Apocalypse Preparation: Geiger Ford F650

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Geiger Ford F650.

When the fit hits the shan, we've got two phone calls to make: our Cayman Islands-based banker and Geiger cars. For 99,000 euro we can protect our loved ones while punching through some of the most wicked terrain this side of Dakar in the robust luxury of the German tuner's interpretation of the Ford F-650. Weighing in at 5.2-tons and stretching over 21-feet long, the Geigerfied uber-truck finds motivation from a tweaked 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel putting out 320 hp and 738 lb.-ft. of torque. Grunt is shoveled to a six-speed Allison 3000 automatic gearbox and on down to a biggie-sized driveshaft that powers the four, 22-inch rear wheels. Both the suspension and brakes are air-powered, and if we're willing to shell out a bit more cash, we can get chrome fuel tanks, leather, navigation and, surprisingly, gull-wing doors. We think this would compliment our imaginary post-apocalyptic stable that also includes our all-time favorite RV, the Wothahellizat.

Geiger Cars builds Black Edition Z06

Click above for high-res gallery of Black Edition Z06

German tuner Geiger Cars is partial to modifying American cars, so it was an obvious choice to use the Corvette Z06 as a base for its latest special edition car. Dubbed the Corvette Z06 Black Edition, Geiger adds a unique body kit with a Ferrari F430-ish rear end and LED taillights, as well as a more aggressive front lip. Black painted rims are available in both 18- and 19-inch sizes, as well. Output of the 7.0-liter V8 is listed as unchanged at 505 bhp and 470 lb-ft torque, although Geiger does offer a Stage 1 performance kit for the Z06 that includes a new air intake system, upgraded exhaust manifolds, and a free-flowing exhaust system good for 542 bhp. We would insert a joke right here about KITT from Knight Rider or maybe Darth Vader, but it's been a long day and there's not much else to say besides that's one blacked-out 'Vette.

GeigerCars muscles up with HUMMER H3 GT

Germany's GeigerCars has an affinity for American metal, and is unafraid to go to wacky extremes in its efforts to create its customized whips. Often, HUMMER provides the canvas for these tuners with dubs on their brains, and the arrival of the V8-powered H3 Alpha has inspired them to whip up a new ground pounder. The result is the HUMMER H3 GT you see here. An engine software tune, new intake, and sport exhaust (note the dual outlets in back) boost the Alpha's numbers to 335 horsepower and 323 lb-ft of torque. The rig is also dropped, given uprated brakes and a set of 23" rims. The windows get the blackout treatment, as do the taillamps and markers in front. Finally, the bodywork is given a monochrome finish accented with a racing stripe in whatever color the owner chooses. On the green tip, GeigerCars can also rig the H3 to run on natural gas, reducing emissions up to 20%. It's all laid out in the press release after the jump. You see? The Germans know how to roll with mad flavor, too.

Ford GT gets the Geiger-treatment, 0-60 drops to 3.5s

Click the image above for over 20 more pics.

Germany's GeigerCars is responsible for some ungainly creations, normally turning up the wick on vehicles that have no business being fast in the first place. But when the firm directs its resources towards exotic American muscle, it's the automotive equivalent of Henry Kissinger – absolute power corrupting absolutely.

By ditching the stock supercharger and installing an upgraded unit, the Geiger crew was able to increase boost pressure from 0.8-bar (11.6 psi) to 1.25-bar (18 psi). After installing new throttle valves, replacing the air filter, equipping the GT with a new exhaust and remapping the ECU, they were able to bring power levels up to 701 HP and 617 lb.-ft. of torque. 60 now comes up in a scant 3.5 seconds and top speed eclipses the double-century mark by 11 mph.

Keeping the GT from pirouetting at speed is an adjustable suspension that drops the supercar by 60mm over 20-inch wheels wrapped in 245mm tires up front, with 21-inchers swathed in 325s out back. Aside from the new ride height, GiegerCars left the rest of the body unscathed, save the rear bumper that houses new four-inch exhaust tips.

GeigerCars' full press release is after the jump.

GeigerCars builds gaudy "STAR FORCE" Escalade for Oscar night

GeigerCars STAR FORCE hood ornamentWe generally like what the folks at GeigerCars come up with. The German tuner/accessorizer loves American metal, and is known for creating whimsical rides like its Gulf-liveried HUMMER GT, 700-horsepower police-trim H2 and a Christmas-themed HUMMER complete with simulated fireplace. They do customer cars too, and last year, they organized a big meet for European HUMMER owners. That's all well and good.

"Good" is not a word we'd use to describe their latest creation, a custom Cadillac Escalade for German TV network ProSieben. It will be used for the foreign press outlet's TV coverage of Oscar night in Los Angeles, and it stands as a towering example (even with its 4-inch drop) of "When Bling Goes Bad."

We get into the details (look at that hood ornament!) after the jump.

HoliHUMMER! GeigerCars' Santa-style H2

GeigarCars Christmas HUMMER

We know God loves us. How else can one explain the existence of GeigerCars? Whether it's a 700-horsepower police H2, an audacious Gulf-liveried HUMMER GT, or any number of the various customer cars the company has prepared, no one knows how to hook up a HUMMER like Geiger. Modders who think they've accomplished something by throwing on donks, a killer stereo and calling it a day are simply not in the same ballpark.

Not to say that the GeigerCars' HUMMERs aren't ridiculous. They certainly are. But some of its specials have a certain kind of charm, and the latest fun creation is a perfect example. Behold the GeigerCars Christmas Edition HUMMER H2. Created for a German television program, the machine sports the seemingly-requisite Lambo doors, is finished in bright red, and has a custom winter scene featuring the Star of Bethlehem airbrushed on its newly-panelized side (Geiger welded steel covers over the rear windows). In addition to all that, the truck's full profile is decked out in lights, Christmas-style. And here we thought people got carried away just lighting up their homes...

