The shop figured out it was Ms. Lohan's ride when a customer compared the license plate that was still on the car to one seen in a video about the starlet's DUI crash. They indeed matched and the shop then realized it was sitting on a potential gold mine. After all, if people will pay thousands for Britney's unwashed left sock, surely Lindsay's personal Doom's Day machine would fetch a few more dollars than a standard SL65 AMG. And so the eBay listing for the car went up and was plastered with LiLo's image and tales of debauchery to which the car was a witness.

Apparently, eBay frowns upon profiting from the mishaps of young hollywood (or else a team lawyers had some words with eBay). The auction apparently ended prematurely, but don't fret - the car is back up for sale on eBay Motors, this time without any mention of Lohan and her exploits. Instead, the only clue as to this car's previous owner is the description "previously owned by high profile celebrity". We wanted to let you know just so that no one out there thought this Merc was previously owned by Britney, Paris or any other celebrity that buys inappropriately high-powered cars.

Thanks for the tip, alex!

[Source: eBay Motors]
eBay UPDATE: Auto shop not allowed to profit from LiLo's DUI originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 12 Nov 2007 17:34:00 EST. According to celebrity site TMZ.com, Britney Spears just picked up a shiny new white SL65. That means once again a young accident prone distracted driver gets a twin-turbo monster (hooray!) with which to aim at unsuspecting bystanders. Wherever will she fit the baby seats? Surely an SL350 would have suited Ms. Spears for her frequent Starbucks runs, but why should anyone think with reason? Now we'll just wait for it to show up on eBay after getting repaired from impacting a stationary object (or human being). You never know, someone might be able to get a sweet deal on this car second-hand. Just watch out for the Frappuccio stains.

Why else would a reckless young woman in need of a transportation appliance choose a twin-turbo 6.0L V12 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG over, say, the perfectly reasonable SL500? They are both convertibles after all, and isn't that all that matters? Regardless, it made for more interesting news when she stuffed the 604-hp beast into a tree. When we last saw Miss Lohan's personal vehicle, she had abandoned it on the side of Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Apparently the front end has been repaired by a shop in Texas, and they have it up for sale on eBay. Confirmation that the car belonged to LiLo came via comparing the car's license plate to the one on the car captured in papparazi photos, not to mention the parking slip from the Chateau Marmont Hotel.

Now what do you do? Service specialists from Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep provide the following tips on how bestnot to look stupid in front of the paparazzi:

Don't leave the vehicle. Yes, you want to whackthe idiot driving a BMW 7-Series who scratched your Maserati Quattroporte, but let the police (and lawyers) handleit.

Carry a disposable camera to take pictures of the damage (as well as any cute policeofficers).

Call a towing service. Preferably, have a number ready in your cell phone, PDA orpoorly secured T-Mobile Sidekick.

Call your insurance company immediately. There is areason why you're paying them $2000 a quarter.

Get estimates on the damage from severalrepair facilities.

All kidding aside, the specialists provide more details of all the above steps at thelink. What tips would you offer?

[Source: CarJunky]
Some helpful tips for those in a car accident... originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 23 Mar 2006 19:00:00 EST.
