The Giugiaro Mustang concept has been around since the 2006 LA Auto Show, and damn if it doesn't still look great. In fact, spy photos of the next-gen Mustang show plenty of Giugiaro cues, especially at the front end. It makes sense, then, that the Fabrizio Giugiaro-designed pony car concept has been out on the street being driven since its debut. Last year, Mr.Giugiaro messed up a rim while (poorly) parking his creation in Bulgaria, and we just found this YouTube video from last February of the Italian Stallion doing donuts in a parking lot. Based on our experience, most concept cars don't even run under their own power, and those that do are usually limited to low speeds. That is to say, concept cars aren't usually seen doing donuts in a parking lot. Some heralded the 2006 Giugiaro Mustang Concept as a portent of things to come for the Blue Oval's successful pony car. While that may be the case, we hope what happened to the car last Friday is not a bad omen for the next iteration of the Mustang. The Mustang Giugiaro Concept's designer, Fabrizio Giugiaro himself, was driving the car in Sofia, Bulgaria after showing it an exhibition when he scraped one of its concept rims against a concrete curb. While the damage was limited to just the front passenger-side rim, we suspect it will cost more to fix than buying a new Mustang outright.

Though over a year old since it was introduced at the L.A. Auto Show in 2006, the Guigiaro Mustang still managed to impress the Bulgarians, who said of the car, "words simply fail to describe the interpretation of the world-class coachbuilder." We agree, though we could come up with a few words to describe his parking abilities.

Little is known about the Giugiaro Mustang Concept, except that it's set to debut at the L.A. Auto Show later this month. A member of MustangForums.com, however, hit the jackpot when he snagged the Italian Stallion at a refueling station in Italy. Some are saying the Giugiaro Mustang will be a thinly veiled preview of the 2010 Mustang. The photographer who snapped this pic says the front actually looks a lot like the new Camaro, which we interpret to mean that the headlights are likely tucked under the hood and partially obscured. He also says that the concept's roof is all glass that flows right into the windshield. We'll have to wait until L.A. to find out more, since that sober looking fellow standing in between the lens and its subject prevented our guy from getting any more shots. That's a dead sexy rump, though, and those rear fenders look inspired by the Shelby GR-1 Concept. The only other info we could find on the Giugiaro Mustang Concept is from Ward's Auto, which claims the car will come with the most powerful Mustang engine developed so far.
