A reader by the name of Steve did just so and was rewarded with some pictures of Hyundai's latest and greatest models. Why, you may wonder, was the Korean automaker testing these vehicles? They were likely undergoing high elevation testing, as they were snapped on Mount Evans in Colorado. The <a title="Mount Evans Scenic Byway" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Evans_Scenic_Byway">Mount Evans Scenic Byway</a>, leading to the summit overlook, is the highest paved road in North America (thanks, Wikipedia!). <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/993971/"><img hspace="4" vspace="4" border="0" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/yellow_genesis_coupe_small.jpg" alt="" /></a>There's plenty to see here. We've all seen the Genesis Coupe before, but not in yellow, and it looks good. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/993969/">The Portico</a> doesn't really get the blood boiling, but it could turn into an important Edge\Traverse fighter for the Koreans. Perhaps the most interesting car here is <strike>what appears to be a heavily disguised <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/993968/">Equus sedan</a>. Being that its covered head-to-toe, we had to look closely to spot the rear fender bulge which seems to identify the car.</strike> Update: As our readers have pointed out in the comments, this appears to be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/05/spy-shots-azera-based-kia-luxury-sedan-spotted/">the new Kia based on the Hyundai Azera</a>. Thanks! <em>Thanks, Steve!<br /></em><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/low/">Reader spied Hyundais</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/equus_2_spy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/portico_one_spy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/portico_two_spy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reader-spied-hyundais/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/yellow_genesis_spy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/23/hyundais-caught-testing-in-high-elevations/">Hyundais caught testing in high elevations</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 23 Aug 2008 12:27:00 EST. Still, Hyundai is set to throw its hat into the ring with the upcoming Portico, which is based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/02/09/hyundai-portico-concept/">concept vehicle from 2005</a> with the same name. To its credit, the Portico does manage to have a few new features that its competition doesn't. Seating for up to six is standard, though there are only two rows. Each row is a long bench, with the center spot on each row also able to fold down, allowing the option of converting the Portico into the world's largest and least efficient four-seater. Expect to find one of Hyundai's V6 engines underhood with a hybrid option rumored to follow. As a minivan replacement, the Portico could find a few buyers, but the Korean automaker had better find a way to squeeze every mile out of each drop of gasoline, otherwise the Portico will take residence right next to the ill-timed Kia Borrego on dealers' lots across the country.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/200808140808/FREE/378453151">AutoWeek</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/14/spy-shots-hyundais-pacifica-like-portico-crossover/">Spy Shots: Hyundai's Pacifica-like Portico crossover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 18:57:00 EST. While the shindig was designed to let journos drive some of the automaker's newest models like the updated Tiburon, a Hyundai executive confirmed to the gathered scribes that the automaker is busy working on a production version of its <a href="http://chicago-auto-show.autoblog.com/2005/02/09/hyundai-portico-concept/">2005 Portico concept</a>. In concept guise, the <strike>minivan</strike> crossover featured a hybrid powertrain, incorporating a V6 gasoline engine supplemented by electric motors powering the front and rear wheels. It also sported large clamshell doors. We doubt we'll see either feature make it to production. They'd make a heckuva splash if they dropped this puppy into the marketplace as a hybrid, though.<br /><br />The Portico will be one of five new vehicles Hyundai will bring to market by 2010 as it further solidifies its US lineup. Hopefully, that's it with the crossovers/CUVs, though. Between this, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/10/hyundai-veracuz-pics-leak-onto-web/">Veracruz</a>, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/08/2007-hyundai-santa-fe-official-pics-and-specs/">Santa Fe</a>, they've got that segment pretty much covered, along with the Entourage to grab the remaining minivan people. Let's see some compelling new cars that continue to move the chains downfield in terms of style and quality.<br /><br />[Source: Winding Road]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/25/hyundai-confirms-plans-for-portico-crossover-and-four-new-models/">Hyundai confirms plans for Portico crossover and four new models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 25 Oct 2006 13:58:00 EST.
