<br />
The 2nd Annual Caruso Concours was held this past weekend at The Americana at Brand shopping center in Glendale, California. Put off a bit by threatening skies, we didn't make it out there ourselves, but luckily, Autoblog friend and shutterbug Greg Grudt was there to capture all of the excitement for us. This sophomore outing was once again put on by The Petersen Automotive Museum, and as was the case last year, a brace of incredible vehicles showed up to this fitting but unorthodox locale. Showgoers could peruse the cars for a bit and then pick up a Tiffany necklace on their way out.<br />
<br />
This year's gathering focused on supercars - in particular, supercars capable of 200 mph. Not meant to be an exhaustive showing of double-century barrier breakers, it nonetheless attracted an impressive array of cars capable of close to, if not over, the magic mark. The fun part was just seeing them all together in one place. Judging by Grudt's images, it looks like the Americana also happens to be hosting a few of those Toyota solar sunflowers, which made for an interesting juxtaposition.<br />
<br />
Supercars right off the showroom floor mingled with old-timers from as far back as the Eighties. For instance, the display included not just the Bugatti Veyron, but also its forebearer, the EB110. The list of cars in attendance read like a roster of World's Fastest Cars contenders. Ferrari was represented by an Enzo, F50, F40, 288GTO, 16M, and a SuperAmerica. The Lamborghini cluster was comprised of an LP670-SV, LP640-4, LP560-4 and even a Countach. There was also a Mercedes-McLaren SLR, CLK DTM, Ford GT, Dodge Viper, Cizeta V16t, Maserati MC12, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and even a Jaguar XJ220, which complemented the long flowing bodywork of the adjacent Maser quite nicely. They even dragged out the AREX Concept which was supposed to be good for 214 mph. <br />
<br />
All-in, it appears to have been a great way to bring exotics to the people. Be sure to check out Greg's pics in the gallery, and check out a larger gallery by clicking <a href="http://www.socalspeedzone.com/pictures/200mphshow/index.html">here</a>.<br />

<br />
For its 27th iteration, Orange County's most prestigious classic car show returned to the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, and finally dropped the "Newport Beach" from its name. No longer would it be known as the Newport Beach Concours d'Elegance, instead adopting the Concours d'Elegance at the St. Regis moniker. The title may have changed, but the quality of the entrants hasn't. Still benefiting the <a href="http://www.hoaghospitalfoundation.org">Mary &amp; Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital</a> and the <a href="http://www.atsc4kids.org/">CSP Assessment and Treatment Services Center</a>, the field of classic cars at this concours was once again stunning. <br />
<br />
This year's featured marque was Mercedes-Benz, and the automaker was represented by some truly spectacular models, aided in no small part by the show's proximity to the Mercedes Classic Car Center, the factory-backed restoration shop for vintage Mercedes vehicles. Besides the beautiful Benzes, the roughly 3,000 attendees got to see about 300 other classic and exotic vehicles spread out around the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort and the adjacent Dana Point Sea Terrace Park. Read on to learn what else we found during our day in Dana Point and don't forget to check out the huge gallery below.<br />

<br />
The Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance returned to its picturesque setting at Trump National Golf Club this past Sunday and we were fortunate enough to make it out. Thankfully, the recent Southern California wildfires missed this area of Palos Verdes, so the 17th installment of the concours went off without a hitch. Well, it was cloudy all morning, but that hardly dampened everyone's spirits. This classic car gathering is one of our favorites, not only for the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the well manicured golf course setting, but because of the quality of cars on hand. It's like a scaled down Pebble Beach, with several of that show's alumni in attendance.<br />
<br />
This year's featured marque was Maserati, but all of the Italian brands were extremely well represented. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Iso, Bizzarrini, De Tomaso and Lancia all had strong fields, as did Italian motorcycles, which were a new class this year. There were even a few Cisitalias, Fiats, Oscas and Siatas on display. On the non-Italian side of things, there were customs, horseless carriages, brass era cars, British luxury cars, American luxury cars and a lot of other stunning vehicles.<br />
<br />
Some highlights included the Italian race cars - Maserati Birdcage, Monopostos and 200 SIs, Iso Griffo A3/C, and the legendary Lancia Stratos (a genuine HF team car done up in Alitalia colors). The Moto Guzzi Lodola and Vespa GS160 stood out in the bike field, but it was really nice to see all of the Maserati, Ferrari (not related to Enzo), Moto Guzzi, Ducati and Benelli cycles as well.<br />
<br />
