In Seattle and again at Pebble Beach, Autoblog got behind the wheel of the new Infiniti G37 Coupe. The new G didn't go to the gym or to BALCO-merely pumping up would have been the easy route. It disappeared to some secluded mixed martial arts school in the mountains and came back with a bit more muscle, coordination, and reflexes. Click read to get the full story, and check out the gallery with a few more detailed pics of the car.

  • Infintit G37 Coupe Journey (5-speed auto): $35,000
  • Infiniti G37 Coupe Sport 6MT (6-speed manual): $35,550
In terms of bells and whistles, here's Infiniti's pricing for the major options and option packages:
  • Moonroof: $1,000
  • Premium Package: $3,200
  • Sport Package: $1,850
  • Navigation Package: $2,200
  • Technology Package: $1,150
  • Performance Tire & Wheel Package: $650
  • Rear Spoiler: $550
  • 4-Wheel Active Steer package: $1,300
  • Wood interior trim: $450
The complete press release has been pasted after the jump. We've checked the company's website, and the G37 has not yet been added to the "Build Your Infiniti" feature yet. We're guessing that it'll be there come 8/21. You can check out plenty of high-res shots in the updated gallery below.

UPDATE: We spoke to the folks at Nissan and got some more info for you. We were wondering what the difference between the base car and the Journey was. The Journey adds the following items as standard equipment:
  • Auto on/off headlights
  • Dual HVAC
  • In-dash CD6
  • 8-way Power Passenger Seat
Additionally, there are no options available for the base car. Buyers must step up to Journey or Sport 6MT if they want to add premium, navigation, sport, etc.

Infiniti releases new pics and complete specs on G37

click above image to view new high-res pics of the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe

While the G37 Coupe has already had an unceremonious debut ahead of its scheduled unveiling at the New York Auto Show next month, Infiniti has seen fit to distribute a press release today (although directed at the UK market) with four more images of the new coupe, as well as every detailed spec you could ask for. What's the new G37's coefficient of drag? 0.29. How big is its fuel tank? 20.0 gallons. How much does it weigh? Well, that depends on the model, of which there are three: the base G37, G37 Journey and G37 Sport 6MT. Like other Infinitis, there will also be three option packages from which to choose: the Premium Package (upgraded Bose stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats and mirrors, etc.), the Sport Package (19-inch wheels, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential, stiffer suspension, sport brakes, sport seats and an appropriate body kit) and the Navigation Package (touch-screen navigation, 9.3-gigabyte hard drive). There's too much to list here, so you can peruse the press release and a shot of the entire specs list after the jump. The gallery has also been updated with high-res, desktop wallpaper-sized versions of the new pics.

Next Infiniti G Coupe officially named G37

Infiniti G37 We showed you a sketch of the forthcoming new Infiniti G coupe back in January. Set to be unveiled next month at the NY International Auto Show, the car now has a name attached to it: G37. This was confirmed in an email that went out earlier today from the show organizers. We also have a new teaser shot of the car, as you can see here. No reason's been given yet for the updated nomenclature, but we'll guess that a bumped-up 3.7L version of the VQ powerplant will reside under the coupe's hood. While the teaser shows just the headlight, the 2006 Infiniti Coupe Concept gives you a real good idea of what to expect in the looks department.

The other Infiniti debut at NY is called the EX Concept, which is said to showcase new technology that the automaker will implement on production cars for the first time ever by the end of 2007. We'll be in the Big Apple to bring you all the news as it happens.
