<br />
Can a Hummer be green? The brand that most obviously represents American excess in the minds of environmentalists - though Hummer's vehicles aren't <em>actually</em> worse than any other large SUV - has seemingly been fighting off its negative stigma since shortly after the introduction of the larger-than-life H2. Part of the brand's hopeful transformation includes <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2007/12/11/all-hummers-to-be-biofuel-capable-by-2010/">giving each model a flex-fuel variant</a>, and the latest application of that principle is seen on the 2010 H3 and H3T.<br />
<br />
Interestingly, the engine that gets the E85 capability is the largest and most powerful option: the 5.3-liter V8 as fitted to the top-level Alpha series - not the slightly more fuel efficient inline-five. In any case, anyone who ticks the V8 box on the options list will be blessed with 300 horsepower, 320 lb-ft of torque and the ability to pump ethanol into the tank if he or she should so desire.<br />
<br />
Not green enough for you? Baby steps, people... Hummer CEO James Taylor (no, not <em>that</em> <a href="http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu7SfW_RKZzsBJZdXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzYWFoYWpoBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2FjMgR2dGlkA00wMDFfMTMz/SIG=11fn8jfdq/EXP=1257614623/**http%3a//www.jamestaylor.com/">James Taylor</a>) promises bigger eco steps in the near future, saying, "This is just the first step in Hummer's evolution to offer responsible, yet highly capable all-terrain vehicles. Future models will be lighter, more efficient and will continue to offer the best blend of off-road capability and on-road performance."<br />
<br />
In related news, the 2010 Hummer H3 and H3T will be offered with three new premium exterior colors for 2010: Red Rock Metallic, Silver Stone Metallic, and Canyon Metallic. Huh, no green? Each of the three new hues can be seen in our photo gallery below, and you can view the official press release after the jump. Enjoy!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Hummer Robby Gordon Off-Road - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
We almost skipped the Hummer section of the General Motors booth this year at SEMA, concentrating instead on the plethora of Chevrolet Camaro concepts all around them. When we went back for a second look at the day's new design for the Graphics Camaro, we saw the truck above and figured we should probably reconsider avoiding HUMMER after all. We took some pics and scrounged up the press release which you'll find <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/05/sema-2009-hummer-quartet-is-a-pretty-sweet-swansong/">after the jump</a>.<br />
<br />
There were four different Hummers on display. The one shown above is a Robby Gordon Off-Road race truck that is absolutely ridiculous -- in a good way. This H3 was built to campaign in the 2010 Dakar Rally and is a full-blown, tube-chassis race truck, just like the Trophy Trucks you'll see running in the Baja 1000.<br />
<br />
Next up was the Rod Hall Racing H3 Alpha. This is a stock-class desert runner that ran the 2009 SCORE International Baja 1000., meaning that it features a stock frame, stock suspension design and production-based engine.<br />
<br />
The other two trucks were Hummer concepts. First up was the H3 Moab. Said to be inspired by trails like Steel Bender, Moab Rim, and Poison Spyder, it's a 300-horsepower, V8-powered H3 Alpha with dual locking differentials, a Rancho four-inch front suspension lift, custom rear spring-over conversion, and 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires mounted on custom 17-inch two-piece Monster Black Competition Beadlock Raceline Wheels by Allied.<br />
<br />
Last but not least is the H3T Sportsman. It's been customized with a combination of powertrain modifications, suspension enhancements and an assortment of genuine factory accessories and aftermarket components. The standard Alpha 5.3-liter V8 has been boosted by a healthy 70 horsepower. Suspension upgrades include Light Racing JounceShocks and two-inch-diameter Rod Hall Racing piggyback reservoir-type performance shocks.<br />
<br />
Altogether a pretty nifty quartet of Hummers that we'll probably never own. Check out the gallery and all the details <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/05/sema-2009-hummer-quartet-is-a-pretty-sweet-swansong/">after the jump</a>.<br />

<div align="center"><em><strong><small>Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited vs. Hummer H3T - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Last year, we compared the dirtside manners of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/autoblog-comparo-moving-mountains-toyota-landcruiser-vs-humm/">Hummer H2 and Toyota Land Cruiser</a>. Both trucks did everything we asked of them, but at the end of the excursion we were left with another question begging to be answered: could the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/HummerH3T/">Hummer H3T</a> stand up to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/JeepWranglerUnlimitedRubicon/">Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon</a>? These cruiserweights live on a fatter part of the buying curve, and any time a Jeep is summoned to the ring, the other vehicle is inevitably the challenger. Even though the H3T is still relatively new to the world, it came time to find out if it was ready to stand up and fight for its place. Follow the jump to see how it held up.