German tuning house <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hamann">Hamann</a> isn't known for producing boring vehicles, and its latest projected, dubbed the Victory II, is a prime example. Based off the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4</a>, the Victory II features a completely new look thanks to all new body panels, functional roof inlet, rear wing and 20-inch Hamann wheels. Inside, the car gets new carbon fiber sport seats and custom upholstery.<br />
<br />
With the LP560-4 already producing 552 bhp and 398 lb-ft torque, Hamann decided to do only minor modifications to the 5.2L V10. New engine programming results in 20 more horsepower and an additional 26 lb-ft, resulting in a new top speed of 204 mph.<br />

While everyone and their mother seems to have made <em>Top Gear USA</em> bashing the new national pastime, you might want to take a look at the newest video tease it's just released. While the appeal of the BBC show undoubtedly revolves around the chemistry between its three mismatched hosts, at its core, it's a show about cars. So even if we're not certain the three American hosts can live up to the legacy established by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, perhaps they really don't need to.<br />
<br />
<em>Top Gear USA</em> isn't a replacement for the BBC show after all - it's more of a spin-off. And as long as the production values stay high - and from the looks of it, they have - it's just more car pr0n for all of us. Case in point: the video you'll see <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/01/video-top-gear-usa-runs-with-the-bulls/#continued">after the jump</a>. The storyline is fairly straightforward: Round up the baddest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/lamborghini/">Lamborghinis</a> from the corral - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Superleggera</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Balboni</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/murcielago">SuperVeloce</a> - and open them up so we can see what they'll do. Can there possibly be a loser? Hold on to your butts, <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/lamborghini">Lamborghini</a> fans. Word from <em>Car and Driver's</em> German correspondent is that the bullish Italian automaker is strongly considering re-entering the hardcore SUV segment. Considering that the brand's last effort into such uncharted territory brought us the <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/hummer">Hummer</a>-esque <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/lamborghinilm002">LM002</a>, you can officially color us intrigued.<br />
<br />
If the machine does make it past the planning stages, it will reportedly be based on the platform shared by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen/touareg">Volkswagen Touareg</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne">Porsche Cayenne</a>, but we imagine it would get a powertrain more suitable for Lamborghini use - we can only hope that means a V12, as was the case with the LM002.<br />
<br />
Another market Lamborghini is said to be considering is the entry-level V8 supercar segment. If a production model does indeed come about, it would slot below the V10-powered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Gallardo</a>. As with the aforementioned SUV, this would not be the first time Lambo has dipped a toe in these waters, as its <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urraco">Urraco</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_Silhouette">Silhouette</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_Jalpa">Jalpa</a> played in the exact same market in the 1970s and 1980s before the Italian manufacturer pulled out in favor of traditional range-topping supercars like the Diablo and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/murcielago">Murcielago</a>.<br />

Sadly, rumor has it that Lamborghini will not pursue the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/lamborghiniestoque">Estoque</a> concept, leaving the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/maserati/quattroporte">Maserati Quattroporte</a> as the only Italian to do battle with the likes of the <a href="http://autoblog.com/porsche/panamera">Porsche Panamera</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/aston+martin/rapide">Aston Martin Rapide</a>. Still, the company must at least be considering the Estoque since it went ahead and produced a concept to gauge reaction. Italophiles, take note: <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/lamborghini">Lamborghini</a> has announced it's built the 10,000th <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Gallardo</a>. Naturally, the supercar manufacturer is pleased with this performance, pointing out that the now ubiquitous Gallardo is officially the most successful model Lamborghini has ever created. Says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.:<br />

According to the <a href="http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/murcielago-gallardo/34259-gallardo-lp570-4-sv-coming.html">Lamborghini lovers at the Teamspeed Forums</a>, there's a new, even higher-performance version of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/19/first-drive-2009-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4/">Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4</a> on the way to the 2010 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>. No surprise, really, as the Gallardo's successor isn't expected until 2012 or so, and Lambo is always working on improving the breed.<br />
<br />
We're told to expect a 10-horsepower bump up to 570 ponies, which will then be distributed to all four wheels (making this the LP570-4, naturally). A stripped-down interior (<em>a la</em> the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/27/lamborghini-ceases-production-of-gallardo-superleggera/">Gallardo Superlegerra</a>), an updated aero package including a new front spoiler and a large carbon fiber rear wing, a reworked front suspension arrangement, and carbon ceramic brakes may also be in the works.<br />
<br />
Looking past the possible LP570-4, an LP590-2 swan song for the current Gallardo range could be in the offing for 2011. Assuming it'd follow in the footsteps of the the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/first-drive-kinda-2010-lamborghini-gallardo-lp550-2-valentino/">Gallardo L550-2 Valentino Balboni</a>, that the theoretical LP590-2 would eschew all-wheel drive and go old-school, sending all 590 horsepower <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/rumormill-lamborghini-working-on-two-rear-wheel-drive-cars-for/">to the rear wheels</a>.<br />
<br />
If these rumors prove accurate, dealers and VIP customers ought to get a sneak peek of the Gallardo LP570-4 in January, prior  to the car's official debut in Geneva. Sales are apparently pegged for May of 2010. <em>Thanks for the tip, DJ!</em><br />

