<br />
Medium-duty truck buyers looking to purchase a Ford F-650 can currently expect to pay at least $57,000. A big reason for the high price of entry is the effective but expensive 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine. According to PickupTrucks.com, a new lower-cost solution is apparently on the way. The website reports that Ford plans to offer a 362-horsepower, 457 pound-feet of torque 6.8-liter V10. The engine, which used to be available in the Super Duty, will reportedly drop the base price by up to $8,000 while offering fuel economy within about 10 percent of the diesel. Ford is hoping to hit that lofty figure with the help of the 6R140 six-speed transmission that currently changes gears for the 6.7-liter diesel.<br />
<br />
A cost savings of $8,000 is significant, but what good is a medium-duty truck if you can't tow? That won't be a problem for the gas-powered F-650, as Ford promises a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 30,000 pounds and a Max Gross Combined Rating of 33,000 lbs. The 6.8-liter V10-packing F-650 will be available early in 2012.<br />

For 99,000 euro we can protect our loved ones while punching through some of the most wicked terrain this side of Dakar in the robust luxury of the German tuner's interpretation of the Ford F-650. Weighing in at 5.2-tons and stretching over 21-feet long, the Geigerfied uber-truck finds motivation from a tweaked 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel putting out 320 hp and 738 lb.-ft. of torque. Grunt is shoveled to a six-speed Allison 3000 automatic gearbox and on down to a biggie-sized driveshaft that powers the four, 22-inch rear wheels. Both the suspension and brakes are air-powered, and if we're willing to shell out a bit more cash, we can get chrome fuel tanks, leather, navigation and, surprisingly, gull-wing doors. We think this would compliment our imaginary post-apocalyptic stable that also includes our all-time favorite RV, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/23/the-wothahellizat-winnegabos-weep-in-its-presence/">Wothahellizat</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650">Geiger Ford F650</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/geigercars.de-ford-f-650-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/geigercars.de-ford-f-650-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/geigercars.de-ford-f-650-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/geigercars.de-ford-f-650-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-ford-f650/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/geigercars.de-ford-f-650-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.tuningnews.net/article/080502b/geigercars.de-ford-f-650/">Tuning News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/02/apocalypse-preperation-geiger-ford-f650/">Apocalypse Preparation: Geiger Ford F650</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 02 May 2008 14:57:00 EST. Perhaps we were already focused on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-introduces-work-solutions-in-dash-computer-pa/">Ford's Work Solutions</a> trucks in the vicinity, but this insane beast just put our DSLRs on autopilot. The F-650-based XUV was built by Alton Manufacturing and carries a GVWR of 25,999 lbs. That makes the 660 ft-lbs of torque generated by its 7.2L Caterpillar engine seem paltry. Besides the big-rig-meets-Excursion bodywork, your nearly $200,000 expenditure for this XUV will get you hardwood floors, custom captains chairs, a 42-speaker sound system, two drop-down 16-inch TVs plus a 42-inch plasma, four computer workstations, plus a train horn. Oh, you'll also get bragging rights for the biggest, baddest truck in 99% of the world's neighborhoods.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv">Alton Mfg F-650 XUV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-alton-f-650-xuv-makes-a-big-statement/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: Alton F-650 XUV makes a big statement</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-alton-f-650-xuv-makes-a-big-statement/">Chicago 2008: Alton F-650 XUV makes a big statement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 10:01:00 EST. Based on the Ford F-650 that features six-wheel drive, the Deberti version has been stretched to seat six and adds six video screens to make it an even 6x6x6 (sign of the devil's truck!). The rear doors that allow access to the back two rows of seats are gullwings that we have been assured will provide no lift if opened at speed, while the front doors flip up Lambo style. <br /><br />This mighty, mighty monster truck rides on an Air Ride Technologies air suspension to smooth out the F-650's on-road flow, though we highly doubt you'd feel anything under your tires smaller than an Aveo. A 330-hp Caterpillar engine and Allison automatic do what they can to move the DeBerti Designs F-650, and we wish them all the luck in the world.<br /><br />Check out a full gallery of pics after the jump along with a full list of the Ford F-650 by DeBerti Designs' modifications.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/31/sema-deberti-does-an-f-650-thats-just-not-right/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA: DeBerti does an F-650 that's just not right</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/31/sema-deberti-does-an-f-650-thats-just-not-right/">SEMA: DeBerti does an F-650 that's just not right</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 31 Oct 2006 17:48:00 EST.