Other four-wheeled stunners included the Pinin Farina Series I Cab, ATS 2500, Lancia Flaminia Zagato, Cisitalia Nuvolari, Ital Design Manta, Alfa 1900 CSS, Luigi Chinetti's old Lamborghini Silhouette, '50 Merc, '54 Chrysler and Plymouth Ghias, Rolls Woodie, Vauxhall, Delahaye and Lagonda sports cars, Franklin, Wills and Panhard pre-war cars, and Steve Tillack's display of everything from a barn find and bare bodies to a glorious Ferrari formula car. We've assembled a huge gallery of most of the entrants, many with their information placards in frame so you can track down more details about your favorites.<br />

<div align="center"><small> <em><strong>1937 Horch 853 Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet - Click above for high-res image gallery</strong></em></small><br /></div>
<br />Another Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and another trophy for Robert M. Lee of Sparks, Nevada. This year the car he used to pick up the hardware was a stunningly turned out 1937 Horch 853 Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet. August Horch had worked with Karl Benz back in the infancy of the automobile before leaving to form his own company, August Horch &amp; Cie in 1899. Ten years later he bolted from his namesake firm to start up Audi. That didn't stop Horch, the company, from continuing to produce incredible motor vehicles.<br /><br />In 1935 they introduced the 850, which featured a 5-liter straight-eight engine. The short wheelbase version was dubbed the 853 and it was a very popular car in its day because of its luxury appointments and competitive pricing. The winning 853 has coachwork by the Berlin coachbuilder, Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck.<br /><br />Lee's Horch just completed a rumored five year restoration and it shows in every nut and bolt. Finished in a glorious silver with acres and acres of chrome, a double continental kit and long sweeping fenders and running boards, it simply had to be the Best of Show. We knew this car was special when we first spotted it Thursday during the Tour d'Elegance, so we have plenty of pics of it to share with all of you. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have.<br /><br />UPDATE: Press release added after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/">1937 Horch 853 Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/01_horchpb09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/02_horchpb09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/03_horchpb09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/04_horchpb09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/05_horchpb09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.<br /></small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/16/monterey-2009-1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet-ta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Monterey 2009: 1937 Horch 853 Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet takes Pebble Beach Best of Show</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/16/monterey-2009-1937-horch-853-voll-and-ruhrbeck-sport-cabriolet-ta/">Monterey 2009: 1937 Horch 853 Voll &amp; Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet takes Pebble Beach Best of Show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 16 Aug 2009 20:43:00 EST. <br />
From the moment the world's first automobiles were built, the wealthy began demanding better transportation than the masses. Brands like Rolls-Royce, Lincoln Pierce-Arrow and Cadillac delivered big, beautiful vehicles with luxury appointments to coddle their occupants. Big, gaudy hood emblems and acres of shiny chrome and brass showed onlookers that big money was rolling by.<br />
<br />
At Meadow Brook this weekend, there were over 100 exclusive vehicles from automakers from Packard to Peugeot, and most of them held very true to their original designs. Some cars from the early 20th century had tool boxes that resided on their running boards, and even these containers were decorated in rich-looking finishes. Wheels were made of wood, windshields were optional, and even a sixteen-cylinder Cadillac had less power than a typical four-banger of today. Designers and engineers collaborated to make some of the most beautiful and unique-looking vehicles of any time period, and we've got the pictures to prove it. Click on the gallery below to view the best of the pre-WWII vehicles from Meadow Brook. <br />

Summers in Michigan are little more than a series of car shows, with events ranging from the Woodward Dream Cruise to the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance. While we love Woodward's tribute to American Muscle, only the Concours could deliver on genuine luxury exotics. And what supercar display would be complete without the father of all exotics, Ferrari. <br />
<br />
The Meadow Brook Concours didn't disappoint with Ferraris ranging from a pristine 1953 Tipo 166mm Competizione Spider with its intricate 2.0-liter V12 engine, to the new for 2010 Ferrari California. Other Maranello-sourced supercars include the 612 Scaglietti, the 1967 330 Spyder with its three valve, 450 hp mill, and the Concours award-winning <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/02/meadowbrook-concours-2009-1967-ferrari-dino-206-competizione-by/">1967 Dino Competizione</a> driven by none other than movie director/car nut Jim Glickenhaus. Click the gallery below to take a tour of the best the Prancing Horse had to offer at Concours 2009.<br />

