Jeremy Clarkson has created a new two-disc video titled The Italian Job, where the Top Gear host goes it alone with some of the best supercars money can buy. The video will feature Jezza hooning around Imola and Fiorano in typical shouty, animated fashion - and with good reason. He's got a range of dream cars at his disposal, including a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Pagani Zonda R, an off-roading Lamborghini Gallardo and a V-8 Ariel Atom (nevermind that it isn't Italian). Actually, the preview alone contains more vehicles than we care to list. There's even a helicopter to capture the action.

The goal of Clarkson's adventure is to prep the TG host for his first-ever Classic Touring Car Race in England against 20 experienced drivers. And while the two-disc DVD (or Blu-ray) doesn't go on sale until November 15, we've got a 4:36 preview with just about everything we could ask for. Hit the jump to see it for yourself, and try not to get too excited. November 15 is, after all, over a month away. Hot tip, Nick!
Gary Gray assembled an all-star cast including Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Jason Statham and Donald Sutherland to recreate the Michael Caine classic The Italian Job. And though the remake bore little resemblance to the original, the one part which the modern pretenders made sure to include was a recreation of the famous Mini police chase scene. Leave it to the Brits, though, to reclaim their national treasure, as new reports indicate that the BBC's hit car show Top Gear is planning a reenactment of their own.

Both the 1969 original and the 2003 remake featured scenes where the protagonists evade police pursuit in the sewers hauling millions of dollars worth of gold bars. The original was set in Turin but shot in Coventry (whose sewer system was then under construction) while the remake was set in Los Angeles, but Top Gear is gearing up to shoot in Belfast. Okay, you figure, Top Gear has set up lots of off-the-wall races already, right? This segment was actually pitched to the TG crew by the local water company, eager to promote the £100m new works project that has been under way since 2005 to replace the Victorian-era plumbing system in the Northern Ireland. Thanks for the tip, Sam... this ought to be good.

[Source: BBC | Image: Steve Finn/Getty]
Top Gear to recreate the Italian Job Mini sewer chase scene in Belfast? originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 16:31:00 EST.
The envelope, please ...

Best:

1981 DeLorean DMC-12, "Back to the Future"

1961 Ferrari 250 GT, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (for completists, that's a 250 GT California Spyder SWB, guys)

1974 Dodge Monaco, "The Blues Brothers"

1964 Aston Martin DB5, "Goldfinger"

Batmobile Tumbler, "Batman Begins"

1968 Ford Mustang GT 390, "Bullitt"

1959 Cadillac Ambulance, "Ghostbusters"

1958 Plymouth Fury, "Christine"

1973 Ford Falcon, "The Road Warrior" (pictured)

2003 Mini Cooper S, "The Italian Job"

Technical details, unique features and an explanation as to how they ranked the vehicles are at the link. Apparently, we've got more love for the Griswold's metallic pea-soup Wagonqueen Family Truckster than the folks at Cars.com. C'mon... where's your sense of humor, guys?

[Source: Cars.com]

Hollywood's best and worst movie cars... take one! originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 03 Jun 2006 19:08:00 EST.
