<br />
It's been two years since Mitsubishi took the wraps off its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-mitsubishi-concept-cx/">Concept-cX crossover</a> at the 2007 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, but before we see the production version at next year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, Mitsubishi has released a teaser sketch of its all-new compact CUV.<br />
<br />
Aimed at competing with segment stalwarts like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/HondaCRV/">Honda CR-V</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ToyotaRAV4/">Toyota RAV4</a>, the Compact Crossover will be built atop Mitsubishi's new mid-size global architecture with power likely provided by a 1.8-liter turbodiesel channeling around 140 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque through Mitsubishi's Twin-Clutch SST gearbox and all-wheel drive system.<br />
<br />
Sales will begin in Japan this February, and we'd expect a petrol-powered version to be released in the States later in 2010. Full details available in the press release below the fold.<br />

The design was well received and will slot right beneath the Outlander in size and price. Equipped with a new 1.8-liter, Euro 5-compliant Clean Diesel four-cylinder turbo engine, the cute 'ute will be the new flag-bearer for Mitsu's green efforts. Borrowing the twin-clutch SST transmission and all-wheel-drive platform from the latest Evo aims to put the 'sport' back in the Sport Utility Vehicle.<br /><br />While the new SUV and Mitsubishi's line of Clean Diesel engines is a lock for the European market, we are still waiting for an announcement regarding what other markets the cX will be headed to and what other engine options will be available.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/">Mitsubishi Concept-cX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/03_cx2_iaa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/05_cx2_iaa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/06_cx2_iaa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/02_cx2_iaa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-cx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/04_cx2_iaa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carcentral.com.au/200807102070/suvs/mitsubishi-to-build-compact-crossover-based-on-concept-cx.html">Car Central</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/mitsubishi-will-build-concept-cx-suv/">Mitsubishi will build Concept-cX SUV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 10 Jul 2008 19:02:00 EST. The crossover vehicle is Euro 5 emissions-compliant, powered by a 1.8L clean diesel engine that features a variable-geometry turbocharger, a diesel oxidation catalyst, and a diesel particulate filter. <br /><br />The economical powerplant is mated to Mitsubishi's twin-clutch transmission, and its interior will make use ofenvironmentally-friendly Green Plastic. The 13-foot-long CUV also uses an electronic 4WD system and incorporates an SUV-style high seating position. No cargo capacity numbers have been given yet, but Mitsubishi did say that a split tailgate is used at the rear of the vehicle. The "photo" looks like it <em>could</em> be a rendering, but it shows a slightly less aggressive vehicle than the sketches. We'll keep you posted as more information on this Concept-cX becomes available and add live shots of it from next month's Frankfurt show.<br /><br />[Source: CarScoop]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/28/frankfurt-preview-mitsubishi-concept-cx-leaked/">Frankfurt Preview: Mitsubishi Concept-cX leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 13:08:00 EST.