<br />The web is all about immediacy, and by that token, you should have seen these Greenwich Concours d'Elegance photos right after the event happened. Your humble correspondent, however, was juggling the Concours with his own family vacation preparations, and couldn't deliver in a timely fashion. However, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-greenwich-concours-delegance-the-details/2082647/">like Dick Nixon</a>, I'm now tanned, rested and ready, so follow the jump for several themed photo galleries and the annual rundown on what you missed if you weren't able to make the stop in Greenwich, <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">All photos Copyright (C)2008 Alex N&uacute;&ntilde;ez / Weblogs, Inc. </span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/20/2009-greenwich-concours-delegance/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2009 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/20/2009-greenwich-concours-delegance/">2009 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 20 Jun 2009 20:10:00 EST. <br />We returned from a secret mission in Alaska just in time to make it to one of our favorite smaller concours, the <a href="http://www.hbconcours.org/">Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance</a> in Central Park this past weekend. Not quite as prestigious as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/08/2009-la-concours-delegance/">L.A. Concours</a> we covered from the Rose Bowl, it's always an eclectic show, with everything from hot rods to supercars, pre-war classics to bikes. In fact, Big Dog and Nimbus Motorcycles were featured this year. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068508/">Pontiac</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068470/">Aston Martin</a> were the featured automotive marques, but there were a healthy showing of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068455/">Mini</a> enthusiasts as well for the car's 50th anniversary. Not quite as many as the number at Silverstone last month, but there were about 50 of them in every color and configuration you could think of. Lots of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068511/">Ferraris</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068540/">muscle cars</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068466/">Corvettes</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068534/">motorcycles</a> as well.<br /><br />This concours always attracts mostly locals, but this year, that included seven <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgward_Isabella">Borgward Isabella</a> owners! We're not sure we've ever seen more than one in any single show before so this was a bit of a treat. And there was at least one representative of each <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068500/">bodystyle</a>: saloon, estate, cabriolet, and coupe. The Master of Ceremonies was local car presenter <a href="http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/bio?section=resources/inside_station/newsteam&amp;id=5744054">Dave Kunz</a> and the Grand Marshall was <a href="http://www.geetotiger.com/">Jim Wangers</a>, "Godfather of the GTO," on hand to celebrate Pontiac. Although we couldn't make it on Saturday, the previous day's Grand Marshall was our MINI-mad friend, <a href="http://www.fireballtim.com/">Fireball Tim Lawrence</a>, who was at the show on Sunday as well, just not marshaling as grandly.<br /><br />Highlights included the Judson-supercharged <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068514/">MG TD Mille Miglia</a>, Ferrari <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068421/">400 SuperAmerica</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068489/">Lusso</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068535/">Europa</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068456/">Barbie-pink Mini</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068529/">International Karate Champion Harley</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068429/">BMW 501 V8</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068481/">Pegaso 102</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068423/">Jaguar XK120R</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068418/">'31 Cadillac Convertible Coupe</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068507/">Marco Rigassi's '32 Highboy</a>, a tangerine <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068496/">AMX</a>, and the Schwinn Stingray <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068493/">Super Deluxe</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/24th-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/2068512/">Apple Krate</a>. One of the highest honors in automotive circles, the award signifies outstanding contributions and a passion for the automotive industry. Previous recipients have included Sergio Pininfarina, Phil Hill and Carroll Shelby.<br /><br />Concorso owner Tom McDowell summed up Mr. Leno well:<span style="font-weight: bold;"> <em><br /></em></span><blockquote><em>"Jay is the international face of the ultimate car guy and has been an enthusiastic ambassador for the hobby for more than 30 years. With his own large collection ranging from Lamborghinis and jet powered motorcycles to Duesenbergs and a tank-engined 30-foot hot rod, Jay's eclectic taste knows no boundaries, other than making sure it has four wheels and a great history.</em><br /></blockquote>We couldn't agree more. Check out the press release after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.concorso.com/index.htm">Concorso Italiano</a>]<br />

