This is especially true in the UK, where independent supercar manufacturer Farbio is based. And with that growing niche market in mind, Farbio has taken some weight out of its GTS supercar to give birth to its own Track Day Car.

Yes, that is its official name, and no, it's not very imaginative. But we have a feeling anyone who gets their hands on the car's steering wheel won't particularly care what it's called. From the standard GTS350 Supercharged, with its forced-induction 350hp 3.0-liter V6, Farbio has stripped out the interior, replaced the fuel tank with a sack, and fitted a new transmission and limited-slip differential as well as semi-slick Toyo R888 racing rubber. The more powerful GTS450 can also be ordered in Track Day Car specification, but Farbio will only build 25 examples in all, starting at £73,500 (equivalent to $112k USD) before optional extras. Farbio released only the one photo you see above (along with a press release you'll find after the jump), but you can check out the standard GTS in the gallery below.

Gallery: Farbio GTS

[Source: Farbio]
Continue reading Short Circuit: Farbio releases GT350 Track Day Car

Short Circuit: Farbio releases GT350 Track Day Car originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 19:29:00 EST. That GTS supercar maker from the UK? We barely did either, but it's kind of a moot point now anyhow. You can go ahead and forget it again. Instead, think Farbio. No, not the romance novel cover model - slash - "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spokesman. It's Farbio, with an "R" in there. The former Farboud Sports Cars has become Farbio Sports Cars. The change was made because GTS designer and current minority shareholder, Arash Farboud, has another company in the supercar game and there still seems to be a lot of confusion about the difference between the two. And so, the two companies decided to distance themselves a bit for clarity sake. Each has a supercar getting ready for release, but the two cars are very different.

The Farboud Farbio GTS is perhaps best known to U.S. enthusiasts via Project Gotham Racing 3 on the Xbox 360. Looking something like the lovechild between a Carrera GT, Exige and Koenigsegg ménage a trois, the GTS is powered by a Cosworth-tuned Ford V6, which produces 275 hp in naturally aspirated form, or 375 with the optional supercharger fitted. The GTS pricing hasn't been confirmed, but we do have word that U.S. sales are in the cards. The GTS fits in between, say, a Lotus Exige and a Noble M400 in size and power. Should be exciting. Arash, on the other hand, is the company producing the Arash AF10. That's the carbon fiber supercar powered the 7.0-liter Corvette Z06 engine hooked up to a six-speed Graziano transmission and capable of 200+ mph. Should be crystal clear now, right?

Full press release below the fold.

[Source: Farbio]
Continue reading Farboud changes its name to Farbio

Farboud changes its name to Farbio originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 07 Jun 2007 17:37:00 EST. The new Z06 LS7-powered supercar from Arash Farboud and the rest of the gang at Farboud Sports Cars is still under development, but this item pertains to the company's first effort, the GTS.

The Farboud GTS is perhaps best known to U.S. enthusiasts via PGR3 on Xbox 360. Looking something like a Carrera GT, Exige and Koenigsegg ménage a trois lovechild, the car is finally nearing UK delivery. The company has announced that it hopes to have cars at dealerships by spring. And even better for U.S. fans, the development of the American version has been progressing nicely and U.S. deliveries should start soon after.

A dealership network including outlets in Maine, Oregon, New York and Michigan is in place and the first year production of 50 cars has already been allocated. Getting the car to comply with U.S. regulations and establishing warranty and service protocol have extended the initial delivery estimates, but it won't be much longer now according to the company.

Similar to the Nobles, the GTS is powered by a Cosworth tuned Ford V6, minus the turbo. In the Farboud the engine produces 275 hp, or 375 with the optional supercharger fitted. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but the last figure on record was just under £50,000. We can't wait to get our hands on one of these and see how it stacks up against the aforementioned Noble and other competitors.

Thanks for the tip, Mark. Cool site!

[Source: CoolBrit.net]
Farboud GTS nearing delivery originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 04 Jan 2007 14:35:00 EST. Regardless of his obscurity in the U.S., the maverick Brit Arash Farboud will be displaying his company's AF10 supercar at the British Motor Show next month.

The AF10 will use a Corvette Z06-sourced 7.0L V8 mated to a six-speed Graziano transmission and hope to reach a top speed in excess of 200 mph. The car employs a steel and carbon fiber tub with an all-carbon fiber body.

Supposedly the party at the Farboud display is the stuff of legends, so we'll keep our ears and eyes open for news of when the AF10 debuts next month at the British Motor Show.

[Source: Autocar]
Continue reading Arash AF10 supercar to be at British Motor Show

Arash AF10 supercar to be at British Motor Show originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 29 Jun 2006 18:08:00 EST.
