For the first time, the Internet Car and Truck of the year organization presented Mazda and Chevrolet with a number of well-earned awards at the Chicago Auto Show. Mazda won with its freshly updated 2010 Mazda3 in the car category, beating out such worthy candidates as the Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Shelby GT500.

However, the big winner was Chevrolet, with the Equinox taking home prizes for two separate categories - Internet Truck of the Year and Consumer Internet Truck of the Year - while the Camaro snagged the Consumer Internet Car of the Year. Our particular favorite award, though, was for the Internet Automotive Journalist of the Year.

Why? Well, it was won by none other than our very own and highly esteemed Editor-in-Chief, John Neff. For those keeping track, Neff has won the award every single year that it's been presented. Nicely done, John.

The SEMA show is a labor of love in that it takes a lot of hard work to cover it properly, but there are few places on earth we'd rather be. While we often spend 10-12 hours on the show floor looking for the best (and worst) vehicles to post on Autoblog, sometimes we also get the chance to have a little fun.

Across from the press room was a hidden cove with two plasma monitors attached to a pair of XBOX 360s. Continental Tire was hosting an XBOX Challenge, and Forza Motorsport 2 was the chosen battlefield. Our own John Neff typically spends his free time enjoying his console of choice, and Forza 2 is often his disc of choice. Our Editor in Chief jumped at the chance to compete for such prizes as an iPod and a set of high-end Kicker speakers, and we were there to tape the results. For those who missed the announcement, yours truly appeared on the weekly Detroit insider TV show, Autoline Detroit with John McElroy, this past Sunday. The show aired in the early morning yesterday, so if you missed it or your TiVo's on the fritz, we've got it right here for you (it's after the jump). The topic of the show was "The New Journalism", i.e. blogging, and how it's affected the automotive industry. The panel included myself, Scott Burgess from The Detroit News and Ed Garsten from Chrysler LLC. Yes, you can all finally see what I look like, but disregard the impending double chin that's forming as a result of blogging's sedentary lifestyle.
