York: Steve Saleen's SMS 570X ups the ante with 700 supercharged horses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 18:57:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Volkswagen Up! Concept - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Here in New York, Volkswagen CEO Stefan Jacoby said the company might be shaking things "Up" again in the States. The on-again, off-again status of the <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/17/volkswagen-up-more-details-revealed/">Up! mini-car</a> on these shores is apparently about to go on - again. While the Up! (likely to reintroduce the <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/27/vws-up-might-be-renamed-lupo-in-2011/">Lupo</a> nameplate) won't see production until 2012 at the earliest, Jacoby is hinting that it could be on sale here when it debuts: "Up! could be in the future of the market here. In urban areas like New York, a car like Up! has a good chance."<br /><br />Jacoby, among others, thinks that fuel efficiency will remain a big draw into the future, so cars like the Up! make a lot of sense for VW, returning an anticipated 50 mpg. And that's just in conventional internal-combustion engine configuration. Throw in some of VW's alternative-fuel technology, and that number could go up significantly. "We are looking at second-generation biofuels, electric cars, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and nanotechnology," Jacoby said. That doesn't mean VW thinks the end of the ICE is nigh. When the U.S. market starts to rebound at the end of 2009, Jacoby anticipates a total market of 13 million to 14 million vehicles, the vast majority ICEs.<br /><br />We've already speculated that the Up! will be produced in India, and that we'll most likely get the roomier <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/27/vws-up-might-be-renamed-lupo-in-2011/">Space Up!</a> microvan model rather than the smaller three-door hatch version. We're also hearing that the original Beetle-like rear-engine, rear-drive configuration will be swapped to <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/18/vw-up-could-be-switched-to-fwd/">front/front</a> for production. Engine options are said to range from a 600cc turbo to a 1.2-liter three-cylinder, in gas and diesel forms. Mileage could be as high as 80 miles-per-gallon. If it has any of the driving dynamics that Volkswagen is known for, we can see this being a worthy rival for the Honda Fit and Fiat 500 in the fun little econo car class.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/">VW up!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/vw_up_live_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/vw_up_live_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/vw_up_live_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/vw_up_live_1280_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-up/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/vw_up_live_1280_09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/">VW space up! blue</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20090408/ANA02/904089979/1193">Automotive News</a>, sub. req'd.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-definite-maybe-vw-up-could-be-headed-stateside/">New York: Definite Maybe - VW Up! could be headed Stateside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 13:20:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>2010 Subaru Outback - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Yesterday, Subaru unveiled its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2010-subaru-legacy-all-grown-up/">Legacy sedan</a>, a vehicle that is pivotal not just in its own right, but because it also forms the basis for the softroader stiltswagon seen here. It only makes sense that Subaru chose to unveil its new Outback here this morning, as the very first model debuted here in the Big Apple some 15 years ago.<br /><br />Predictably, the all-wheel drive Outback's running gear remains pure Legacy, and as such, it has grown similarly. Interior volume is up eight percent thanks in part to a 2.8-inch longer wheelbase (which also adds nearly four inches of rear legroom) and a two-inch wider footprint. Despite these gains, Subie officials claim the 2010 model is actually shorter overall. It also rides a bit higher, with ground clearnce swelling to 8.7 inches. Not only is this growth part of a strategy to combat upsized family sedans from Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet and Mazda, the move also allows the Outback to distance itself from popular Forester that also got biggie-sized with its last redesign.<br /><br />The new model will be available in the buyer's choice of a 2.5-liter, normally aspirated flat-four giving 170 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque (backed by one of two new transmissions: a six-speed manual or Subie's "Lineartronic" CVT) or a 3.6-liter flat-six (256 hp and 247 pound-feet) paired to a conventional five-speed automatic. Regardless of which engine is specified, the fuel tank grows to 18.5 gallons (from 16.9), and regular fuel is all that's required.