The good news for folks who both love and hate the FAB Design McLaren MP4-12C Terso is that there will only be five made. But to our eyes, the Swiss tuners known for some felonious assaults on innocent cars (the McLaren SLR Desire, anyone?) have been admirably restrained with this one, although we'll admit that Mansory set the bar high.

New front and rear clips for the Mac seems to be the thing, and the Terso fulfills that brief with a polygonal theme for its widebody stance. The side skirts are also new, and they're topped by a side intake with a new cutout to match the stance up front. The wheels haven't grown in size but, are FAB's traditionally deep 20-inchers.

The rear wing is a removable bolt-on, and if you look closely at the front of the car you'll notice a wing just below the front windshield. We're not sure if that one comes off as well, but remember, there will only be five of these. Check it out while you can in the gallery of high-res photos.
McLaren MP4-12C Terso shows FAB Design's good side originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 19:19:00 EST.
We find it a bit ironic that a car this hideous came from a company called Fab Design. It's hard to imagine that a car as pretty as the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG could be turned into something so offensive. We're fine with the matte blue paint finish, but the added aero treatment, massive rear air vents below the taillamps and blue-trimmed wheels are all sorts of awful.

And then there's the interior.

This kaleidoscope of ugly uses a mixture of white and blue on nearly every touchable surface, including the leather seats. We don't doubt that it's as comfortable as ever, but this is eye-stabbingly bad.

Don't believe us? See the Fab Design SLS AMG for yourself in the high-res image gallery below.

It took us a while, but we have finally realized what's going on: tuning companies are overstocked with Butt Ugly. They didn't ration their supply properly, now they've got unused cases of Butt Ugly lying around, stinking up the place. That's why we've been assaulted with all these steaming piles lately -- because 2010 Butt Ugly will be shipping soon, so all this 2009 Butt Ugly has got to go go go!

And that's the best explanation we can come up with for this, the FAB Design Full Broadside Porsche Panamera. The "extrovert Wide Bodykit" is fashioned entirely from carbon fiber, not that it helps any. If we have anything nice to say, it's that we don't mind the wheels or three trapezoidal exhaust tips. Nor do we mind the upgraded engine doing 690 hp. But that wrapping... oh, the humanity...

FAB suggests this is what its customers want, saying that its tweaked Panamera is the first of its new FAB Exclusive line. Praise be it will be limited to 15 units. The press release is after the jump, and to those that can, have a look at the FAB Panamera from every angle in the gallery of high-res photos below. Hat tip to Johannes

FAB Design SLR Desire - Click above for a high-res gallery

Don't look now, but there's another Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren special on the scene. The latest comes via FAB Design, the tuner that shocked us with their modded SL and CL in Geneva last year. Now they've turned their attention to the SLR and dubbed the result "Desire." If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, desire must be in the loins, and this one leaves us kind of limp. While it isn't as divisively over-the-top as, say, the ASMA Perfectus or the Hamann Volcano, or as garish as the chrome or gold ones we've seen, we'd prefer the SLR 722 GT directly from Mercedes.

The carbon fiber rebody is distinctive and bold, and might not be as bad as we implied. It has a certain DTM machismo to it that might appeal to certain SLR fanciers who want something a little different. In its favor, the FAB Design Desire isn't all about looks. It does feature some suspension tweaks and engine mods that bring power up to 750 hp and nearly 800 torques. And all of that bodywork, along with that optional rear wing, are said to increase downforce considerably. Only 15 will be offered and rather amazingly, all are said to be spoken for. There's a full press release after the jump.

Gallery: FAB Design Desire SLR

[Source: FAB Design]
Continue reading Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren based Desire. Why, oh why, would somebody intentionally inflict this kind of punishment on a pair of perfectly good Mercedes Benzes?