<br />The Grand Prix region of the Porsche Club of America (<a href="http://gpx.pca.org/">PCA-GPX</a>) is centered in the Long Beach area of Southern California. It takes its name from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Long+Beach+Grand+Prix/">Grand Prix</a> held every year since 1975 on the streets of the coastal city south of Los Angeles. Besides getting together for the race every year, the PCA-GPX also hosts a number of driving and dining events throughout the year, including a spectacular concours d'elegance in the shadow of the Queen Mary.<br /><br />We tagged along with the <a href="http://www.356clubbbs.org/">356 Club</a> this year to see what the show was like. Besides seeing some of the greatest Porsche models from the past 50 years, we also met some great people, had some terrific food, and learned a thing or two about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019128/">356</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019153/">911</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019122/">912</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019204/">964</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019174/">993</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019138/">996</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019117/">997</a>, and the rest of the offerings from Stuttgart and Weissach. We rekindled our love affair with the iconic Gruppe B-inspired <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019201/">959</a>, we made a new friend in the form of the 1977 SCCA Trans-Am Championship-winning <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019171/">934.5</a> and we spotted an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/2019109/">"Outlaw" 356</a> with a 3.3-liter 930 turbo motor that's probably as fast as either of those two.<br /><br />Primarily we discovered that despite the state of the automotive industry, one thing remains true: people are still celebrating their cars. Join the celebration by checking out the massive gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/">Stuttgart meets SoCal at the PCA-GPX Queen Mary Concours</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/pcagpxqueenmary---001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/pcagpxqueenmary---002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/pcagpxqueenmary---003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/pcagpxqueenmary---004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/pcagpxqueenmary---005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="912 alley" title="912 alley" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://about.frank4cars.fotki.com/">Frank Filipponio</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/19/stuttgart-meets-socal-at-the-pca-gpx-queen-mary-concours/">Stuttgart meets SoCal at the PCA-GPX Queen Mary Concours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 19:58:00 EST. <br />It must be a month with the letter "R" in it, because Bugatti is releasing yet another special edition Veyron. Following up on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-bleu-centenaire-is-every-bit-as-special-as-any-othe/">the one-off Blue Centenaire that was shown in Geneva</a> to celebrate the marque's 100th anniversary, the latest is actually a corral of four special editions, each in a different color and dedicated to the legend of one of the company's pre-WWII racing drivers: Sir Malcolm Campbell, Hermann zu Leiningen, Jean-Pierre Wimille and Achille Varzi.<br /><br />Each car gets a two-tone exterior treatment in grand Bugatti style: polished aluminum on the front fenders and doors, with the rear section, roof and hood in contrasting colors to match the legendary drivers' classic machines: Italian racing red, French racing blue, British racing green and an off-white to represent Germany, whose historic racing color was silver. So far only these low-res images have surfaced over on Motorpasion, so they will have to hold us over until Bugatti rolls out the quadruplets <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/10/ralph-laurens-bugatti-atlantic-to-headline-villa-deste/">at the exclusive Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este show</a>, which opens its gates this weekend on the shores of Lake Como.