<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+motors/">General Motors</a> has just announced a sizeable recall on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hummer/h3">Hummer H3</a> models manufactured between 2006 and 2010. According to <em>Consumer Reports</em>, the vehicles have defective hood louvers that could come loose over time and detach from the vehicle while driving. The tabs that hold the louvers in place have been found to break, causing vibration that can lead to total separation.<br />
<br />
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is warning H3 owners to be on the lookout for any vibration of the louver assembly, as that may be an indicator that a failure is likely. A total of 162,000 <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/hummer">Hummers</a> are covered under the recall, and General Motors says that technicians will apply an adhesive in order to keep the louvers from coming loose at no cost. Owners may contact Hummer at 800-732-5493 or visit the NHTSA <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsummary.cfm?rcl_campaign_id=10V179000&amp;prod_id=849776&amp;moduletype=VEHICLE&amp;make=HUMMER&amp;model=H3&amp;veh_model_year=2008&amp;searchtype=DrillDown">recall site</a> for more information.<br />

Four Wheeler magazine put the marque's newest brute, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/08/first-drive-hummer-h3t/">H3T Alpha</a>, up against the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/12/detroit-2008-2009-dodge-ram-breaks-through-the-gate/">Dodge Ram</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/17/first-drive-2009-ford-f-150-capability-matters/">Ford F-150</a>, and... um... the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/23/first-drive-2009-suzuki-equator/">Suzuki Equator</a> (bet you didn't see that one coming), and the V8-powered HUMMER truck took home the medal. <br /><br />The trials lasted a week and involved traveling 1,000 miles over various terrain from sea level to more than a mile high. According to Four Wheeler, "Not only was the HUMMER highly competent and the staff favorite on the trail, it also has the added pluses of on-road comfort, distinctive looks and a usable pickup bed." While we wouldn't mind seeing the H3T earn the top spot against a wider field and stiffer competition, regardless of year, it's good to see it rewarded for its monumental capability.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Four Wheeler]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/09/hummer-h3t-declared-pickup-truck-of-the-year-by-four-wheeler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HUMMER H3T declared Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/09/hummer-h3t-declared-pickup-truck-of-the-year-by-four-wheeler/">HUMMER H3T declared Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 16:58:00 EST. <br /> The 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha arrived in the Autobog Garage on Election Day, and so it was my transportation to and from the local polling station to exercise my civic duty. I had the HUMMER in my thoughts when I went to cast my ballot, and looking at the paper before me was like seeing the fate of General Motors reflected in this year's presidential election. <br /> <br /> Barack Obama was new, different and promised an uncharted path to better times, the physical manifestation for this country of what the Chevy Volt is to GM. John McCain was both fiery and familiar, a well-liked veteran returning once again with a vision for America that was the same but better, just like the new Camaro. If Obama is to the Volt as McCain is to the Camaro, then that would make our current president the HUMMER H3T. It's the lame duck truck.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_h3t_garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><span style="font-weight: bold;"><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 John Neff / Weblogs, Inc.</small></span></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hummer-h3t-alpha/">Review: 2009 HUMMER H3T Alpha</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 18 Nov 2008 11:58:00 EST. The brand has been the go-to effigy when something needs to burn on the altar of eco desecration. But HUMMER doesn't have a theme song, it has the tagline "Like No Other." It also has a new pick-em-up truck we had the chance to drive recently in the High Sierras: the H3T. Follow the jump to find out if it's another HUMMER like no other, and check out the gallery of hi-res images below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t">First Drive: HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/hummer_h3t_press_drive06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/hummer_h3t_press_drive07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/hummer_h3t_press_drive08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/hummer_h3t_press_drive09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-hummer-h3t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/hummer_h3t_press_drive10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/08/first-drive-hummer-h3t/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Drive: HUMMER H3T</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/08/first-drive-hummer-h3t/">First Drive: HUMMER H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 08 Aug 2008 11:59:00 EST. Built on a modified version of the H3's basic architecture, the H3T's 134-inch wheelbase is a whopping 22 inches longer than the 111.9-inch wheelbase found on its SUV sibling. Like the regular H3, both the 3.7L 5-cylinder and 5.3L V8 are available, the latter a part of the top-level Alpha trim. The H3T is a real truck with a separate bed, and is sized in-between the Canyon/Colorado and Silverado/Sierra. By comparison, the short-bed H2 SUT has the same basic dimensions as its enclosed stablemate and relies on an Avalanche-like midgate to create more cargo room.<br /><br />No such problem exists with the H3T, whose cargo area has standard bedrails as well as additional storage compartments. As you'll see in the enclosed gallery, it can haul a dirt bike with no problem, and when equipped with the V8, it has a maximum towing capacity of 5,900 pounds. Two suspension packages will be offered, one oriented towards off-roading and another that's biased more toward on-road use and trailering. Inside, it's no different than the regular H3 in terms of comfort and instrumentation, and the rear seat of the crew-cab H3T flips down to provide an additional flat cargo space when necessary. Having driven both flavors of H3 as well as the H2 SUT, the H3T (particularly the Alpha) sounds like it might just be the pick of the litter, offering the best balance of power, comfort, and practicality to go with its off-road credentials. We can't wait to try one out for ourselves.<br /><br />[Source: GM via Pickuptruck.com]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">Chicago '08 Preview: 2009 HUMMER H3T</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 18:07:00 EST.