Fate is a funny thing. It was our destiny to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/first-drive-kinda-2010-lamborghini-gallardo-lp550-2-valentino/">get a ride with Valentino Balboni in a Lamborghini LP550-2 Valentino Balboni</a> during rush hour traffic in Los Angeles. Lucky? Absolutely, though we may have crested 50 mph once... maybe. Would we have preferred to have been in the passenger seat of this here limeade green Valentino Balboni as Lamborghini's legendary test driver literally hoons the rear tires off the car? Dear God, <em>yes!!</em> <br />

The following video is actually a pretty good demonstration of the difference between RWD and AWD vehicles. You'll see the Mr. Balboni flinging the LP550-2 around a corner, the rear sliding out a touch before he applies just a dab of oppo' to get the V10-powered, rear-wheel drive mini-monster back in line. This is followed by an AWD LP560-4 which simply can't break traction and sort of gracelessly shunts and shutters its way around the corner. Faster, no doubt -- but not nearly as fun to watch. And then there are sparks and smoke and trust us you'll love this. While not quite as in your <strike>groin</strike> face as Samuel L. Jackson's <em>Snakes on a Plane</em>, the following video is as honest in its title to content ratio. Yes, a camera crew in a helicopter follows two <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/lamborghini+gallardo/">Lamborghini Gallardos</a> (one hardtop and one <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/gallardo+spyder/">Spyder</a>) up and down Pacific Coast Highway and through some of the Southland's best canyon roads. Nearly perfect, right?<br />
<br />
Well, there's an issue or two. First is the thumping, blasting "butt-rock" soundtrack. Second, that soundtrack is annoying and obscures the glorious fury of the Gallardo's 5.2-liter V10 -- a motor that can make a four-year-old to burst into tears when cranked from a cold start (true story -- we saw it happen in person). Truly, a beast of an engine.<br />

Had it been our video then, we would've killed the royalty-free-Nickelback soundtrack and instead stuck mics on the Lambos as if they were pincushions. Then we'd have tailed the two blue bulls to Kanan Dume Road. Why Kanan? Tunnels -- three of them. Not to get all David E. Davis on you, but you really haven't lived until you've heard Lambo's V10 at 8,250 rpm in a confined space. Glorious. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/24/italian-state-police-receive-new-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4/">Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia</a> is a very capable police cruiser that just happens to also be an extremely desirable Italian exotic. How many police cruisers can go 200 mph while toting a vital organ in its specially made refrigerated storage? While Lambo and the Italian State Police thought of all kinds of neat amenities to make the LP560-4 the perfect cruiser, they neglected to install an idiot detection device and now they're paying the ultimate price.<br />
<br />
One of two Gallardo LP560-4 Polizias is ready for the scrap heap after a careless Seat Ibiza driver pulled out of a gas station without first looking for $200,000 police car. The undoubtedly surprised driver of the Gallardo swerved to avoid the oblivious one and smashed into a row of parked cars. The wedge-like Gallardo hit the cars so hard that one vehicle actually ended up on top (see above) of the ultimate Pig-mobile, crushing the front end. Luckily, the police officer and his passenger were unhurt in the incident. Ironically, the police issue Gallardo was on its way home from a safe driving seminar when the accident occurred.<br />
<br />
What a bummer. The cop driving the car was one of 20 officers specially trained to handle the Gallardo's awesome V10 power. Now that the world's neatest police cruiser is scrap-worthy, he'll likely have to go back to driving a Fiat. <em>Thanks for the tips, everyone!!<br />

