This ProTeam Corvette Sting Ray was simply amazing, and deserved the $600,000 it drew as the top bid at Barrett-Jackson on Saturday. The winning bidder received not only the car, but all of the displays and merchandise and rights to the Last Corvette name.

The Corvette is on it's sixth generation today, but forty years ago, the 'Vette was nearing the end of the C-2 era. The very last of those 1967 Corvettes was a silver coupe, powered by a 390hp, 427 cu-in L-36 V-8, a then state of the art AM/FM radio, tinted glass and of course the special red-stripe tires. Just over a year ago a full restoration was completed by Terry Michaelis and his group of specialists at ProTeam, which earned a Top Flight award at the 2006 National Corvette Restorers Society's Winter Regional. The car was also featured in a series called American Muscle Car: The Last Stingray on SpeedTV which told the history of the last C-2 'Vette.