<br /><br />Follow the jump for more, including Subaru's official press release, and check out the new Outback in our high-res gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/">New York: 2010 Subaru Outback</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/000_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/002_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/003_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/004_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/005_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/">2010 Subaru Outback</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0000a_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0000b_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0001_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0005_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0006_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2010-subaru-outback-has-its-muklucks-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: 2010 Subaru Outback has its muklucks on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2010-subaru-outback-has-its-muklucks-on/">New York: 2010 Subaru Outback has its muklucks on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 11:30:00 EST. <br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-must-serve-two-masters/">First thing this morning at 12:01 am</a>, we gave you a deep dive into the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and earlier we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-first-live-shots/">sneaked a few snapshots</a> while the truck lazed about before its press conference. Now, we've just returned from Chrysler's press conference to bring you live shots of a polished silver example that climbed the stairs up to the stage here in New York's Javits Center.<br /><br />Shown here in this color live for the first time, we found that silver serves the Grand Cherokee's newfound contours and angles to very good effect - particularly the muscular door panels. This was also the first glimpse we had of the GC's new air suspension doing its thing, as it easily clambered up the stage steps at full off-road height (11.1-inches), before sinking to its lowest setting, where it looked for all the world like an impromptu low and mean SRT8 version.<br /><br />We also managed to be among the first inside the vehicle to bring you a few exclusive snapshots of the model's rich new orange-brown leather treatment. Click on the high-res gallery below to see the frame-by-frame climb and the interior for yourself.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/">New York: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2011-jeep-gc-stairs_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2011-jeep-gc-stairs_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2011-jeep-gc-stairs_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2011-jeep-gc-stairs_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-live-reveal-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2011-jeep-gc-stairs_07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Chris Paukert / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-muscled-up-2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-will-take-the-stai/">New York: Muscled-up 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will take the stairs, thank you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 13:56:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Next-gen Chrysler 300C interior - Click above to enlarge</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />During the Jeep Grand Cherokee press conference this morning, Chrysler vice chairman Jim Press gave the assembled journalists a sneak peak at the interior of the forthcoming Chrysler 300. While little more than a quick glimpse at of the instrument panel flashed up on the screen for a moment, we were able to grab this snapshot for you. We're sorry that the resolution is not as crisp as we'd like it to be, but until Auburn Hills slips us a high-res jpeg, we figure you'd still enjoy an advanced look.<br /><br />What it shows is an all-new instrument panel of what looks to be a higher-end model (note the abundance of woodgrain trim and leather surfaces), with the centerpiece being a new widescreen navigation system housed in an oval-shaped enclosure flanked by curved air vents. As expected, there is a wood and chrome-ringed steering wheel, switchgear in the standard places (including dual-zone climate control), a gated console shifter, and what looks to be a very large center console.<br /><br />The interior is markedly more conservative than what Chrysler teased with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/11/detroit-2009-chrysler-200c-concept-what-the-sebring-should-hav/">200C Concept</a> from January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but admittedly, that concept was designed to give a future glimpse of the 300's kid brother, the Sebring). The 200C employed such show car details as a chrome single-spoke steering wheel, a screen in place of the main gauge binnacle, and a sophisticated all-in-one climate/stereo/nav unit that flowed out of a center console.<br /><br />Despite that, the 300 "spy shot" looks to be a major leap forward in terms of unified style and potentially materials. <br /><br />No definitive word yet on a date when the rest of the car will be revealed, so for now, 300 fans, you'll have to be content with this.<br /><br /><em><strong><small>Photo Copyright (C)2009 Chris Paukert / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-chrysler-gives-a-sneak-peak-at-the-next-300-interior/">New York: Chrysler gives a sneak peak at next 300 interior</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 11:28:00 EST. <br />The first stop for a few of us Autobloggers who just arrived in Manhattan was at the local Ferrari and Maserati dealer where the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-ferrari-599xx-is-our-kind-of-menace-to-society/">599XX racecar that was introduced in Geneva</a> was making its North American debut. <br /><br />It looks just as mean and aggressive as it did at on the stand at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, and it makes the standard 599 GTB Fiorano look downright ordinary and tame in comparison. The big coupe's bodywork has been reworked with plenty of carbon fiber aerodynamic bits and the interior features a full race cockpit complete with lightweight Alcantara seats and a full roll cage, a marked change from the standard car's leather-lined grand tourer accommodations. Under the hood? A 700 horsepower V12 that revs to eardrum-bursting 9000 rpm.