It gets even more festive! Read the rest after the jump.

Tuner Tuesdays: "Gulf-wing" HUMMER GT by GeigerCars

Obscene, you have a new ride: the HUMMER GT. German tuning house GeigerCars.de GmbH has managed to take the most outlandish and vulgar vehicle on the market and make it even more so with a host of visual and performance enhancements that altogether manage to scream "look at me" louder than a sorority girl at Mardis Gras.

First the good stuff: GeigerCars has upgraded the 6.0L V8 with a supercharger, added a new ECU and piped in a new stainless steel exhaust system, bringing the magic numbers up to 556 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque.

GeigerCars also upgraded the suspension, dropping the ride height by 100 millimeters and adding new anti-roll bars. The most obvious addition, though, are the rims. Forget about dinner plates, this sick puppy rides on freakin' flying saucers: giant chrome 30-inch rims, 10 inches wide at all four corners. The mammoth wheels are shod with 315/30R 30 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. The wheel and tire package alone costs €28,000, but GeigerCars also offers packages with 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28-inch rims. (Remember when 18 inches were considered big?) Bringing all that heft to a stop, GeigerCars have outfitted the HUMMER GT with a €10,000 brake system with 15-inch cross-drilled discs with 8-pot calipers up front.

Inside the cabin, GeigerCars outfitted the truck with faux carbon trim and a full multimedia sytem with sat-nav, DVD player and television receiver showing on twin LCDs. Finally, outside, the HUMMER GT was painted in the baby blue and orange livery of the classic Porsche 917 of McQueen LeMans fame, complete with Gulf logos above the rear fender. The party piece, though (as if the blingtastic sport-ute needed more), are the front doors that can be opened normally or upwards, scissor-style.

With all the do-dads and bolt-ons listed here, the HUMMER GT sells for a jaw-dropping €133,900, and will propel itself to sixty in 7.9 second flat. This HUMMER really is "like nothing else", and if all that flash won't get you noticed, nothing will.

GeigerCars builds Mustang GT520

UPDATE: high resolution image gallery added after jump

GeigerCars.de is beginning to put some tuners in the U.S. to shame with its highly modified versions of American muscle. While working on its supercharger kit for the Mustang GT, it decided to go one (or 20) steps further and build a complete show car to show off their work. The stock 4.6-liter V8 of the Mustang GT has been enlarged to 5.2 liters, and with the aid of a belt-driven supercharger and an ample intercooler now develops 520 horsepower and 415 ft-lbs. of torque. The 520GT routes all those new ponies to the rear tires through a modified six-speed manual and can snap off a run to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way to a 178 mph top speed. The suspension and brakes were also upgraded and a set of 20-inch GeigerCars chrome wheels was also added (gotta have the bling).

Since it is a show car, the 520GT has to look the part and achieves this with a specially developed aero-enhancing body kit that can fit on both coupes and convertibles. A deeper chin spoiler scoops up air and shovels it into the big oval air dam that feeds the intercooler, while an integrated diffuser in the rear fascia and large rear wing keep things steady at speed. The 520GT would also feel right at home in an IASCA event thanks to a 10,000-watt JBL sound system.

GeigerCars will be taking the 520GT on tour around the globe next year, so hopefully it will show up in the U.S. and teach our American Mustang tuners that there's no monopoly on pony power.

Europeans like HUMMERs too

HUMMER by GeigerCars.de

It's official. Everyone loves a HUMMER. What else are we supposed to think when we get word of a big HUMMER rally in -- get ready -- Munich! You know Munich, that would be in Germany, which is in Europe, where we're repeatedly told no one wants a big, ugly gas-guzzling Suburban Assault Vehicle like a HUMMER.

Clearly, this is just some marketing stunt by GM, right? Wrong.

Hummer World RunThe 2006 HUMMER World Run is the brainchild of GeigerCars, Europe's biggest HUMMER dealer and one of the biggest HUMMER tuner/customizers you'll find in any country. If the name rings a bell, you probably remember their recent contribution to the American law enforcement community -- a 700-horsepower H2 that went to an unnamed County Sheriff in Texas.

Said to be the first international meet for HUMMER owners, the two-day extravaganza is scheduled for October 7-8, during which over 150 HUMMERs and mil-spec HMMWVs will be on display and testing their mettle on an off-road course designed to showcase their capabilities. As of press time, we were not able to find out if the course has been altered to include a simulated US fast-food drive-thru lane complete with poles. Clearly, that would make it the most challenging HUMMER test course of all time...

Regular visitors to the festival will be able to test drive the HUMMER range, be eligible to win a 1-year HUMMER lease, and go for rides in GeigerCars' 10-meter-long H2 limousine -- allowing them to experience what it's like to go to to an American prom, albeit with better beer. It is Germany, after all.

Texas law enforcement issued 700 HP Hummer

As if we needed another reason not to wind up on the wrong side of the law in Texas, this 700-horsepower Hummer H2 with 28-inch rims clinches it. An unnamed Texas sheriff commissioned GeigerCars based in Europe to build the black-and-white beast. It's powered by a 7.0L supercharged V8 making the aforementioned Texas-sized allotment of 700 horses. You can see that the suspension's been lowered and tightened up to handle the extra power and larger eight-pot stoppers have been installed. The bigger brakes will be put to the test trying to arrest the motion of those one-piece chrome 28-inch rims after they've reached the H2's terminal velocity of 155 electronically-limited miles per hour.
