They all appear on the Gaywheels.com second annual Best Cars of 2008 list. The site's three editors made their choices in each of six categories: Best New Car, Best Makeover, Best Date Car, Best Family Car, Best Club Car and Best Car for Me.

Gaywheels founder Joe LaMuraglia tells us, "You can also argue that while the prevalence of families is on the rise, the majority of LGBT consumers are single or couples and don't have the same requirements as married couples with kids." LaMuraglia chose the 2009 Mazda6 as his Best New Car, arguing that the midsize is "bigger, badder and more beautiful" than the previous 6. His personal best car, however, is the TDI Sportwagen. Its combination of frugality and good looks earned the site's praise of "vehicular comfortable shoes."

Joe Tralongo, Gaywheels' Montana editor, chose the Nissan GT-R as his Best New Car and the Subaru WRX as his personal favorite. Josee Valcourt, the site's New York Editor, likes the Volkswagen CC overall but the seemingly contradictory 335i Convertible as his ride of choice.

What a coincidence. Gay car fans like some of the same cars that straight car fans do.

[Source: Gaywheels.com]
Gaywheels.com picks Best Cars of 2008 from a different perspective originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 22 Dec 2008 16:59:00 EST.
Lexus is joining its Toyota stablemate Scion in directly courting gay audiences. The luxury brand's edgier, youngersibling has been in the business of marketing to gays essentially since its inception, but this will mark the first timethat Lexus has directly sought the homosexual dollar.

Brian Bolain, Lexus' national advertising and media manager outlines the process that led Lexus into the market ina Gay365.com interview. Being gay himself, Bolain elaborated on how and why Toyota rolled out Scion to the gaycommunity, and how such lessons are being applied to the company's upscale Lexus brand.

In addition to discussing Lexus' shifting market strategies, writer Michael Wilke discusses company (andadvertising firm) initiatives in place to craft marketing messages that speak to alternative and minority audienceswithout offending them.

Lexus joins luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac in directly vying for GLBT dollar.
