It's got some company in the form of its Ford-branded cousin, the Verve. Parked onstage along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-ford-verve-concept-visits-the-stage/">3-door unveiled</a> in Europe earlier this year, the Verve notchback sedan sheds its predecessor's rear hatch and gains two doors and a trunk. The new rear treatment is extremely evocative of the Mondeo, and that's a good thing. In fact, the Verve (in this particular Autoblogger's opinion, at least) is better-looking than the similar Mazda2 4-door that also made its debut today. The Verve trifecta will be completed at the Detroit Auto Show in January, where we'll see the Americanized version in concept form. After looking at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-ford-focus-ses-coupe/">2008 Ford Focus</a>, we fully expect every cool Ford Europe kinetic design feature to be jettisoned in favor of a ham-handed implementation of the "bold" American-market Gillette Mach 3 cues. Here's hoping we're wrong. <br /><br />[Source: Ford via EGMCartech]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/">Ford Verve Sedan Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ford_verve_sedan_concept_official_image004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ford_verve_sedan_concept_official_image003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ford_verve_sedan_concept_official_image002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ford_verve_sedan_concept_official_image001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-verve-sedan-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ford_verve_sedan_concept_official_image005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/ford-adds-two-doors-trunk-to-verve-concept-in-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford adds two doors, trunk to Verve Concept in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/ford-adds-two-doors-trunk-to-verve-concept-in-china/">Ford adds two doors, trunk to Verve Concept in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2007 15:02:00 EST. China is the first market in the world to see the four-door sedan version of the Mazda2, which originally debuted in Europe as a three-door hatch. According to the press-release from Mazda, the Mazda2 sedan will be produced in China by Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. at its Nanjing plant. It's unclear, however, when or even if the Mazda2 sedan will be exported for sale in other markets besides China. It could also be that production of the Mazda2 sedan will occur outside of China at the same facilities where the three-door hatch is produced. Mazda also is introducing a five-door hatchback version of the Mazda2 in China. If any of you find yourselves at the 2007 Guangzhou Motor Show this week, takes some pics and let us know. <br /><br />[Source: Mazda]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/">2008 Mazda2 Sedan</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/p1j03564s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/p1j03565s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/p1j03566s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/p1j03567s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mazda2-sedan/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/p1j03568s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/mazda2-sedan-unveiled-in-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mazda2 sedan unveiled in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/mazda2-sedan-unveiled-in-china/">Mazda2 sedan unveiled in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2007 13:37:00 EST. Today, however, Hyundai unveiled an updated version of the Coupe, known as the Tiburon in the U.S., at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China. Not much information is available, but we can see the modified front end sports new headlamps, a wide lower grille and small slit right above the license plate. From some angles it looks similar to a Mazda MX-3. The rear has also been updated with a wide expanse of black housing a pair of exhaust tips at the bottom and new taillights that are smaller than the current model's. There are reportedly no mechanical changes involved with this update, so the Tiburon will likely soldier on with either a 2.0-liter four-cylinder or 2.7-liter V6. We can't say whether or not this is what the 2008 Hyundai Tiburon destined for the North American market will look like, but chances are it is. <br /><br />(Check out more pics including live shots from the show and more official Hyundai pics after the jump)<br /><br />[Source: autoblog.nl]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/24/new-hyundai-coupe-tiburon-debuts-in-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Hyundai Coupe (Tiburon) debuts in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/24/new-hyundai-coupe-tiburon-debuts-in-china/">New Hyundai Coupe (Tiburon) debuts in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Jul 2006 16:25:00 EST. Today, Nissan officially unveiled the car, to be known as <em>Jun Yi</em> in Chinese, at the Guangzhou Motor Show.<br /><br />Recapping what we know, the Livina Geniss is a seven-seat wagon/MPV that'll be be nicely outfitted inside as Nissan blends luxury with practicality. The car's design is pretty inoffensive -- not surprising given that this is, above all else, a family car.<br /><br />Visually, the front end generates some interest with its oversized headlights and prominent grille, while the chunky front bumper is broken up by a large lower intake opening and nicely-integrated round foglights. A pair of ridges on the hood accent what would otherwise be a pretty vanilla-looking surface.<br /><br />Power comes from Nissan's new MR18DE 1.8L four cylinder, and it will be built at the Dongfeng Motor Co.'s (DFL) Huadu plant in Guangdong Province.<br /><br />(Additional info, photo after the jump)<br /><br />[Source: Nissan]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/24/official-pix-nissan-livina-geniss/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nissan Livina Geniss unveiled in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/24/official-pix-nissan-livina-geniss/">Nissan Livina Geniss unveiled in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Jul 2006 12:58:00 EST.