<br /><br />The 599XX will serve as a testbed for new technologies much like the Ferrari FXX, and those who wish to sample its charms will have to qualify for the exclusive Corse Clienti program that is not only costly (over one million Euros), but limited to select Ferrari clientele. Last year, the program came to the United States twice, but there is no word yet on whether we'll see the 599XX on track here any time soon.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/">New York 2009: Ferrari 599XX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/599xxny_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/599xxny_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/599xxny_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/599xxny_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-ferrari-599xx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/599xxny_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc</small></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/new-york-ferrari-599xx-arrives-stateside/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: Ferrari 599XX arrives Stateside</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/new-york-ferrari-599xx-arrives-stateside/">New York: Ferrari 599XX arrives Stateside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 23:05:00 EST. <br />While Land Rover's sales have been flagging like almost every other automaker in this economy, it has been the company's venerable Range Rover SUV that has held down the fort, maintaining its share better than any other product in the British automaker's empire. This is a particularly impressive feat, as the Range Rover is the longest-serving model in the company's off-road arsenal to go without a major update. Until now.<br /><br />Not that you can tell from the outside terribly easily, mind. The outgoing model is something of a style icon, so you could forgive LR stylists for not wanting to futz unnecessarily with the styling. Still, changes are substantial yet modest - there are new headlamps, a new grille, a refreshed bumper cap, relocated fog lamps, and a triple theme to the sides and rear of the vehicle that includes three-section fender vents, 'three-stripe' LED side indicators, and new LED taillamps that incorporate the same 'three-stripe' motif.<br /><br />Inside, the changes are more dramatic, punctuated by a new virtual gauge cluster that utilizes a 12-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) screen in place of traditional analog needle instruments - Current Mercedes S-Class owners enjoy a similar setup. Other interior adjustments include a raft of new switchgear, a revamped steering wheel with new multi-directional thumbpads, a new leather headliner and a much-needed upgrade to the navigation system. The new GPS system is hard-drive based touchscreen setup that also includes enhanced USB connectivity and a dedicated iPod port. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/new-york-preview-2010-land-rover-range-rover-is-awash-in-new-po/">Click on the jump</a> for more of this writeup and a detailed press release.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/">2010 Range Rover</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/01-2010-range-rover-press_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/02-2010-range-rover-press_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/03-2010-range-rover-press_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/04-2010-range-rover-press_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ranger-rover/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/05-2010-range-rover-press_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/new-york-preview-2010-land-rover-range-rover-is-awash-in-new-po/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York Preview: 2010 Land Rover Range Rover is awash in new power and tech</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/new-york-preview-2010-land-rover-range-rover-is-awash-in-new-po/">New York Preview: 2010 Land Rover Range Rover is awash in new power and tech</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 21:00:00 EST. <br />Before this auto show season is over, we'll probably see another Ford Mustang variant unveiled. That's the juicy takeaway from a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/DetroitAutoShow/">Detroit Auto Show</a> conversation we had with Ford's vice-president of Powertrain Engineering, <a href="http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=17258">Barb Samardzich</a>. In the course of discussing the 2010 GT500 and the new Mustang in general, this author made the offhand remark that, after sitting in the 2010, perhaps picking up a used '06 GT just over a year ago was a bit premature. In response, Samardzich gave a knowing look and said, "You want to wait a <em>little </em>longer." That was all we were able to get, but given her position, it seemed noteworthy. After all, she'd know. <br /><br />We followed up with Ford spokesman Alan Hall after the show in a bid to extract more information. Alan saw this as a fun opportunity to obfuscate, joking that the Blue Oval is readying a Knight Rider edition. (They're not. Relax.) More importantly, however, he didn't <em>deny </em>anything either. <br /><br />So now we'll take the rumorball and kick off the speculation. We wouldn't expect anything in Chicago. Traditionally, the Windy City isn't a big Mustang show, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/spy-shots-2010-ford-taurus-sho-spotted-without-camo/">Taurus SHO</a> seems likely to be the big news there anyway. That leaves New York, which has been a solid Mustang venue in recent years. In 2005, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/03/23/new-york-auto-show-mustang-shelby-cobra-gt500/">Shelby GT500</a> was revealed. In 2006, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/16/new-york-auto-show-2007-shelby-hertz-gt350h-intro-and-high-res/">Shelby GT-H</a> made its debut there. In 2007, we got the production <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/04/new-york-auto-show-carroll-shelby-crowns-shelby-gt500kr-king-o/">Shelby GT500KR</a>. Last year, no Mustang announcement in Manhattan, so Ford's due. <br /><br />History would suggest that we'll see another Shelby model in New York, but that's really just a shot in the dark. It could really be anything. Boss? Bullitt? Mach 1? EcoBoost?! You could go on forever with the guessing. Obviously, we could also be wrong, and it could be nothing, but something tells us Ford has a treat up its sleeve...