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/">Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon vs. Hummer H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummervsrubicon000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummervsrubicon001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummervsrubicon002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummervsrubicon003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummervsrubicon004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Jonathon Ramsey / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/autoblog-comparo-jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Autoblog Comparo: Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon vs. Hummer H3T</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/autoblog-comparo-jeep-wrangler-unlimited-rubicon-vs-hummer-h3t/">Autoblog Comparo: Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon vs. Hummer H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 11:55:00 EST. <div align="center"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>2009 HUMMER H3T - Click above for a high-res gallery</small></span><br /></div>
<br />General Motors is recalling 1,798 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a> models so that dealers may install a new-design fuel tank front strap support. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some of the HUMMER H3T models have a condition that may result in the fuel tank front support fracturing. When the front support breaks, the fuel tank only remains supported by the tank's rear support and the stone shield. If left unattended in this position, the rear strap and stone shield may eventually fail, causing the fuel tank to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Who else would send Hummer's junior-level H3T against Nissan's heavyweight GT-R, and why? "I want to go bash around in the boonies with a jacked-up truck before somebody decides that that sort of thing is really so much fun that it should be illegal" is the perfect answer to that question. If vehicles weren't in some way about fun, we'd all be lining up for coveted used Trabants. The challenge was thus: run one vehicle on the road from Telluride to Lake City, while another hits the trail, Duke-Boys style. Both vehicles can be painted with anti-green when one considers their respective purposes. The GT-R is for chewing up miles and passing everything short of determined Porsche drivers, while the Hummer doesn't enjoy the free pass enviros give a Wrangler, but is a capable alternative to the Jeep when things heads off road. Hit the link to see whether an as-the-crow-flies route bests turbocharged brute force. Here's one thing we'll play spoiler on: the Hummer used less fuel. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.automobilemag.com/features/great_drives/0901_2009_hummer_h3t_alpha_vs_nissan_gtr/index.html">Automobile</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/16/ezra-dyer-pits-the-nissan-gt-r-versus-the-hummer-h3t/">Ezra Dyer pits the Nissan GT-R versus... the Hummer H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 16 Dec 2008 12:01:00 EST. Four Wheeler magazine put the marque's newest brute, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/08/first-drive-hummer-h3t/">H3T Alpha</a>, up against the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/12/detroit-2008-2009-dodge-ram-breaks-through-the-gate/">Dodge Ram</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/17/first-drive-2009-ford-f-150-capability-matters/">Ford F-150</a>, and... um... the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/23/first-drive-2009-suzuki-equator/">Suzuki Equator</a> (bet you didn't see that one coming), and the V8-powered HUMMER truck took home the medal. <br /><br />The trials lasted a week and involved traveling 1,000 miles over various terrain from sea level to more than a mile high. According to Four Wheeler, "Not only was the HUMMER highly competent and the staff favorite on the trail, it also has the added pluses of on-road comfort, distinctive looks and a usable pickup bed." While we wouldn't mind seeing the H3T earn the top spot against a wider field and stiffer competition, regardless of year, it's good to see it rewarded for its monumental capability.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Four Wheeler]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/09/hummer-h3t-declared-pickup-truck-of-the-year-by-four-wheeler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HUMMER H3T declared Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/09/hummer-h3t-declared-pickup-truck-of-the-year-by-four-wheeler/">HUMMER H3T declared Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 16:58:00 EST. <br /> The 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha arrived in the Autobog Garage on Election Day, and so it was my transportation to and from the local polling station to exercise my civic duty. I had the HUMMER in my thoughts when I went to cast my ballot, and looking at the paper before me was like seeing the fate of General Motors reflected in this year's presidential election. <br /> <br /> Barack Obama was new, different and promised an uncharted path to better times, the physical manifestation for this country of what the Chevy Volt is to GM. John McCain was both fiery and familiar, a well-liked veteran returning once again with a vision for America that was the same but better, just like the new Camaro. If Obama is to the Volt as McCain is to the Camaro, then that would make our current president the HUMMER H3T. It's the lame duck truck.