We slid behind the wheel of the 2009 Infiniti M35 S last week in Napa, California. It was a quick jaunt, but we wanted to try out the newly revised powerplant under the hood. Yes, even thought the nomenclature remains the same, the Japanese automaker has swapped out the mass of aluminum up front for something a bit more updated and powerful. Find out how the 2009 Infiniti M35 S did after the jump.

The M45x features Infiniti's 325-hp 4.5L V8 paired to the company's ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system. Previously buyers could only get AWD if they bought the entry-level M35x powered by the 275-hp 3.5L VQ V6. The M45x will start at $51,850, making it the most expensive M model, while the regular rear-wheel-drive M45 begins at $49,350 and the M35/M35x start at $43,050 and $44,800, respectively.

Also of note is that the M Sport models are gone, replaced by a Sport Package that can apparently be had on either the M35 or M45. The Sport Package includes unique exterior and interior tweaks, Rear Active Steer and 19-inch wheels. Also, the M35's Journey Package including climate-controlled seats and Xenon headlamps is now standard equipment. There are a host of other minor improvements that have been made to the M about which you can read in Infiniti's press release after the jump. Also check out the subtle visual changes made to the M in our high-res gallery below.

[Source: Infiniti]

Continue reading Infiniti prices 2008 M and new AWD M45x

Infiniti prices 2008 M and new AWD M45x originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 15:29:00 EST.
Better visual differentiation between Sport Package and standard models

Sport Package gets unique bumpers, side sills, dark headlight housings and 19" wheels

Rain sensing wipers

New paint colors

All-wheel-drive V8 power with addition of M45x

Infiniti has announced that an updated M sedan will join the EX35 crossover at the swanky weekend car porn festival in Monterey. The M is said to receive "extensive exterior and interior enhancements" and a V8 all-wheel-drive M45x will join the lineup for '08. Infiniti also states that the previous M Sport models will be replaced by an optional Sport Package (19" wheels, Rear Active Steer, visual tweaks, etc). Check back Saturday, when we should have full details and photos from Infiniti.

UPDATE: All the official info and pics are now posted here.

[Source: Infiniti]
Updated 2008 Infiniti M heads to Pebble, M45x AWD version to debut originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 Aug 2007 16:26:00 EST.