<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> And Mike Levine at PickupTrucks.com pretty much lays it out: <strong><a href="http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/01/sources-say-coyote-and-ecoboost-engines-on-horizon-for-f150.html">5.0</a></strong>, shared with F-150.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/">Detroit 2009: 2010 Shelby GT500 Live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/001_gt500detroit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/002_gt500detroit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/003_gt500detroit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/004_gt500detroit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-2010-shelby-gt500-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/005_gt500detroit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/rumormill-another-mustang-variant-coming-this-show-season/">Rumormill: Another Mustang variant coming this show season?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 19:01:00 EST. That means I'm the guy who actually thinks, "That is awesome," when he reads the (Google translated) announcement of yet another Suzuki Wagon R <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/23/custom-style-mazda-az-wagon-arrives-in-japan/">variant</a>. Hell, I did <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/07/the-ultimate-kei-mitsubishi-i-hello-kitty-princess-kitty-edit/">two</a></em> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/27/mitsubishi-i-hello-kitty-edition-in-the-metal/">posts</a> on the one-off Hello Kitty Mitsubishi i. Keis are cool. So, you can imagine how happy I was to see that Mitsubishi brought along a small fleet of its i minicars to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> this year. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/714667/"><img width="250" vspace="4" hspace="4" height="188" border="1" align="right" alt="Foreground: i MiEV, Background: i Turbo" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lvlo_15_250.jpg" /></a>Mitsubishi's focus at the show was squarely on the the all-electric i MiEV, which goes on sale in Japan next year and will be tested in North America this fall. The gasoline-powered version was on hand, too, though. I drove the i MiEV for <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a>, and was a passenger in a black i Turbo. <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/03/21/new-york-2008-autobloggreen-drives-the-mitsubishi-i-miev-w-vid/">Head over to AutoblogGreen</a> for driving impressions of the i MiEV, and note that many of the observations there apply to both the electric and gasoline-powered cars. <br /><br />The i Turbo you see here is powered by a 660cc 3-cylinder that delivers around 64 horsepower. It's got around half the torque of the electric i MiEV and it's buzzier-sounding (obviously), but it felt just as well-suited to city driving in New York as its battery-powered counterpart. It can comfortably transport four adults and a bit of cargo, too. Try doing that in a smart.<br /><br />Mitsubishi is monitoring public reaction to the cars this week, so if you go to the show and like what you see, make sure to let them know. Me? I'll happily take one in black -- <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/10/mitsubishi-i-by-damd/">with a DAMD kit</a> for optimum not-exactly-badassedness.<br /><br />Head to AutoblogGreen for a full <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/03/21/new-york-2008-autobloggreen-drives-the-mitsubishi-i-miev-w-vid/">i MiEV review and video</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/">Mitsubishi i Turbo - Live in NY</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/i_turbo_nyias_lv01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/i_turbo_nyias_lv03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/i_turbo_nyias_lv06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/i_turbo_nyias_lv04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-turbo-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/i_turbo_nyias_lv07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/">Mitsubishi i MiEV - Live in NY</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lv24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lv03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lv08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lv17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-i-miev-live-in-ny/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/imiev_nyias_lv15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">All photos Copyright (C) 2008 Alex N&uacute;&ntilde;ez / Weblogs, Inc. </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/22/new-york-2008-the-mitsubishi-i-is-a-okei/">New York 2008: The Mitsubishi i is A-OKei</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 22 Mar 2008 13:10:00 EST. Busting on the arrowhead's former taste for cladding and Iron Dukes in the "excitement" product line, Lutz confidently strode alongside a silver 2009 Solstice GXP Coupe as it rolled out amidst fanfare provided by the Young Lords. Strobe lights flashed, music blared - it was like catching the last act of Kimmel, complete with Pontiac Garage signage. The Solstice Coupe replaces the world's flimsiest soft-top setup with a composite targa panel. 