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><span style="font-weight: bold;"><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 John Neff / Weblogs, Inc.</small></span></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 18 Nov 2008 11:58:00 EST. Trucks which had been flying out of showrooms just a few short years ago are now languishing on dealer lots. What's more, the entire HUMMER brand could <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/03/breaking-gm-to-close-4-truck-plants-may-sell-or-close-hummer/">get the axe</a> any day now from (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/06/report-tata-and-mahindra-interested-in-hummer/">current</a>) parent company General Motors. Still, the H3T is coming to a dealer near you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/11/hummer-h3t-starting-at-31-495-sales-begin-september/">in September</a>, and there's nothing that the General can do but price it competitively and hope for the best. We've got some detailed pricing information pasted after the break, but the short version is that the five-cylinder base model, which comes standard with a five-speed stick, will go for $31,495 and be equipped with the expected four-wheel drive along with 32-inch tires and a clothe interior. Upscale Alpha models get upgraded with the 5.3L V8 hooked to a four-speed automatic, a chrome appearance package and a Monsoon stereo for $36,760.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.pickuptrucks.com/index.html">PickupTrucks.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/more-pricing-details-on-the-hummer-h3t/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>More pricing details on the HUMMER H3T</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/more-pricing-details-on-the-hummer-h3t/">More pricing details on the HUMMER H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:34:00 EST. Pricing starts at $31,495, including a $745 destination charge -- $850 less than a comparable H3.<br /><br />For that kind of cash, you get a five-foot-long bed covered with an integrated liner and built-in storage system, full-time electronically controlled four-wheel-drive, 32-inch tires, functional skid plates and the five-year/100,000-mile warranty. The base model will pack the 3.7-liter five-cylinder, but a 5.3-liter V8 will be available, along with Bluetooth integration and an upgraded OnStar system. GM hasn't released details on what that kind of kit will set you back, but you can hit up your local dealer to find out when the H3T goes on sale in September.<br /><br />Hit the jump for HUMMER's press release and check out our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">previous post on the H3T</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/11/hummer-h3t-starting-at-31-495-sales-begin-september/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HUMMER H3T starting at $31,495, sales begin September</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/11/hummer-h3t-starting-at-31-495-sales-begin-september/">HUMMER H3T starting at $31,495, sales begin September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 16:58:00 EST. Dealers with HUMMER franchises have a lot of skin in the game, so the uncertain future is bound to give business officers ulcers. Not willing to wait around to the bitter end, Milwaukee's Bergstrom HUMMER is planning to move into the same space as the group's Chevrolet store. The HUMMER-specific Quonset hut style dealership building will be toned down and pressed into service as an outlet for Certified used GM vehicles. Other HUMMER dealers across the nation are staring down the same conundrum, being on the hook for that big, rugged showroom, test track, inventory, and staff, while the parent company looks to clamp off bleeders. Some might follow Bergstrom's lead and shove the big trucks into a corner of a showroom dominated by a more stable brand, while others are shipping inventory as fast as they can. <br /><br />Moving product is a tremendous challenge when the bobbleheads on the nightly news continue shrilly about the price of fuel and you've got a lot full of low-mpg, high weight trucks that happen to be a favorite target of vandals euphemistically masquerading as "activists." Customers that do make it through the door are looking for deals, and HUMMER will spot you five thousand bucks to take an H3, PLEASE. Existing customers are looking to get out of their vehicles any way possible, even if it means a financial hit. The mass exodus isn't solely due to hysteria, when it costs over $100 to fill the fuel tank, it chafes to watch the fuel gauge's precipitously quick drop toward "E." Retail issues aside, HUMMER still offers capable vehicles with a high level of style. If you've got a boat to pull, and want to look like the Governator, an H2 could still be just the thing, and now you'll be able to find one for a song; most likely the blues. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=127535">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/22/hedging-its-bets-hummer-dealer-anticipates-doom-pre-emptively/">Hedging its bets - HUMMER dealer anticipates doom, pre-emptively downsizes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 13:33:00 EST. While the rest of the crowd at GM's press conference had their focus set on the unveiling of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-chevy-unveils-2009-traverse-w-video/">2009 Chevy Traverse</a>, the 2009 HUMMER H3T sat in the corner, all but ignored by camera-toting journos. We, however, know a good thing when we see it (though many of you might disagree). And considering how the H3T is sporting an elongated wheelbase and a five-foot long bed, it remains one of a few significant unveilings here in Chi-town.