The standard Mosler MT900S is a supercar by anyone's standards. It's got a sleek body made of carbon fiber, a 7.0-liter V8 with 550 horsepower, and can hit 60 mph in just over three seconds. But for one of Mosler's customers it just wasn't enough. The owner of this MT900S enlisted the help of Nelson Racing Engines in Chatsworth, CA to build the ultimate motor for his supercar: a twin-turbo 427ci V8 producing up to 1800 horsepower on race fuel and around 1100 horsepower using 91 octane. To help make the car more streetable, boost can be controlled every 100 rpm in each gear. The first few gears are limited to around 6-8 psi, while higher gears can take full boost -- over 30 psi! We recently got the chance to see the car in person at the NRE facility where they were doing final testing on the engine. The dyno run we witnessed netted nearly 1600 horsepower before the intake collapsed from the pressure. We were told that the car should be completely finished in the next couple weeks and that we could come back for a ride. We'll be sure to take them up on the offer!

From the quirky-looking Consulier to the much slicker current car, Mosler has never had to make any excuses for his vehicles' performance or advanced construction techniques. They've always been fast, and they've always been on the cutting edge of build science. This new alphabet-soup Mosler is only available to European buyers, and is essentially a roadgoing version of the MT900 R racer, with the XX suffix designating 20 years of production. The GTR XX is undergoing testing at Florida's Homestead Raceway to dial in the suspension and dynamic tuning of the carbon-fiber-constructed, LS7-powered, scorchingly fast supercar. Once the adjustable coil-overs and swaybars are dialled in, lucky Europeans will be able to put an MT900 GTR XX in their garages. Mosler fans in the United States will only be able to drool as they gaze across the Atlantic with really powerful binoculars.

Gallery: Mosler MT900 GTR XX

[Source: World Car Fans]
Mosler turns 20, celebrates with MT900 GTR XX for Europe originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 12 Jun 2008 12:59:00 EST.
While wondering the halls of the LA convention center we happened upon this Mosler MT900S with an... interesting paint scheme. It's even got color-matched carbon fiber Dymag wheels and yellow brake calipers to go with the Big Bird interior. While it may look like it just dropped out of a bag of Skittles, this Mosler has an LS7 V8 on board with 550 horsepower and 490 lb-ft torque for a 0-60 mph time of three seconds flat. We'll take ours in Darth Vader black like the one George Lucas got, thank you very much.

We don't know any prominent filmmakers in Anaheim, but we do know of a large theme park whose founder also dabbled in films. And it WOULD be fun to take this for a spin around the park after hours. Drown out the It's a Small World kids with that rippin' Corvette V-8. Who needs a Fast Pass when you have the keys to a Mosler? But we digress. This is notable because it is the first street-legal production version of the MT 900, with all previous vehicles configured for competition.

The MT 900S is the 435 horsepower, mid-engined supercar that weighs about a hundred pounds less than a Civic. It can do 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds on its charge to a top speed somewhere well past the double century mark. Handling is racecar-like, which is understandable in this racecar for the road. It's also the first production vehicle to be factory-equipped with carbon fiber wheels. We'll keep an eye out for it around Orange County and try to bum a ride so we can give you a first-hand account of how it really feels inside.

[Source: Leftlane News]
First street-legal Mosler MT900S delivered to notable filmmaker originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 17 Nov 2006 08:54:00 EST.