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/">Bugatti Veyron Centenaire previews</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-previews/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/bugatti-veyron-centenaire-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motorpasion.com/bugatti/exclusiva-bugatti-veyron-centenaire-edition-primeras-imagenes-oficiales">Motorpasion</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/23/report-bugatti-to-unveil-four-veyron-centenaire-specials-at-vil/">Bugatti to unveil four Veyron Centenaire specials at Villa d'Este?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Apr 2009 13:57:00 EST. It's a car show that's not merely "all about stuff that you haven't seen every damn August," it will be focused on some of the most spiritually jarring machinery you've ever seen anywhere. <br /><br />Cars will be judged in 40 classes including Unmitigated Gaul, Rueful Britannia, and Carozzeria Iacocca. Awards include honors like the Steaming Pile of Kit trophy. For those of you fatigued from Pebble fever, this could be for you. But the rules do state that "No wine, cheese, straw boaters, silicone-augmented cougars, or watercolors of pre-war Grand Prix races are sold at this venue." You've been warned.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.concoursdlemons.com/">Concours d'LeMons</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/14/concours-dlemons-to-invade-monterey/">Concours d'LeMons to invade Monterey</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 14 Apr 2009 10:39:00 EST. We also appreciate your comments listing events we might have overlooked or that are just near-and-dear to your hearts.<br /><br />Highlights for January include the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/detroit-auto-show/">North American International Auto Show,</a> which we will be covering extensively from Detroit; the Arizona collectible car auctions featuring Barrett-Jackson, RM Auctions, Russo and Steele and others; the La Jolla Motorcar Classic at The Cove; the Cavallino Classic from The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida; and the kickoff of the 2009 motorsports season with the Rolex 24 at Daytona.<br /><br />As always, we want to give a shoutout to our two favorite sources; The <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/ref/automobiles/event_calendar.html">New York Times automotive calendar</a> for national and international stuff, and for local stuff here in Southern California, our buddy Dave Lindsay's <a href="http://www.socalcarculture.com/events.html">SoCalCarCulture</a> pages. Dave's photographic coverage of these local events is fantastic. So check out the January event calendar we put together for you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/20/event-alert-january-calendar-of-automotive-events/">after the jump</a> and start adding to it. <br />To celebrate its 26th year as Orange County's most prestigious classic car show, this year's Newport Beach Concours d'Elegance moved from its recent home in Irvine to the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point. Still not Newport Beach, but much closer to the ocean at least. Benefiting the <a href="http://www.hoaghospitalfoundation.org">Mary &amp; Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital</a> and the <a href="http://www.atsc4kids.org/">Assessment and Treatment Services Center</a>, the event featured Cadillac as its honored marque to commemorate GM's 100th birthday this year. Besides the gorgeous <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063833/">1931 Cadillac Sport Phaeton V16 Fleetwood</a> poster car, there were at least a dozen other notable Caddys, as well as about 150 other beautiful classic and collector cars, of which you can see most of them in our high-res gallery below.<br /><br />Although a notch below the premier events like Pebble Beach, some of the most beautiful and significant vehicles around show up for this concours. Representatives from The Petersen, The Nethercutt Collection, the William Lyon Estate, the Mercedes Classic Center, the Simon Collection, the Caballeriza Collection, and the Marconi Museum were on display, alongside some superb machinery from local collectors like David Sydorick and Peter Mullin. Altogether there were about 150 cars in 14 classes. Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Packards, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Delahayes, Mercedes, Rolls-Royces, Duesenbergs, Woodies, race cars and even a horseless carriage or two were visible through the fog around the links.<br /><br />Personal favorites included the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063875/">1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Sport Coupe</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063873/">1939 Delahaye 165 Cabriolet</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063847/">1908 Niclausse D971B</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063870/">1961 Abarth 1000 GT Bialbero Berlinetta</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063845/">1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic Berlinetta</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1048431/">1971 Lamborghini Miura SV Jota</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063858/">2006 Saleen S7R</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063837/">1959 Ferrari 410 Super America Series