50-Cent also made an appearance and touted the performance of the GXP-trim Solstice, saying "It's faster than a Porsche Boxster. For $30,000... pick this one, not that one," while pointing at the Porsche display. The look of the Solstice Coupe is definitely zoomy - think of a C3 Corvette left in the dryer too long and you get the idea. Inside, the feeling is perhaps slightly less claustrphobic, but the general low-budget interior continues, though the GXP on the stand was wearing leather on the seats. The price of entry will still be a bargain when you look at the style it buys (official pricing hasn't been announced) - and the Coupe may even have enough trunk for an overnight bag. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/">2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe - Live Reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/00_solsticecoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_solsticecoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_solstice_coupe_live25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_solsticecoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-pontiac-solstice-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_solstice_coupe_live25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/19/new-york-2008-pontiac-solstice-coupe-live-reveal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York 2008: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe live reveal [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/19/new-york-2008-pontiac-solstice-coupe-live-reveal/">New York 2008: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe live reveal [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 12:46:00 EST. Ford knows this, and later this morning in the Jacob Javits Center, it will unveil a new taxi concept that's about as different from the Vic as you can get. The Ford Transit Connect Taxi that was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/13/spy-shots-transit-taxi-coming-to-new-york-auto-show/">spied last week</a> combines spaciousness and utility with improved fuel economy and reduced emissions thanks to the 2.0-liter four it packs underhood (no hybrid, though, which would be really big in cities like New York). The yellow exterior is offset with matte grey accents, including the combo fascia/bumpers fore and aft. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/707036/"><img width="250" vspace="4" hspace="4" height="360" border="1" align="right" alt="Ford Transit Connect Taxi" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transitconnecttaxi_offvlo_03.jpg" /></a>Passengers ride in an airy cabin that feels even more so in the concept thanks to a vista roof that looks nice but would probably never make the cut on a real fleet vehicle. Ford and Microsoft's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-introduces-work-solutions-in-dash-computer-pa/">Work Solutions</a> package powers the system feeding content to the 13-inch display facing the backseat passengers. In addition to acting as the meter and electronic payment interface, the display also supplies "infotainment" info, live traffic and weather, and GPS functionality. Folks who still pay their fares with wallet cabbage can send their greenbacks forward through the concept's fancy little orb in the rear partition (Ford calls it "Sputnik"). <br /><br />As good as the Crown Victoria taxi is, its days are numbered as cities move to green up their taxi fleets. If the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-transit-connect-arrives-in-the-state/">Transit Connect</a> can handle the amount of punishment the Vic regularly endures, it's a pretty compelling package. Not only is it more roomy and efficient than the Vic, it could probably be made readily accessible for disabled riders, too. Ford is intent on showing a variety of uses for its new Euro-sourced work van, and this seems like a good one.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/">Ford transit Connect Taxi Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transittaxi_6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transittaxi_10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transittaxi_11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transittaxi_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-transit-connect-taxi-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/transittaxi_13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/19/new-york-08-preview-ford-transit-connect-taxi-son-of-crown-v/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York '08 Preview: Ford Transit Connect Taxi - Son of Crown Vic</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/19/new-york-08-preview-ford-transit-connect-taxi-son-of-crown-v/">New York '08 Preview: Ford Transit Connect Taxi - Son of Crown Vic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 00:02:00 EST. The resurgent Performance Division will flex its muscles at the Javits Center. Joining the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-p-o-n-t-ianda-c-gpontiac8-sport-truck/698573/">2010 G8 sport truck</a> (and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/07/new-york-08-preview-pontiac-solstice-targa-may-appear/">maybe another newcomer</a> sporting the Arrowhead badge) is the highly-anticipated Pontiac G8 GXP. <br /><br />The new Poncho flagship wears subtle visual tweaks including updated front and rear fascias plus the same 19" HSV wheels that were shown on the G8 concept. More importantly, the GXP packs GM's 6.2L LS3 V8 underhood. In this application (it's also in the Vette, where it makes even more power), the small-block punches out 402 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque rearward via a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox or a HydraMatic 6L80 auto. (Add another 2 pound-feet of twist if you opt for the latter.) A fully-adjustable suspension helps keep the muscle sedan planted to the tarmac, and stopping power comes from the gang at Brembo. Look for an upgraded interior with glitzier trim and well-bolstered leather sport seats. A Pontiac stand littered with V8s? It's sure been a while. Welcome back to the party, guys. Let the wanton tire destruction begin!