We basically saw it last January at CES and the Detroit Auto Show as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/pics-aplenty-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/">Cadillac Provoq concept</a>. Replace the slatted grille with a standard Cadillac unit and the E-Flex fuel cell drivetrain with a conventional gas V6 and you have the new 2010 Cadillac SRX. The new SRX should be on the streets by this time next year replacing the current tall wagon that has only been marginally successful. Going forward, Cadillac has basically taking the first-gen SRX and split it into two vehicles, each of which is more focused on a particular segment. This vehicle that continues to wear the SRX badge will be a chunkier, more SUV-like vehicle, while those looking for a more car-like ride can go for the new CTS Sport Wagon. Cadillac isn't give out a lot of details about its new CUV yet, but that rarely stops us from some speculation. While the current SRX is based on the same Sigma platform used by the CTS and STS, the new one has a different architecture. It is also believed to have a transverse-mounted drive train with the possibility of front or all-wheel-drive. Based on its size, it is thought to be an improved, next generation version of the Theta mid-size CUV platform currently used by the Saturn Vue. The SRX, which has previously been referred to as the BRX, will share this new platform with the upcoming Saab 9-4X CUV. For now GM is only releasing these three images, but the vehicle itself will probably debut early in 2009, perhaps at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-cadillac-srx/low/">2010 Cadillac SRX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-cadillac-srx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x10ca_sr001-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-cadillac-srx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x10ca_sr002-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-cadillac-srx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x10ca_sr003-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/">Cadillac Provoq Fuel Cell Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_ca033_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_ca034_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_ca035_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_ca036_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-cadillac-provoq-fuel-cell-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_ca037_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Cadillac]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/15/cadillac-provoq-concept-evolves-into-2010-srx/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cadillac Provoq concept evolves into 2010 SRX</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/15/cadillac-provoq-concept-evolves-into-2010-srx/">Cadillac Provoq concept evolves into 2010 SRX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 15 Aug 2008 00:01:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/31/pollsters-reveal-the-2010-cadillac-cts-wagon/">CTS wagon</a> will debut in 2009 and will be sold worldwide, and it's expected that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-cadillac-cts-coupe-concept-2-doors-is-better-than/">CTS coupe</a> will debut later that year.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/02/2010-cadillac-brx-provoq-will-become-new-srx/">As expected</a>, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-the-cadillac-provoq-shows-its-face-in-the-midwest/">Provoq concept</a> will replace the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SRX/">SRX</a> in 2010 and will ditch its predecessor's Sigma underpinnings and utilize a new platform created by blending the Theta and Epsilon architectures. Power will be provided by a V6 and Cadillac's general manager, Jim Taylor, expects annual sales to land somewhere between 60,000 and 70,000 units.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/">Cadillac BRX - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.fc.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.fc2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.p1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.p2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.rc.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-cts-wagon-spy-shots/low/">Cadillac CTS Wagon - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-cts-wagon-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/cd_ctswagon_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-cts-wagon-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/cd_ctswagon_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-cts-wagon-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/cd_ctswagon_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20080623/ANA03/806230364/1197">Automotive News</a> - Sub. While the name will stay the same, the vehicle will be entirely new with a FWD platform shared with Saab that replaces the current RWD Sigma one that also underpins the CTS and STS. Engines are rumored to be a base 2.8L V6 and and the direct-inject 3.6L powerplant tuned to around 300 ponies. The new platform will also give GM the opportunity to use technology like its plug-in two-mode system in future Cadillacs without re-engineering it from the ground up.

