Remember this chromed Buick Regal? At the time of publication, we said there were some cars that looked better in chrome than others, and this is what we had in mind.

A specialist aftermarket firm called GT Guy LLC solicited the talents of Camilo Pardo - the designer of the Ford GT - to create the one-of-a-kind supercar you see here. To create Merkury 4, the team started with a solid red Ford GT and gave it a Mirrachrome paint job with a black-bordered fluorescent orange stripe. Then they tweaked the supercharger to deliver a whopping 725 horsepower to the rear wheel. They painted the valve covers, smoothed out the clamshell intakes behind the doors, fitted ceramic-coated pipes, bolted on a fresh set of HRE wheels wearing Michelin rubber and more.

The result, as you can see from the photos in the gallery, is quite stunning - as if the stock Ford GT wasn't already a looker on its own.
Ford GT designer takes his creation to artful zenith originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 12 Jan 2012 14:29:00 EST.
Camilo Pardo is a name many of you will recognize. He's the man responsible for bringing the Ford GT40 back to life in its modern Ford GT form. Besides penning beautiful automobiles, Pardo also works in other art mediums. The designer has created a very limited-edition run of prints, and the hand-signed work is available at a surprisingly affordable price. Each of the 45 prints is up on 1xRUN.com, a site dedicated to providing limited-edition artwork at low prices. The cost for each print is $80 - Pardo's other work often commands over a thousand dollars, so this is something of a bargain.

If you're interested, you might want to act quickly because all 45 prints ought to move quickly at that price. You can see Pardo's racy take on Chip Ganassi Target Racing's team racing suit in our gallery below or head straight to 1xRUN to grab an example for yourself.
While no details were disclosed, Pardo confirmed he is leaving the Blue Oval and said the specifics are still being ironed out. Pardo is probably best known for designing the GT40 concept car which spawned the production Ford GT.

While employed at Ford's advance design studio, Pardo also worked on the Thunderbird and the Lincoln LS among other things. It's rumored that he hasn't done much vehicle design work for Ford recently, being relegated to smaller tasks such as side view mirror shaping. Such a pity, although we have no doubt that this talented artist and designer will land on his feet in short order. We had a brief meeting with Camilo during last year's Ford GT National Rally II and you can scope out the images from that day in the gallery below.

Gallery: Ford GT National Rally II

[Source: Automotive News, sub. req.]
Ford GT designer, Camilo Pardo, leaving the Blue Oval originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 13:01:00 EST.
We've become familiar with Jason Heffner's creations over the past few years, from his insanely powerful Lamborghini Gallardos to mindblowingly fast Ford GTs. For his latest project, Heffner has teamed up with Ford GT chief designer Camilo Pardo for a special edition version of the car that looks as good as it is fast. Visually, the American supercar gets a racing inspired paint scheme and graphics, flat black BBS wheels and a new rear bumper from Classic Design Concepts. Inside, the car gets a chrome shift ball, wide-shaft shifter and aluminum seat grommets. Under the bonnet, the GT is blessed with Heffner's twin-turbo treatment as well as a Camilo-designed billet aluminum intake and black valve covers. Horsepower is rated at north of 900 and the car is capable of topping 200 mph in under 20 seconds while passing through the 1/4 mile at over 150 mph. There's a press release after the jump with more details and high-res photos in the gallery below over which you have our permission to ogle.

He even added Le Mans racing stripes to the GT500 convertible, which, for those who don't know, isn't actually available on the convertible. We love the new dual-page spread covers, and Winding Road is finding some very creative ways to use the extra space. Remember the Audi R10 Lego tribute cover?

Issue 13 of Winding Road also features articles on the MINI GP, the Lexus LS460 (did they do a burnout, too?) and a decommissioned Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, the latter penned by former Autoblog editor Chris Paukert.

[Source: Winding Road]
Ford GT vs GT500 mural adorns cover of Winding Road originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 30 Aug 2006 10:26:00 EST. The automotive designer, branded as something of a Latin lover by the media, has created everything from a disposable wedding gown to a bikini made out of three Crown Royal bags. Pardo designed a Mercury line of clothing for Miami Fashion Week, including a bikini with aluminum discs (pictured) provided by auto supplier Northern Engraving and Machine as well as a racing-suit sporting a skirt instead of pants. Alongside his fashion unveilings at the show came the Mercury Milan Voga concept sedan.

Pardo, who owns several Singer sewing machines according to the Detroit News, is passionate about clothing design and fashion, and he often incorporates automotive-inspired materials into his women's wear.