III</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063830/">1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063841/">1933 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Shooting Brake Woody</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063867/">1933 Duesenberg J Speedster</a> and the blue <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/26th-annual-newport-beach-concours-delegance/1063819/">Ferrari 550 Barchetta</a> in the parking lot. Like a half-scale Pebble Beach, the PV Concours offers visitors a golf course setting above the Pacific that produces a beautiful backdrop for viewing some of the greatest classic cars around. This year's event celebrated 100 years of General Motors, as well as Cadillac, and alternative fuel vehicles among its dozens of classes. Highlights included a 100-yr-old electric car, a Ferrari short wheelbase, a Miura Jota, a '69 Trans Am, 427 COPO Camaro, '48 Delahaye, '54 Fiat 8V, and some great Corvairs and Cadillacs.<br /><br />Besides the cars, concours are always fun for celeb spotting, especially around L.A. KNBC's Dave Kunz, Parnelli Jones, Barry Meguiar, Bobbie 'dine Rodda, Paul Moyer, Bruce Meyer and even Deepak Chopra were among those who made it out for the show, which benefits the Palos Verdes Art Center and Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation. We assembled a huge gallery of some of the entrants, all labeled so you can identify some of your favorites.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/">16th Annual Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/1910fordtouring_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-delegance-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-delegance-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-delegance_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/1899locomobilemod2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/22/16th-annual-palos-verdes-concours-d-elegance/">16th Annual Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 19:28:00 EST. The ultra-exclusive Concours staged on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, providing classic car buffs the ultimate venue to see automotive history staked out on the greens. While dozens of supporting events have surfaced to fill the entire week with automotive happenings, Pebble itself has diversified to include a free event for spectators: the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance.<br /><br />The Tour is open to all Concours entries and those that participate earn tie-breaker points in the Concours judging on Sunday. All but the oldest cars drive 50 miles up and down the hills along 17-Mile Drive and PCH from Pebble Beach to Big Sur, before heading back to the Polo Grounds at Pebble. Most of the participants also make a lunch stop in Carmel which clogs the streets for most of the day. Nobody can blame fans for trying to get a glimpse of these great cars for free rather than shelling out the big bucks for the Concours tickets. While the Sunday show offers truly spectacular vistas, getting a chance to see, hear and smell these museum pieces in action is really special too. <br /><br />Just like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/18/pebble-beach-week-2007-the-10th-annual-pebble-tour/">last year</a>, heavy fog along the route did it's best to obscure our view, but our long lenses and thermal underwear prevailed against the moist air. That, in a nutshell, sums up the 2008 edition of the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance, a 2-day automotive carnival that never ceased to amaze, no matter how many times we walked around the grounds. Each pass seemed to reveal something new -- something we somehow missed just a few minutes earlier. As always, Day 1 was dedicated to American cars and Day 2 paid tribute to the Europeans. Oh, and temps were in the mid-90s and very humid both days. That didn't make it less awesome, though. Just more...sticky.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/">2008 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance Day 1 - The Americans</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day1_hi50_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day1_hi63_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day1_hi01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day1_hi30_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-1-the-americans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day1_hi56_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/">2008 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance Day 2 - The Europeans</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day2_hi51_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day2_hi04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day2_hi35_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day2_hi15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance-day-2-the-europeans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/greenw08_day2_hi44_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />All photos Copyright (C)2008 Alex N&uacute;&ntilde;ez / Weblogs, Inc.