Compare these spy shots of what is believed to be a Cadillac BRX prototype to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-the-cadillac-provoq-shows-its-face-in-the-midwest/">our shots of the Provoq Concept</a> from this week's Detroit Auto Show. Pretty similar, right? This leads us to the conclusion that the Provoq Concept essentially is the BRX. <br /><br />While the Provoq is technically an E-Flex concept that uses a series hybrid drivetrain in conjunction with a hydrogen fuel cell, the production version would most likely <strike>share engines with its Theta platform-mate, the Saturn Vue</strike> use the direct-inject version of GM's 3.6L V6 with over 300 hp, though that could be wishful thinking on our part. Otherwise, expect the non-direct-inject version of the same engine to be offered, and possibly mild and two-mode hybrid versions down the road. <br /><br />Spy photographers from KGP attempt to justify their guess that this vehicle is indeed the Cadillac BRX by pointing out its seven-spoke wheels, the downward-sloping character line on the side, the outline of vertical taillamps out back, chrome trim around the side windows, etc. (you can read their report after the jump), but we think it's fairly obvious.<br /><br /><strong>NOTE: </strong><em>Thanks to some commenters, we remembered that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/officially-official-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-for-real-this-ti/">Saab has confirmed</a> its upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-live-reveal/">9-4X crossover</a> will share a brand new platform with the upcoming Cadillac BRX, which means the Cadillac BRX will not be built on the same Theta platform as the Saturn Vue. </em><br /><br />[Photos: KGP Photography]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/">Cadillac BRX - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.fc.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.fc2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.p1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.p2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-brx-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cad.brx.rc.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/">Detroit 2008: Cadillac Provoq concept - Live Reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-concept-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-concept-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-concept-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-concept-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cadillac-provoq-concept-detroit-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-concept-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/18/spy-shots-production-provoq-a-k-a-the-cadillac-brx/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spy Shots: Production Provoq, a.k.a. the Cadillac BRX</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/18/spy-shots-production-provoq-a-k-a-the-cadillac-brx/">Spy Shots: Production Provoq, a.k.a. the Cadillac BRX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 18 Jan 2008 09:33:00 EST. The Provoq, as you likely know by know, makes use of the E-Flex architecture that also underpinned last year's Chevy Volt and Opel Flextreme concepts. If you like what you see, plan on seeing more of it in the not-too-distant future. The styling of the Provoq is likely <em>very </em>close to what we'll see when Cadillac eventually pulls the wraps off its upcoming BRX crossover. That's down the line, however. In the meantime, check out the gallery below for our first look at the Provoq in the metal.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/">CES 2008: Cadillac Provoq Live reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-live-reveal-1-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-live-reveal-1-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-live-reveal-1-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-live-reveal-1-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ces-2008-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/cadillac-provoq-live-reveal-1-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/pics-aplenty-cadillac-provoq-live-reveal/">Pics Aplenty: Cadillac Provoq Live Reveal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 23:34:00 EST. While very few details were released, GM says that the Provoq will be "free from petroleum fuel and emissions." That means the Provoq could be either an all-electric vehicle or possibly another variant of the automaker's E-flex platform that has spawned the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/01/07/detroit-auto-show-its-here-gms-plug-in-hybrid-is-the-chevy-v/">Chevy Volt</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/10/officially-official-opel-flextreme-concept-40g-km-of-co2-and/">Opel Flextreme</a>. Those two concepts are both series hybrids with a gas engine and diesel range extender, respectively. While GM did show off the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/19/shanghai-motor-show-gm-unveils-fuel-cell-e-flex/">E-flex platform with a hydrogen fuel-cell range extender</a> at last year's Shanghai Motor Show, we've yet to see it paired with a body. Perhaps then the Provoq will be the hydrogen fuel-cell series hybrid concept that we've been waiting to see. There's one more day to go before Wagoner takes the podium in Vegas and reveals all. <br /><br />[Source: GM]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/07/ces-2008-wagoner-to-unveil-cadillac-provoq-concept-tomorrow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CES 2008: Wagoner to unveil Cadillac Provoq Concept tomorrow</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/07/ces-2008-wagoner-to-unveil-cadillac-provoq-concept-tomorrow/">CES 2008: Wagoner to unveil Cadillac Provoq Concept tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 07 Jan 2008 10:35:00 EST.