<br />To some casual observers, Ferrari and Lamborghini may seem like peas in a pod: exotic Italian supercars with aggressive styling and superlative performance capabilities. But how they arrive at that point is far from similar. While Ferraris are bred from racing technology, Lamborghini, for the most part, doesn't compete in motor sports. For that, they've got Reiter Engineering. The German motorsport garage has decades of experience turning Lamborghini's road cars into racing cars, and not with an immodest level of success. Especially in the GT3 racing class, where Reiter-prepped Lambos have taken titles and continue to lead championships around the world. The latest Reiter GT3 car is now emerging from the development phase and the order books are open.<br /><br />Based on the Gallardo LP560-4, the Reiter LP560 GT3 is a lightweight road-course rocket. The 5.2-liter V10 has been revised to GT3 specifications, while lightweight aluminum chassis components draped in carbon fiber bodywork keeps weight down to just 2,624 pounds. Downforce has been optimized, shift times have been halved and weight distribution has been balanced. But one of the most intriguing elements of the LP560's design is that it can be easily upgraded to compete in the higher level GT2 class, giving privateer teams a wider variety of titles to contest. Reiter will sell your team a turn-key GT3-spec model for 265,000 euros (about $375k), and upgrade it to GT2 spec for another 30,000 euros ($43k). <br />We love us some supercar photos, and Lamborghini just made our day by releasing a plethora of new images of the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder. Introduced <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4-spyder-unveiled-live/">late last year at the L.A. Auto Show</a>, the new Gallardo drop-top received a host of upgrades compared to its predecessor, including a new folding top, LED taillights, and, of course, the new 552 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 also found in its coupe sibling. <br />A new supercar is a cause good enough on its own; all the more so when the car in question is being auctioned off to raise funds for charity. In this case, the very first U.S.-bound Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder to roll off the assembly line in Sant'Agata Bolognese was auctioned off this past weekend to the highest bidder at the 16th Annual Race to Erase MS event in LA.<br /><br />This particular Lambo Spyder was prepared especially for the charity event, in black with orange accents in the organization's colors. The winning bid of $270,000 (a good $50k or so over list) was placed together by Kymberly Gold of True Religion Jeans and music producer Victor Newman, who will apparently be sharing the two-seat roadster when it arrives at the beginning of U.S. delivery next month. Proceeds from the auction - part of the $2 million raised at this year's event - go to the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis, and the funds will be earmarked for MS research and public awareness campaigns. </small> <br />Forget about the latest LP560-4 or the limited-production Superleggera that preceded it: what you're looking at here is the ultimate Gallardo. Only it's not made by Lamborghini. Unlike its arch-rivals in Maranello, Lamborghini doesn't make racing cars. For that, it turns over its supercars to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/10/05/gallardo-gt3-racer-will-be-built-but-not-by-lambo/">Reiter Engineering</a>, the German garage that fields <em>renn</em>-ready Raging Bulls in European sportscar championships, and has also turned out <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/reiter-engineering-offers-street-legal-version-of-murcielago-r-g/">a few variants</a> for <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/26/one-more-for-the-road-reiter-engineering-builds-gallardo-gt3-fo/">the street</a>, too. The firm has just released its latest effort, a competition spec Gallardo for the GT2 class in the European Le Mans Series.<br /><br />Based on the Gallardo LP560-4, Reiter has done away with the all-wheel-drive and gone with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/rumormill-lamborghini-working-on-two-rear-wheel-drive-cars-for/">rear-wheel traction</a> only for its Racing Bull. To meet GT2 regulations, Reiter will have had to actually reduce the engine's output from the stock 560hp to below the 500hp mark, and possibly added some ballast to fine-tune the weight balance and meet the 1125kg minimum heft requirement for the series. Instead of starting the season in Barcelona with the rest of the field, Reiter has opted to perform some additional testing before hitting the track at Spa on May 10. It's aggressive, attractive and an absolute hoot to drive. It's also the <em>Robb Report</em> Car of the Year, beating out a dozen other luxury automobiles ranging from track stars like the Nissan GT-R and Corvette ZR1 to the quirky little SMART fortwo. The LP560-4 is the 16th winner of the award, given to the best and brightest of the luxury field by editors who know a thing or two about the good life. Testing took place in California's Napa Valley, where Robb Report staffers joined 50 guest judges to put the 13 vehicles through their paces. <br /><br />The Gallardo won the award based on its supercar looks, fit and finish, and a four-wheel-drive system that makes the LP560-4 just as capable in the twisties as it is in a straight line. While the LP560-4 didn't change much aesthetically for 2009, Lamborghini made significant changes beneath the Gallardo's skin. <br /><br /><em>Robb Report</em> Editor-in-Chief Brett Anderson summed up why the Gallardo came home with the hardware: "No past iterations of the Gallardo have delivered the combination of power and precision you get from this engine and four-wheel-drive system." The supercars that roll out of the factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese already tread the narrow line between the sexy and the obscene, but the bulk of the mod-jobs we've seen run over that line with considerable ferocity and just keep on accelerating. German tuning house IMSA's take on the latest Gallardo LP560-4 is, by comparison, a breath of fresh air.