</span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2008 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/2008-greenwich-concours-delegance/">2008 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Jun 2008 15:30:00 EST. Sure the weather may be sunny and 70 all year-long, but there are most definitely seasons. We happen to be in the middle of concours season right now, with classic car shows popping up like, well, like poppies. The classic car fan is completely spoiled for choice out here, with shows occurring in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and in Huntington Beach just this past weekend. We already showed you some of the highlights from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/02/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/">Los Angeles</a>, and now we want to share a bit of HB too.<br /><br />Now in its 23rd year, the <a href="http://hbconcours.org/">Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance</a> is a much more casual event, with cars sprawled around Huntington's Central Park, in the shadow of the Central Library. It feels much more like a community festival than some of the other concours, but still has some top-notch machinery being judged for awards. Spread over two days, showgoers got to see muscle cars, woodies and hot rods on Saturday, while the motorbikes, European classics and exotics joined the featured Corvettes on Sunday. Celebrities on hand included Kar Kustomizer <a href="http://www.barris.com/">George Barris</a>, <a href="http://www.fireballtim.com/">Fireball Tim Lawrence</a> and KABC car expert <a href="http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/bio?section=resources/inside_station/newsteam&amp;id=5744054">Dave Kunz</a>. Not quite Pebble Beach, but a lot cheaper and just as fun for the spectators. Check out the gallery below to see everything from a Sport Pack Mini to a Lamborghini 400GT, a '50 Merc to a Fiat Abarth, and everything in between.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/">23rd Annual Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hbconcours---25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Classic Minis" title="Classic Minis" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hbconcours---20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Kaiser" title="Kaiser" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hbconcours---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Chevrolet Fleetmasters" title="Chevrolet Fleetmasters" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hbconcours---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Chevrolet Fleetmaster" title="Chevrolet Fleetmaster" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hbconcours---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Custom Mustang" title="Custom Mustang" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/04/23rd-annual-huntington-beach-concours-delegance/">23rd Annual Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 19:58:00 EST. Held annually in Pasadena, California to benefit the <a href="http://assistanceleague.net/">Assistance League of Southern California</a>, this young concours is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the better ones on the circuit. Not surprising considering the fact that there are tons of championship quality machines in the area, both from private collections and top-notch museums like the <a href="http://www.nethercuttcollection.org/index2.html">Nethercutt</a> and <a href="http://www.petersen.org/">Petersen</a>. Close to 300 cars were displayed in 40 categories ranging from horseless carriages to 1990 and newer Ferraris. Along with thousands of spectators, we were on hand with cameras clickin', capturing some of the day for all of you who couldn't be there.<br /><br />Click through the gallery and you will see Porsche 356es, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mercedes, Triumphs, MGs, vintage race cars, Rolls-Royces, muscle cars, Alfas, Lancias, Packards, Fords, Cadillacs, go-karts, Cobras and Jaguars. There was also an assortment of cars most of us have never heard of like the EMF, Amilcar, Autocar, Kissel, Margrette, and Tahis. Personal favorites included the 1953 Rita Hayworth Cadillac Ghia Coupe, 1925 Amilcar boattail, 1937 Talbot-Lago, Ferrari Lusso and Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato. Check out the gallery to pick out your favorites as well.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/">3rd Annual Los Angeles Concours</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/08laconcours---70_thumbnail.jpg" alt="1937 Talbot-Lago" title="1937 Talbot-Lago" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/08laconcours---67_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato" title="Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/08laconcours---68_thumbnail.jpg" alt="1963 Ferrari 250GTL Lusso" title="1963 Ferrari 250GTL Lusso" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/08laconcours---69_thumbnail.jpg" alt="1953 Rita Hayworth Cadillac Ghia Coupe" title="1953 Rita Hayworth Cadillac Ghia Coupe" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/08laconcours---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/02/3rd-annual-los-angeles-concours/">3rd Annual Los Angeles Concours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 02 Jun 2008 20:02:00 EST.