<br /><br />Just as a refresher, the H3T gets power from either the anemic 3.7-liter five-cylinder mill we've come to know and loathe or a 5.3-liter V8 when equipped in the top-level Alpha trim. Towing capacity is 5,900 pounds, which should be plenty for a family of four with dirt bikes in tow.<br /><br />Check out our high-res gallery of live and press shots below and head on over to our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">original post</a> for all the details on the new HUMMER H3T.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/">2008 Chicago: 2009 HUMMER H3T live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-hummer-h3t-makes-unceremonious-debut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: HUMMER H3T makes unceremonious debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-hummer-h3t-makes-unceremonious-debut/">Chicago 2008: HUMMER H3T makes unceremonious debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 15:15:00 EST. After a few days in the High Sierras putting pre-production versions through boulder-strewn paces, the words from HMR magazine are: it's good!<br /><br />Once past the marketing-speak -- like "With its unique size and HUMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder" -- the H3T with the Adventure Package put in a proper HUMMER showing: the 5-foot bed hasn't killed the truck's departure angle, the length hasn't ruined its agility, and it even got in the obligatory Jeep smackdown encounter. The H3T also has 160 official aftermarket partners creating a glutton's range of branded accessories.<br /><br />The public will find out if it's really the lion's roar when it shows up on dealer lots in September. Until then, click the link to get the full review, and Autoblog will bring up the up-close and personal from its debut at next week's Chicago Auto Show.<br /><br />[Source: PickupTruck.com]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/03/hmr-magazine-drives-the-hummer-h3t-mule/">HMR magazine drives the HUMMER H3T mule</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 03 Feb 2008 14:29:00 EST. Talented motorcycle sketch artist Oberdan Bezzi must have had this in mind when he penned the Hummer H2 450 scooter, because the mini-cycle would likely fit in the pickup bed of the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">H3T</a>. Bezzi borrowed several Hummer design queues for his moped, including the Hummer gas cap, chunky sheet metal, and we're guessing the seven bar grille. In this instance, the 2 in H2 stands for the amount of wheels and the 450 stands for Bezzi's imaginary 450 cc powerplant. <br /><br />While we love Bezzi's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/30/motosketches-auto-inspired-two-wheeled-designs/">imaginitive drawings</a>, we're afraid his Hummer-branded scooter made some of our neurons misfire. We don't care how knobby the tires are, scooters and mud just don't mix. Hummer doesn't make scooters for the same reason we don't see Harley Davidson-branded roller skates. Jeep did make the Compass, but we digress. We'd change that opinion, however, if Governor Schwarzenegger drove the two-wheeler to all of his public speaking engagements. <br /><br />[Source: Scooter Design via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/350290/hummer-scooter-concept-makes-trucks-look-silly">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/30/hummer-h2-450-scooter-makes-our-head-hurt/">HUMMER H2 450 scooter makes our head hurt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 Jan 2008 10:57:00 EST. Built on a modified version of the H3's basic architecture, the H3T's 134-inch wheelbase is a whopping 22 inches longer than the 111.9-inch wheelbase found on its SUV sibling. Like the regular H3, both the 3.7L 5-cylinder and 5.3L V8 are available, the latter a part of the top-level Alpha trim. The H3T is a real truck with a separate bed, and is sized in-between the Canyon/Colorado and Silverado/Sierra. By comparison, the short-bed H2 SUT has the same basic dimensions as its enclosed stablemate and relies on an Avalanche-like midgate to create more cargo room.<br /><br />No such problem exists with the H3T, whose cargo area has standard bedrails as well as additional storage compartments. As you'll see in the enclosed gallery, it can haul a dirt bike with no problem, and when equipped with the V8, it has a maximum towing capacity of 5,900 pounds. Two suspension packages will be offered, one oriented towards off-roading and another that's biased more toward on-road use and trailering. Inside, it's no different than the regular H3 in terms of comfort and instrumentation, and the rear seat of the crew-cab H3T flips down to provide an additional flat cargo space when necessary. Having driven both flavors of H3 as well as the H2 SUT, the H3T (particularly the Alpha) sounds like it might just be the pick of the litter, offering the best balance of power, comfort, and practicality to go with its off-road credentials. We can't wait to try one out for ourselves.