<br /><br />We'll have plenty of live shots for you from the floor on Wednesday.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-pon-hellothere-tiac-g8-gxp/low/">2008 Pontiac G8 GXP</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-pon-hellothere-tiac-g8-gxp/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/pontiac-g8-gxp-1280-001a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-pon-hellothere-tiac-g8-gxp/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/pontiac-g8-gxp-1280-003a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-pon-hellothere-tiac-g8-gxp/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/09_pontiac_g8gxp_reda_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: GM]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/15/new-york-08-preview-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp-packs-402-hp-and-a/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York '08 Preview: 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP packs 402 HP... and a third pedal!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/15/new-york-08-preview-2009-pontiac-g8-gxp-packs-402-hp-and-a/">New York '08 Preview: 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP packs 402 HP... and a third pedal!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 15 Mar 2008 00:00:00 EST. The new car, which made its world debut <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/18/2008-honda-fit-bows-in-japan/">last October</a> at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/25/tokyo-motor-show-2008-honda-fit-gets-civic-minded-makeover/">Tokyo Motor Show</a>, gets a pod-like, Priusy makeover that gives it interior space equal to that of a midsizer. While the Japanese version is available with 1.3L and 1.5L engines, we'd assume that the 1.5 i-VTEC will be the sole engine in the US. In Japanese trim, it's good for 118 horsepower (120 PS) -- a 9-horse bump over what the engine in the current car delivers. Even with that extra juice, the Japan-spec 1.5L Fit can achieve fuel economy of 46 mpg (19.6 km/l). Not shabby. We'll be on hand in NYC to bring you all the official details on the US-market car after the new Fit is driven onstage. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/">2008 Honda Fit (JDM)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/am0710063_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/am0710064_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/am0710065_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/am0710066_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-fit-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/am0710067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Honda]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/22/2009-honda-fit-is-a-go-for-new-york/">2009 Honda Fit is a go for New York</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 22 Feb 2008 10:29:00 EST. Simple - take a 1996 Crown Vic (arguably better looking than Ford's current take on the Panther platform), put a lift on it that shames many custom pickups, and shove a set of Pirelli-shod 30" MHT wheels under it. Not included is the milkcrate you'll need to stand on in order to enter the beast. <br /> <br /> Now, we realize that this probably isn't a proper "donk" to most folks (and those that specifically associate the name with mid-70s Caprices are particularly likely to be offended by using the name to describe a Crown Vic), but this thing seems to defy any other name - well, at least any name that's suitable to print. No word yet on whether it'll be whisking us away from the Javits convention center tomorrow night, but such a scenario isn't out of the question - the nine-foot-tall ride is said to wear an official NYC taxi medallion. <br /><br />[Source: RIDES, Jalopnik]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/04/new-york-auto-show-its-donktacular-rides-does-up-a-taxi-skys/">New York Auto Show: It's donktacular! Unique 18-inch wheels and a chrome exhaust tip round out exterior additions, while red stitching on black captain's chairs and a flow through center console with a floor shifter round out the package. <br /><br />Unfortunately Ford didn't answer Eric's question about whether the 5.4L V8 will be mandatory or optional. <br /><br />Ford only released two pics of the vehicle, although Eric managed to snap nine at the NYIAS including shots of the interior and the back of the vehicle.<br /><br />Check 'em all out after the jump along with Ford's official press release.<br /><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/05/13/f-150-fx2-sport-finally-acknowledged-by-ford/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>F-150 FX2 Sport finally acknowledged by Ford</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/05/13/f-150-fx2-sport-finally-acknowledged-by-ford/">F-150 FX2 Sport finally acknowledged by Ford</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 13 May 2006 09:03:00 EST. <p>To commemorate the release of its <a
href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/12/new-york-auto-show-bentley-drops-top-on-continental-gtc/">Continental GTS
luxury drop-top</a>, Bentley rolled out several examples of&nbsp;old and new&nbsp;hardware, putting them on display in
the lobby of the Javits Convention Center. We grabbed some shots, and are happy to share them with you. Feel free to
use the Comments sections to take a shot at identifying each of them.</p>
