REPORT: Ford continues strong sales in European Market
Ford's year-over-year sales were up nearly four percent for the month of October here in the United States, but the Blue Oval appears to be in even better shape across the Pond in Europe. The Dearborn, MI-based automaker saw its sales in the top 19 Euro nations rise by 12.8% versus October 2008, thanks in part to several government clunker programs. According to The Detroit News, Ford says its retail sales are up substantially as well, as 64 percent of all sales were of the non-fleet variety, compared to 48 percent in October 2008. Overall, ... REPORT: Stand-alone Lincoln-Mercury dealers being scaled out of existence 5 days ago on Autoblog
In 2006, Ford began to shrink its dealership network in order to more efficiently align its distribution network. Three years later, it appears that the hardest hit are the company's stand-alone Lincoln-Mercury dealerships. While there were 619 Lincoln-Mercury dealerships nationwide just a few ...

Ford has been working hard to integrate its product lineup on a global scale, but it appears that some models available overseas may never make it to U.S. shores. Ford CEO Alan Mulally has apparently told Automotive News that the Thai-built global Ranger and the A-Segment Ka likely won't be ...
SEMA 2009: Galpin builds custom '69 Mustang right on the show floor 8 days ago on Autoblog
While those of us in the media walked around the show floor at SEMA looking for the cool, the crazy, and the just plain awesome, there were people doing actual work. Real work. No, we're not talking about the security people that wouldn't let us in the show before 9:00am no matter how we tried to ...
SEMA 2009: The rest of the best at the Ford display 8 days ago on Autoblog
SEMA is an interesting show. We go in knowing full well that 60-75% of the cars we'll be walking past and/or covering are just trash. Sorry if this bombshell offends anyone, but your Chrysler 300C doesn't need 26-inch hoops, nor seventy gallons of sparkle orange paint. Or diamonds. But, as ...
SEMA 2009: Ford SVT Raptor even more appealing with 6.2-liter V8 8 days ago on Autoblog
If Ford had only offered the 5.4-liter V8 in the SVT Raptor and called it a day, we doubt anyone would have complained. Just the fact that the Blue Oval even had the guts to build such a vehicle deserves applause. But they didn't. The 2009 SEMA Show saw the introduction of Ford's 6.2-liter V8 ...
VIDEO: Ford press conference yields surprise $650 car announcement 8 days ago on Autoblog
Between the hysteria of this week's SEMA Show and Chrysler's never-ending (and partially baffling) revelations yesterday, a shocking announcement by Ford Motor Company has been nearly drowned out. But rest assured, your Autoblog team never rests (even after huffing down 9,000 calories apiece at ...
SEMA 2009: Ford Taurus puts on a good SHO 8 days ago on Autoblog
We didn't expect much from Ford's new fulls-size four-door at this year's SEMA show, but the quartet of Taurus Concepts were actually pretty impressive. The design lends itself better to customization than we might've thought, and we wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few owners ...
SEMA 2009: Bigfoot still a crowd favorite, 35 years later 9 days ago on Autoblog
We distinctly remember 3rd grade. Specifically, sitting in the library once a month during recess. Why would we give up dodgeball and four-square to sit inside and read? Because the new issues of Off Road and 4Wheeler had just dropped and they had stories about Bigfoot! Bearfoot too, and ...
Ford unveils industry's first* production inflatable seat belts [w/VIDEO] 9 days ago on Autoblog
They started out in our steering wheels before taking up residence across the dash. They then migrated to the side of our vehicles and grew to be full-sized curtains. Automakers seem to stick them everywhere, so where else can airbags go to protect our fleshy, organic bodies when metal meets ...
SEMA 2009: Steve Saleen launches SMS Superparts 10 days ago on Autoblog

We can't believe it's been just a year since Hurst unveiled its stunning white and gold Hemi Challenger. Since that time we've seen a few variations, including different color combinations and the Competition/Plus model, and we even got to see how the cars were built. Up to this point, all of ...
SEMA 2009: Ford EcoBoost '34 Hot Rod rocks a V6 in style 11 days ago on Autoblog
Putting modern engines into old cars isn't anything new, but this '34 3-window coupe in the Ford display isn't like anything we've ever seen before. Detroit Street Rods has wedged the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 underneath the hood, making it the first rear-drive application for the twin-turbocharged ...

SEMA 2009: 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2 packs 411 HP 12 days ago on Autoblog
When Ford first revealed the new F-150 SVT Raptor a year ago, the initial powerplant was the same 5.4-liter V8 found in more pedestrian F-series trucks. At the launch, however, Ford officials promised that an all-new 6.2-liter V8 would become available right about ... now!. Well a month from ...
SEMA 2009: Ford unveils 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet, now with optional aluminum block 12 days ago on Autoblog
When Ford built a 50-unit run of the 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet last year, the program was a huge success with all the cars selling out well before production started. With the factory-built drag racing cars easily proving their worth at the nation's 1/4 mile tracks this year, doing a follow-up was ...
SEMA 2009: 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor XT, $100K off-road race truck 12 days ago on Autoblog

VIDEO: Latest '10 Unleashed winner gets his rally on 12 days ago on Autoblog
We don't think of the Ford Mustang as a rally car. In fact, a Mustang doing anything but drag racing doesn't represent its customer base very well, but that doesn't mean we don't like to see it compete in all kinds of motorsports. So who would turn a brand new 2010 Ford Mustang into a rally ...
REPORT: Ford Kuga could come in Lincoln, Mercury flavors, replace Escape, be built in USA 12 days ago on Autoblog
How's this for an odd twist – Ford essentially kicked off the SUV craze with its Explorer, an embiggened four-door Ranger. And man, did we go crazy. Before the cheap-gas bubble burst, slightly more than half of all passenger vehicles sold here in America were SUVs. Just below the Explorer ...
SEMA Preview: Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s Mustang RTR 12 days ago on Autoblog
This year's SEMA Show promises to be an aftermarket Camaro orgy that would make Caligula blush. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But, as you know, there are Chevy guys and there are Ford guys and never the two shall meet (unless they're making fun of Dodge guys). So, here's one for you ...
New contract between Ford and UAW voted down over weekend 12 days ago on Autoblog
What's good for the goose may be good for the gander, but what works for one country or automaker doesn't necessarily work for another. So while the Canadian Auto Workers union may have approved a new agreement with Ford, below the 49th parallel their compatriots apparently feel otherwise. Up ...

Make it stop: Bad landau tops 13 days ago on Autoblog
Landau tops. Frankly, some are fine. Show us, say, a mid-to-late '70s Olds Cutlass or Lincoln Town Coupe gussied up accordingly from the factory, and we're liable to nod in approval and make one of those, "Ehh, not bad at all!" facial expressions in appreciation of the old barge. That said, most ...

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien welcomes 2010 Taurus SHO tonight! 16 days ago on Autoblog