<br /><br />As you can see, exterior modifications have been kept tastefully restrained. A new front apron, fender flairs, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear wing are all crafted out of carbon fiber. IMSA has also fitted a custom adjustable suspension, split-spoke alloys hiding eight-piston brake calipers up front and six-pot grippers out back, while under the rear glass, IMSA has squeezed an extra 40 ponies out of the Gallardo's 560-horsepower 5.2-liter V10, giving the GTV a revised output of 600. <p>When we got word that Lamborghini was bringing a new model to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/LAAutoShow/">LA Auto Show</a>, it wasn't hard to guess what it would be: the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder. Sun-loving Californians would all drive convertibles if they could, making Los Angeles an ideal venue for the debut, and Lamborghini has a habit of following up its coupe models with a drop top version. Our hunch was confirmed earlier this morning when pictures flooded the internet, and we know have live shots from the show floor, along with more details on the car. The new folding top runs via a hydraulic pump as well as electric motor that can close and raise the top in around 20 seconds. The headlights have been slightly updated with new LEDs and daytime running lights. As with the coupe version, the Spyder features the new 5.2L V10 producing 552 bhp and 398 lb-ft torque, and the suspension and e-gear transmission upgrades carry over as well. With the reduced weight and added power, the Spyder now reaches 100 km/h in four seconds flat and tops out at a touch over 200 mph. <br />It's generally never a good idea to try and outrun the the local constabulary, but that would be particularly true if you happen to be in Italy within the jurisdiction of Prefect Antonio Manganelli. Manganelli heads up the Italian State Police and he just took delivery of the latest police package special from the crew at Lamborghini. This time around the Bolognese automaker added the decals and lights to its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/19/first-drive-2009-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4/">Gallardo LP560-4</a>. Somehow the Lamborghini techs have managed to integrate all the gear that modern police officers regularly use into their diminutive supercar. The car is equipped with a video recording system so officers can record evidence and provide entertainment for the boys in blue back at the station by transmitting it wirelessly in real time. The usual array of gun racks and radio equipment is also supplemented by a cooler in the front compartment that can be used to transport separated body parts to the local emergency room, or that finger you just shot off a "potential" suspect. The Rome police have been using a Gallardo cruiser for the last five years and accumulated 87,000 apparently problem-free miles while the Bologna police have racked up 62,000 miles in another example. <p>A 5.2-liter V10 with 560 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, a top speed of over 200 mph and one of the most beautiful modern designs to ever come out of Italy. It's the new Gallardo LP560-4, and Lamborghini wants us to drive it. There are certainly more lucrative ways to make a living than being an automotive journalist, but it's moments like this that we know we made the right career choice. The best news is that we got to drive the new LP560-4 with about two dozen Lamborghini owners. Lamborghini of Orange County recently opened up a new dealership in Newport Beach, and they invited all of their customers down to see the new showroom and go for a Sunday drive. <p>What you see here is living, fire-breathing proof that there is life after automotive journalism. Jeremie Paret recently left his position as Editor in Chief of Modify magazine to start his own supercar tuning outfit. This customized Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is his first creation.</p>
<p>It takes a special kind of tuner to have the chutzpah to tinker with an Italian thoroughbred like the LP560-4, and there are only a handful of aftermarket outfits that are up to the task. Paret sets himself apart by offering a completely customized experience, with each vehicle designed by his team according to the specifications of the customer. This Gallardo has been fitted with Asanti Diamond wheels hiding pink brake calipers, plus a host of carbon fiber bits from the side skirts and door handles to the Reventon-style front end and enlarged rear diffuser. The interior has been decked out in custom leather and Alcantara trim and an Alpine/Focal info-tainment system. </p>
<p>Paret's crew will arrange for any customer's vehicle to be transported to France where they'll set up the car, or can ship the parts to the customer for local installation. Both sales and profits are up at Lamborghini, with most of the increases coming from emerging markets, including the Middle East, China and Hong Kong. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann believes that the key to its recent sales successes is its policy of producing fewer vehicles than it believes it can sell, thereby keeping demand high.