<br /><br />[Source: GM via Pickuptruck.com]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">Chicago '08 Preview: 2009 HUMMER H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 18:07:00 EST. That's because scans of the pics have hit the interweb, giving us an early and unofficial look at the truck. <br /><br />Captions reveal that the HUMMER H3T will be available with a large number of dealer-installed accessories, including hardware for tying down your ten-speed or securing your (small) motorcycle and storage toolboxes, while GM's familiar bedrail system will be standard. There are reportedly storage bins built into the walls of the bed's plastic liner, and while they're no <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-ram-1/576946/">Ram Box</a>, should be big enough to hold small items like tools and gloves. <br /><br />We'll have to wait until we arrive in Chicago to tell you more, but we weren't even supposed to know this much, so it's all gravy, baby. <br /><br />[Source: hummerguy.net]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/hummer-h3t-images-released-early-in-magazine/">HUMMER H3T images published early by <em>Truck Trend</em></a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 14:58:00 EST. For some inexplicable reason, however, this HUMMER H3T prototype has been seen driving around in plain site outside the proving grounds. In fact, it was snapped at the recent Baja 1000 where it played the part of chase vehicle in full pre-production camouflage. <br /><br />You can see that the production model will indeed have four doors, unlike the short-bed two-door <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/30/hummer-h3t-coming-q3-2008/">H3T Concept</a> that HUMMER showed us back in 2003. That means the bed is not very big: about 4-feet wide by 4.5- to 5-feet long. You can forget about hauling full-size sheets of plywood, but the H3 HUT will offer additional storage options in the form of cargo boxes in the bed sides, and maybe even a removable lunchbox! Underneath it will be standard H3 fare, which means your choice of the new 295-hp 5.3L V8 or the 242-hp 3.7L inline-five cylinder engine. Production of the 2009 HUMMER H3 SUT is slated to begin in August of 2008 at the automaker's Shreveport plant with an annual production of 35,000 units. <br /><br />Since the H3 SUT isn't a marquee product, we don't expect we'll see its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. This seems like a good reveal for the Chicago Auto Show in February or the New York Auto Show in late March/early May. <br /><br />[Photos: Bob Spivey for Brenda Priddy &amp; Co.]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/29/spy-shots-2009-hummer-h3-sut-caught-at-baja-1000/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spy Shots: 2009 HUMMER H3 SUT caught at Baja 1000</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/29/spy-shots-2009-hummer-h3-sut-caught-at-baja-1000/">Spy Shots: 2009 HUMMER H3 SUT caught at Baja 1000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Nov 2007 15:57:00 EST. To prepare for the newest expansion of HUMMER's model lineup, the General is investing $73 million in the Shreveport, LA assembly facility where the H3T will be built. In the press release included after the jump, GM was mum on specifics related to the H3T, saying only that it will be positioned between its current mid- and full-size truck offerings. The photo above depicts the 2003 H3T Concept, but based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/24/spy-shots-2009-hummer-h3t/">spy shots</a> that have surfaced over the last year, look for the the production vehicle to adopt a crew cab <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/26/spy-shots-hummer-h3t/">4-door configuration</a>. We expect to see both the standard-issue I5 and the H3 Alpha's 5.3L V8 available underhood.<br /><br />[Source: GM]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/">2003 HUMMER H3T Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/03hummer_h3t_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/03hummer_h3t_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/03hummer_h3t_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/03hummer_h3t_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2003-hummer-h3t-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/03hummer_h3t_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/30/hummer-h3t-coming-q3-2008/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CONFIRMED: HUMMER H3T coming Q3 2008</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/30/hummer-h3t-coming-q3-2008/">CONFIRMED: HUMMER H3T coming Q3 2008</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Oct 2007 13:30:00 EST. As we told you a few months ago, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/24/spy-shots-2009-hummer-h3t/">H3T</a> was first shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show way back in '03, as a concept. The original was a 2-door pickup designed to be all-things Hummer to the mid-size p/up crowd. During its gestation, however, it has apparently sprouted an extra pair of ports and looks to follow the H2T model a little more closely. It's basically an SUV with a short pickup truck bed where the third row of seats might have gone, which is more practical and probably cheaper to build. Expect a full range of bed accessories to keep things in the 4-foot-long bed organized and secure. Also expect to see the 242-hp 3.7L inline-5 and the new 295-hp 5.3L V8 from the H3 Alpha on the option sheet. We think the H3T will show up late next year as a 2009 model.
